This is a one off personal stories episode, where the team member in question relates their experiences in their own voice. This is _not_ a new narrator. We have done these before with both Simon and Rich. Looking at some of the comments, we understand some of you may find Presley's voice jarring compared to what you're used to, but please give her a break. This is not something she does everyday.
Some of the comments are sickening, I’m pro freedom of speech all but threatening to unsubscribe is a low from some people, they need to learn that this is a one off and she narrated fine 👍🏼
I personally think her voice is pleasant.
I will not criticize something that I can’t do better. Besides I give her full credit for having the guts to share her story.
The nicest way I can possibly say it is I literally cannot watch this one. Sorry, love the show.

In Norwegian folklore, the concept of "vardøger" is known, where one hears, and occasionally sees, a person before they actually arrive. The term "vardøger" likely originates from Old Norse *varðhygli, where the first part is related to vǫrðr, meaning "guardian, watchman," while -hygli is derived from hugr, meaning "mind, soul, thought." Sometimes, vardøger is perceived as identical to a protective spirit, known as "fylgje."

We have quite the exact thing in Finland called "Etiäinen" Which literally is variated from word "edellä" which means "ahead or before"
What if this is a part of the person’s own spirit? If they are focussing very much on being at a certain place/time, and they manage to project a piece of themselves, subconsciously…
This was a really good one. For some reason the story about the doppelgänger who seemed so terrified of her mother was particularly unsettling to me and really creeped me out.

I love doppelganger stories . Like that old twilight zone episode " mirror image" rod serling was way ahead of the time . Beyond creepy to think another version of ourselves walking around in a parrelel universe .
I find doppelgangers extremely creepy but also very interesting. I think because of the fact there could be so many reasons behind this phenomenon. Such as ghosts, demons, parallel universes, time glitches, guardian angels etc and so on.

Both of my sisters live in California. One took a picture ( with permission) a few years back of a young guy almost identical to our younger brother...blew me away!! The difference between the two of them was almost impossible to spot...I can't even remember WHAT it was. 🤔 P.S. Our brother used to live there, as well. One time? I pulled in to a gas station, ninety eight Taurus station wagon, maroon. Pulled in next to same make, same model. I looked at the dude pumping gas? And it was me... Like even dyed his sideburns black. Blue Black just like me. We saw each other, and both our jaws dropped! Either there's a lot of douchebags with dyed sideburns, or I caught a glitch. Got in my car and drove to the next gas station.... That's enough creepy for me.
Those photos were chilling! Especially the last one, that is unmistakably a hand.
That second doppelganger story is creepy, and the art really sells it. Shivers.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I was haunted by a very tall figure wearing a trench coat and fedora hat when I was younger too! I had to pause the video now to comment! Every hair on my body is standing on end and I feel a sense of dread. Holy hell this triggered something deep... I saw it on more than one occasion. The first time I saw it I was walking out of my bedroom in my old house (I live in California) to put a cereal bowl in the sink around 11pm. I walked through the living room and standing in the doorway in front of my was this exact figure (maybe 7ft tall) with the head tilted down as if it was looking at me. It then disappeared. The next time I saw it was again at night and I had my window blinds open and this damn thing walked in front of my window. I immediately closed my window and blinds totally freaked out. The third time I saw it I was on a night walk during Christmas or Thanksgiving night with my cousins at my house. We were only waling around my court, so basically in a circle. Again I see this thing standing in the shadows in a neighbor's driveway. Last time I saw this thing was in my late teens (maybe 18). I'm 33 going on 34 now and haven't seen it since.
Oddly enough one of my older sisters was haunted by one with green eyes that was not wearing a hat or coat. She saw it in the same house and also when we were in Iran visiting family. Hers crawled through the damn window in Iran into the bedroom and she ran out in terror.
Thank you for sharing your story here. Many people around the world see these tall black figures in either cloaks/hoodies or fedora hats in the middle of the night. They usually stand in the corner and stare. Actually, I heard a valid theory that they are Observers, and they watch over how a person is doing and if they are following a certain path in life. Don't know if that's true. I personally never encountered them, but my friend did, and she told me about them long before they were discussed on the Internet. Hell, I think it was at the dawn of the Internet.
The fordora man, he has been seen everywhere and is mostly watches people. He won't attack unless provoked

You need to look up some podcasts about hatman. There's a staggering amount of people who have seen this bizarre entity.

