Durotan learns here that Khadgar is a mage and uses his mouth to cast spells. Later on when he grabs Khadgar, he makes sure to cover his mouth to prevent him from doing anything. A smart warrior indeed. I thought that was a nice touch.

I never understood why people hated this movie so much, I found it very entertaining and it had some great music and CGI. Sure they altered the Warcraft story, but it wasn't that bad after all and it worked very well in this movie.
it downfall lies in the fact that politic is boring.it's grand,it spectacular, and it is indeed very enjoyable.but politics, and also the characters were very scarcely developed.
most of the actors for the human characters were pretty flat, imo. Good movie overall though.
i don't like gamora much, since it's basically a hot girl in fake fang.the orcs looked fantastic though, which is a nice off shot to all the bland generic human character cliché
It's a entertaining fantasy movie. Anyone who didn't like this is simply a boring, dull person overall. Sad

Thats a commond misconception, what that truly means is: victory or death in war, not in every single battle.

Pablo Orta if that were true, why are there any orcs alive after the 2nd war?
@@42Nightsyesterday The end of the 2nd war saw them cut off from Fel magic for the first time in years. It was like coming off a mean heroin binge, they were left listless and drained of willpower. Those that managed to fight the side effects like Grom Hellscream and his Warsong, never gave up the fight. They became guerilla war raiders instead.
You do realize that this is the very first combat scene in the legendary war between the Alliance and the Horde that will reshape the faith of Azeroth forever? Damn.
@k immaded I mean if it a humanoid form that's not much different from yours, the same weakness like pressure points for example, it would still apply

For a non-Warcraft fan like me, this movie is great to watch. A movie with a fine story, good CGI, and good fights.
The way it presents Orc warriors and their Wargs like none in other movies. They are bulky, fight with brute force, but still have brain to think when to strike and when to retreat.

2:03 Lothar is like: Damn Dwarves and their freaking gadgets.
Well, dwarves were sometimes one step ahead than us
This movie really got the magic right. The weight of it felt more realistic than most fantasy movies.
Yes! You said it perfectly! Spot on!
In a nutshell why it did so bad in the US:
Most people who PLAY WoW thought it was sometime from Vanilla -> onward. So when they watched it, they were like 'wtf?'.
Alot of people who DON'T PLAY WoW figured they wouldn't understand it since they don't play the game...
The movie is based on Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the FIRST Warcraft game.
And it was goddamn amazing. 10/10 Have watched it multiple times. Three times in i-Max.
I saw a video abt the brief history of Azeroth and realise that this plot wasnt from the vanilla but the entire beginning. And i genuinely enjoyed it!
That's not why it did so poorly. Mediocre CGI, bad costume design, poor marketing, and disinterested acting performances, as well as a disturbing lack of faith to the game it's based off of were all contributing reasons as to why it failed.
The movie did poorly because it *IS* a poor movie. All it has going for it is CGI orcs and special effects. Writing is poor, at some points even (Garona killing Llane) outright insults your intelligence, characters are bland, acting is subpar (Lothar, mostly), humor is inexistent, pacing is rushed.
And if you are a WoW fan, you'll be laughing at their poor attempts to insult their own lore by 'adjusting' it to fit the movie... for no narrative reasons. Alodi, Garona's heritage (especially trying to make her a Thrall-like character in a movie that HAS Thrall present), the Mak'gora... Mind you, this IS the time the Chronicle came out and they were establishing cosmology of the WoW Universe... and the movie outright contradicts it. Add to that the ill-concieved attempts to induce nostalgia by briefly showing the WoW locations (was trying hard to recognize at least ONE room in Kharazan - did not succeed).
So no, your self-imagined "oldschool" elitism leads you to all the wrong conclusions.
@@user-yk9kh3xu5s If his conclusions are right or not doesnt really matter, there were numerous people who loved the movie, i am among them.
@@Mediados Newsflash: if you like something, it doesn't mean it is good. Your taste might just need refining.

So i watched this movie first, then i saw Vikings, then i saw this movie again and now i can't unsee Ragnar.

