Absinthe is a beautiful spirit when done properly. I'm not a fan of black licorice but I do like good absinthe.

Very interesting video. Thank you for that, but allow me one little hint: These absinth-glases are made to help you mixing absinth right. So: If you fill the round bubble on the ground of the glass with absinth, you should fill all the rest of the glass completety up with ice-cold water. That will make the absinth more drinkable andit will help to solve allmost all the sugar (the lady wanted to add another cube, but the sugar she added was just not solved completely....).

Do you dry it before distilling?

    • @fugu4163

@@gregorysteele5269 You do need to dry it or the water in it will reduce the strength of its flavours.

Very interesting! I have never tasted Absinthe but I really enjoy ouzo. I always wondered just how bitter the wormwood is.

The other herbs do a good job of covering the bite of the wormwood, though it does have a mild one. Some regular drinkers aquire a taste for the bitterness, not using any sugar at all. I think if you like ouzo you'll like absinthe🤷‍♂️

You really should put the green one through the filter first, then pour through the clear one to rinse what's left in the filter.

Very cool Randy! but b4 you drink it, enlighten / fire up the Absinthe drained sugar. than put some spring water in it. the green will get foggy. in the good old days of Absinthe, guys like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent van Gogh dropped some Laudanum on the Sugar. Maybe that's the reason why he cut him self off an ear, when the green Fairy visited him. ;)

You have evecler alchool, 95 degree. after the maceration, you mix the alchool with water to reduce the degree of alchool , and afterwards you distill it. what is the point of that? I don't see the purpose of that. could someone explain it?

Powerful drugs? 😂 Old wives tale. Thujone is potentially toxic at high concentrations. As drugs are toxic then I guess you could call it a drug in that case. Kinda like caffeine is a drug. Powerful drugs that's funny. Just don't make videos of you doing it. Lol