I blame the Weinstein debacle and one of the actresses having a dubious claim in being descended from the Cherokees for it not getting the attention it deserved then. Also, audience exhaustion of same old detective flicks or something similar.
Wind River is a must watch great slow burn movie. With an ending that doesn't hang. Good stuff.

@@Steven_McCrae It's a semi-detective story/murder mystery about an incident that connects to Native American/American Indian tribal/spiritual culture, and how friends inside and outside (Whites and non-reservation residents) of that culture deal with it respectively. If you watch it, you'll understand exactly why Renner and Olsen were picked for their roles. It's got a hell of an ending.

Did Presley ever think that possibly it's our universe rubbing against another universe so much that her 'doppelganger' she's seeing is actually another version of her from another universe occasionally slipping into ours? I was just thinking that maybe why the teenager version was so shocked to see her mother b/c maybe in her universe:
Her mother was at work and left her purse at home?
Her parents had divorced years ago and she lived with her father and step-mother?
Her mother had died years ago and she was rummaging thru her step-mother's purse?
That could possibly explain the morbidly shockingly look she had on her face.

Oddly, I converse with a friend almost daily whom also lives in Kentucky, and just yesterday, (14th Jan '24), he was telling me of all the strange things HE had encountered in his town of Versailles, such as seeing a pair of eyes (and just eyes) descend down the stairs of his relatives' home (which still stands, but now surrounded by new housing- previously it was mostly farmland).
He, and his cousins also saw a UFO - which he drew for me just yesterday - and had also once seen a white, but slightly translucent 'dog' which walked a few steps and then vanished before their eyes, just a day or so after the UFO sighting. Again seen by both him and his two cousins.
He was about 10 or twelve and this was back around 1964.
Oh, and he said the 'dog' they saw was twice the size of his German shepherds, but 'smaller than a horse'!)
Seems as if there's more to Kentucky than just fried chicken!

I live in western KY. A friend of mine used to own a cabin along the road the union retreated after the battle of Sacramento. They buried as they went down the road. All kinds of weird shit happened at that place. The only thing I encountered, while not small, was 1 apparition. A friend and I went to the Cabin looking for a friend, but after we knocked we saw that no one was home. So I look to my right at the porch swing and I see what looks like a cigar or pipe light.. just the light, nothing emitted from it. I could just see the outline of a union trooper... hard to tell by color, it was in the evening. That was about all I took in before I look at my friend, who also was looking at it. Then he looked at me, and comically back at the apparition. It moved and so did we. That is the first and hopefully last time I ever do like one of them Dukes bothers and slide across a hood and go in through a window. Fuck. That. Older me wishes I hadnt ran.. but younger me Is likely smarter here. 20 years ago man...
Its kinda comical looking back on it. We looked at it, at each other, at it, then beat it to the car faster than I think I ever will move lol.

When i was a kid i saw the silhouette of a tall man in a trench coat with a top hat through my slightly cracked bedroom door. I froze and couldnt move. Went to sleep. Very wierd that only 40 years later people are describing exactly what I saw

Me too. Almost exactly the same. I didnt know about the hatman but i knew about shadow people and I had seen one before. I think theyre just pesky demons and as a Christian ik they have no power over me unless I allow them too. As soon as I had the though "oh thats a shadow person" when i was looking at the hatman "he" disappeared. It was about 5am and my parents were up getting ready for work so I could see through the glow of the light coming through the door but it was definitely either THE hatman or A hatman. It was about 7 foot tall. Long coat or robe and had a wide brimmed fedora like indiana jones style