Man, watching this on its own really makes me realize how well that scenes were put together and how good they looked. It's such a damn shame the pacing was SO bad.
They should have focused mainly on the orcs
@@matthewosterman9030 Don't agree. It needed the Alliance perspective for the first war, arguably if anything it needed more of a focus on them, that's easy writing there. But the horde is just as important and they did well. A second movie would have given them the chance to clean up the loose ends.
@@Morec0 Tbh the movie was way to short.
@@Morec0 I disagree. I think they should have started with The Rise of the Horde novels. Introduce us to the orcs and draenei, and let us feel a connection with them, then in the second movie, introduce Azeroth. It would have been amazing to see Kil'Jaeden and Archimonde get seduced by Sargeras, and actually given the audience some idea of what fel magic actually is.
@@jamesp877 Biggest issue with that is the lack of a human character in the lead. I think that alienates a bunch more people than we tend to think about.

Honestly that sounds like something we’d all say in their shoes

Wow. That ambush scene was totally awesome. I played WoW for 7 years. They use abilities from the classes. My mage was never as strong as this guy, though.
Yep! I'm pretty sure the spell we see Khadgar cast at 0:55 is Arcane Barrage from the mages Arcane tree.
That scene was actually much better than what I expected from a warcraft movie
I really like the human Orc dynamic on display in this movie (although I prefer Tolkien orcs)
contemporary Orcs will slaughter humans if they try to fight them in terms of power/strength
but a smart fighter like Lothar can kill orcs just as easily using his skill and agility
But that was the problem with the film - absolutely nowhere in the lore are orcs that much bigger and stronger than humans - grunts vs footmen is supposed to be a roughly even match - but in this movie the orcs are the size of ogres and are throwing horses around. It's nonsense to say orcs will slaughter humans in a straight fight - look at the intro to Warcraft 3. Humans always had better armour and skill, orcs had brutality and raw power. Even match in a straight fight. Biggest issue with the movie. Orcs aren't that big!
@@bobbinsgaming3028 quick reminder: a grunt was worth two footmen.
@@bobbinsgaming3028 The orcs are definately bigger and stronger , but that doesn't always mean an easy victory. Here, this is the first time humans have ever fought orcs, and are unprepared for their strength and ferocity. By Warcraft 3, humans have been fighting orcs for years and thus learned how to properly fight them.
@@bobbinsgaming3028 To me its the opposite, Orcs were always big, the thing most people tend to forget is Azeroth humans =/= real humans. Azeroth humans descended from the Vrykul who are legit giants thus making the warcraft humans much stronger and durable then, for example, a knight in our history.
@@95goa Even if wow's human are stronger than us the Orcs themselves were always described as much stronger than them. Just read the first novels to get a taste of how physically superior they are to them. Just an example, when Thrall was in the internment camps he decapitated a bear using only his hands. There's also a bit where guards try to draw blood by poking him with spears, but can't even pierce his skin.
If anything the movie did a good work representing the difference in physical aptitude between the two races.
I wish there was a sequel. I really did enjoy this movie.
I will never understand the hate for this movie, its one of my favourite fantasies and i dont even play wow. Hugely underrated and great action and characters.
As a orc warrior the crushing sound of that Alliance solder’s armor at 1:11 is very satisfying. FOR THE HORD!!

0:36 dying footman sound from W.III
The details in the movie were amazing. If you look very closely you can find tons of these kind of details from the Warcraft games and books.
Not a W3 footman, a W3 peasant actually. : )
But still good perception, I didn't notice at all through all that metallic crashing.
I think it's a shame that the critics panned this movie. I'm excited to hear there may be a Director's Cut released. Shortening it for theater release ruins good movies like this, which have so much to offer. Kudos to the director, and please release your cut ASAP.
This is the kind of franchise that really should've LOR or GOT kind of support, preferably with Jones as the director. He's already got GOT directors and screenwriters beat by a mile, imho. His vision is far superior to theirs. These rich alternate worlds, characters and sub-plots deserve WAY more time and money to fully develop story lines.
Just needs the right patronage to pony up the cash.

You know what it's nice for a change to have a fantasy movie go balls to the wall in it's fantasy rather than try to be realistic and the next LOTR or Harry Potter
It's a realistic fantasy.
Comparing this to Lotr is like comparing Land Before Time to Jurassic Park, and not because of realism dood.
