  • Marta Cattin, the Environment Agency’s soil health specialist, is carrying out soil health sampling and investigating how this is impacting on river water quality. She is working with 16 farmers in Northumberland to carry out interventions to improve soil health. It’s part of the Life Wader project, which is a five year partnership project using a catchment to coast approach to improve river, intertidal, and marine habitats at the Northumberland Coast and the cross-border Tweed catchment.
