We love Claudio, affectionately known as the tinkerman he was, but let's be honest, he was no Jose in 2004 (let me stress the 2004). Jose was in a league of his own, he was the star attraction, he was the highest profile figure in the dressing room and the most important member of the team. Even Claudio's staunchest supporters would recognise this. Roman bought the club to win, tough decisions need to be made at this level, and that's exactly what was done... The results are there for all to see.

I’ve always loved the narrative that if Abramovich sells that Chelsea will fade away. It shows a complete lack of any business knowledge. If he sells it’s going to be to someone as rich as him. Now maybe they won’t be as good an owner but still.

Except he doesn't want to sell the club, only certain % of it much like Sheik Mansour did with Man City. Probably to raise the money for the stadium which is delaying again and will cost a lot.
JR That's what i'm saying. He never listed the club up for sale, and the meeting with bankers in New York was more about evaluating an official value of the Chelsea FC, which came up to around $2.8 billion.
Yes. He rejected big offers from Jim Ratcliffe the wealthiest man in the UK, I think even Allen before he passed away had an interest and there are people from UAE or Saudis that want to buy some club in the UK Liverpool refused them, there is an interest in Man Utd and Chelsea. Plenty of offers to go around but if club was up for the sale it would have been known and a lot more detailed.

I remember when the same rumors came up years ago, but Abramovich threatened to take the news outlet to the court and shortly after the selling rumors faded away. Not only Abramovich hasn't taken a single penny out of the club, but just last month he pumped more money into it. He's not selling his beloved Chelsea.

As a Chelsea fan I can only hope that whoever buys the club (or most precisely, whoever Roman is willing to sell the club to) is a person that values transparency and prioritizes the direction of the club over their own fortune. As for Mr. Abramovich, he certainly has proven to be an incredible owner for us, but off the pitch his actions are undoubtedly worrying. A true businessman I suppose...