The "Hat Monster" was my own personal childhood Boogie Man, I saw him on multiple occasions in my childhood home in Midland Texas in The mid 90s or at least I dreamt of him (I think) exept for one occasion where I know I was awake because I jumped up and flipped the lights on but he was gone and I couldn't sleep after. It wasnt until just a few years ago I discovered the Hat man is a commonly seen shadow person. There are sighting and storys about him all across the world, there's even a book about him. It gives me goosebumps And makes my hair stand on end every time I hear a similar story. Everything people describe about him is exactly what I remember. Honesty I outgrew my belief in ghosts a long time ago, but I dont know what the hat man is, but the coincidence that so many people have a similar story about some silent shadowy entity with no face and only identifiable by an old fashion hat and trenchcoat will never sit right with me. Thats the kind of thing that keeps me awake at night well into my 30s

It certainly wasn't what I was expecting, but it's fine. Doing voice work takes practice. No one starts off a pro. The first time I tried voicing an educational presentation it was horrid to me. I had to do mouth exercises, tongue exercises, etc. Eventually, it started to sound better. If this is Presley's first time, she sounds way better than me. So cheers, and the best of us welcome her! It's a chilling story!

7:38 My mother claims to have experienced this exact same event -hat-man and all- in our childhood home. She never told us about it until I was an adult, last year, because she didn't want to make us (more) fearful of the place.
Funny thing is, that tall man with the fedora haunted my sister and I when we were younger. Actually, his last appearance for me when I was in my twenties. He was absolutely terrifying

I'm from around the same area. A lot of religious and superstitious people live here. If you talk to some folks here about these topics, they might scrutinize you or maybe want to hang around your house so they can have a look. I know some people who want to dust of the ouija board so they could talk to the spirits. The Appalachian mountains have a lot of superstitions weaved in and out of it's culture.

i’m glad i’ve subscribed been binging for a while now and i soon as i saw the hat man i clicked . it’s crazy how accurate and similar the interpretation of whatever the figure is bleeds into every interaction . was left super stumped and confused and still am to this day when my sister and i had a interaction with it , just glad to see we weren’t seeing things or going crazy

BTS is my favorite channel. Scary stories make life less scary. Presleys voice is oddly soothing.
I remember when I was a child, when I was in a hotel near Paraguay with my family, I saw my mother's shadow in the bathroom, but this shadow was interacting with objects, when I asked my mother what he was doing and he was in bed Next door, when I asked her the shadow ran away and she asked me why I left the bathroom light on.
Could this be considered a shadow people or Doppelgänger or both?

You may well be among the people that are more sensitive to these events Presley, and from what you've said, it may well run in the family.
I've noticed something of pattern from many of these events I've been made award of. Those of us who are more sensitive to such thing can draw them to us in some ways.
It's not 100%, but that does seem to be the case in a number of these incidents.

This was a great personal story with a heartfelt narration. I got several chills throughout. Yeah, I'm going to have a hard time getting to sleep tonight. Which, maybe oddly, means I give this video a grade of A+++.

Good stories I think having her own voice was the only way to make them sound genuine. I agree with the end commentary that the spirit world and our world meshing is what produces these encounters.
I really appreciated this video. It was really cool to put the pictures Presley had at the end of the video. I'm never going to sleep again after seeing them, but they were cool.
Also, I thought her voice was fantastic. Very different from the usual, but pleasant and a little more informal.

I had a similar experience with the hat man described in this story too in that while walking down a corridor I saw him leaning (at the same angle shown in the picture accompanying the story), likewise no consequences or negative events occurred.
Some wildly negative comments here, this episode is fantastic and right on par with the regular content. I LOVE any paranormal activities in the USA in places just like this, fantastic stories and the narrator did a great job despite what all the negative people are whinging about.

