Dr Ashok Da Ranade: Concert recording 05-03 Shukla Bilawal

This is a live concert recording of Dr Ashok Da Ranade. This concert was held at Narendra and Vidya Dengle’s home in Pune, around 1988-89.
[The recording is recovered from an old cassette which was not in a good condition, hence the audio quality is not pleasing, and sometimes it has wobbles and breaks - so pardon the disturbance in some parts.]
The co-artists are Kedar Bodas (Tanpura, vocal accompaniment), Lata Godse (Tanpura), Madhukar Khadilkar (Sarangi) and Anand Sidhaye (Tabla).
In this concert, Dr Ranade has rendered compositions from various musical traditions such as Gwalior, Aga, Rampur.

Bilaskhani Todi: Angiya Daraki Jaat (Roopak) & Mano Mano Batiya (Tritala)
Shukla Bilawal: Kal Na Parat (Sughar Piya’s Bandish in Jhaptala) & Eri Main Kase (Tritala)
Jaunpuri: Piharawa Jago (Tilwada) & Tarana (Tritala)
Bhairavi: Bhayi Ve Tori Sawaro (Thumri in Deepchandi), Tarana (Tritala)
Famous music critic Shrirang Sangoram wrote a review of this concert in the newspaper Sakal, which is provided in the video so that today’s listeners can imagine the impact of this fabulous performance of Dr Ranade.