That was like listening to nails on a chalkboard…
I am a 34 year old female and when i was 13 or 14, i was baby sitting 3 year old twins, a boy and a girl. It was night and i had just put the Bambi VHS in and sat down behind the kids on the couch. Out of the corner of my eye i saw a man that appeared to be wearing a tall hat with a brim leaning against the doorway to my left. Everything about him was solid black. I immediatley froze thinking someone had broke in and was trying to figure out what to do without giving away that i had spotted him and the boy i was babysitting looked over at him and yelled HEY!!!!! The little girl jumps up and starts babbling that twin babble which made me take my eyes off the thing for a millisecond and when i looked back he was gone. The boy who would always say what the girl was trying to babble then said, she said whose that? I then sprinted to the bedroom to grab the gun that had previousley been in between me and the figure and proceeded to check EVERYWHERE in the home. There was no one. I called the mom but everytime i picked up the land line there was a distant sounding coversation between 2 men and all i could understand was something about vegetables. I quit babysitting soon after that. It was only a couple of years ago that I heard about the hat man and immediatley thought it sounded so stupid till i heard the stories. I nearly threw up listening to them. I have had encounters with other shadow entities previously and after but never anything like that. Nothing has ever appeared that human. I was wide awake when it happened for sure as i had just sat down. For being as uneventful as it was, it provoked a deep fear. Clearing the home after was scarier than seeing it. I truly kept expecting something or someone to get me. All the windows and doors were still locked and the attic door had a lock on it that required a key so it was the only place i couldnt check. Ive always assumed the landline was wires getting crossed.

I had an experience with a shadow figure, but I think mine was a human spirit not a shadow person. But I did the same thing and grabbed my gun and searched my house and no one was there. I think the thought of a real intruder in my house freaked me out more than an actual ghost/spirit. I had lived in that house for over 8 years at this point and never experienced anything paranormal. The only thing I can relate it to is that same day around lunch my niece who lived with me and my mom were down the road picking up food at a restaurant and witnessed a horrible one car, car accident and they called 911. it literally happened right in front of them and the man in the accident died. I think he was confused and followed my niece and my mom to our house. My mom and dad lived right across the street from us. I know it was real because my 3 cats seen it too and my one cat was acting very strange but it didn't seem evil or negative by any means.
I really haven't had much experience with shadow people but I had a dream once about one I was in a mine I think I was a miner starving or something like that in a huge tunnel where a shadow man in a suit wearing a fedora with skin black as the void with mist coming off of em he was floating in the middle of the air I yelled out you won't find what your looking for as he turned a corner he came back and it felt like my skin my body was being crushed and I awoken feeling heavy as if I had been crushed under rocks it was odd as I rarely dream usually when I do it is always something horrible from death to darker things

Always love the personal stories. Presley has had some freaky shit happen to her! Those dark figures speeding round the house, and the Hat Man seriously freaked me out.😱
As someone who witnessed a stickman-like entity with a fedora type hat and a headless shadow person, I find your stories relatable. I always enjoy hearing paranormal stories from the person who experienced it.

One time I was sleeping and I heard a deep voice whispered into my ear in the middle of the night.I awoke in a sweat to find myself alone in my room. What troubled me most about this experience is what the voice said; "No bitches" I never recovered from that night.

I had the same thing happen to me in early 2008. Was sleeping in my apartment, alone, and a deep man's voice woke me with "I want to get some, too" O.o
I was once living abroad and was changing in my room when I heard a man lustfully say in my native tongue Yeeeeeah. Needless to say, I lived alone, there was no TV on, it didn't work, and there were no men around. I attribute it to sound hallucinations (never had one occur before or after, though), but it was weird as hell.
People if you don't like Presley's voice I'd say keep it to yourself as it's been made abundantly clear that this is a one off personal experience episode, and she's not the new narrator. However, if you just HAVE to say something about it, say it with tact and respect please. There is no reason to be rude and disrespectful to her. That being said, I thought she did a great job and from the BTS fans, welcome to the team and thank you for sharing.

Someone made the ASSumption that it was Canadian or US citizens that wrote negatively about Presley's voice. Shoot later and ask questions later, dude? Sheesh. I'm Canadian and find her voice friendly, down-to-earth and definitely not artificial.
