I have been trying to figure out where the filters are on our old LAT9700AAW model MayTag for a while and this video saved the day! We were able to clean out the whole underside and I’m hoping this fixes the white residue on black clothes issue. Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you so much for this clear and concise video. I was able to clean out my screens and underneath the agitator for the first time in 15 years! Great job!
Thank you so much for this video!!!! I was having a heck of a time finding my Maytags washing machine filter, and had no idea how to remove the agitator. 1/4" socket later and I finally did it!

On my similarly old washer (I also don't know the year) that bolt is actually a 1/4". I mention this because it's so hard to feel what's happening in that awkward position that I wasted way too long with a 5/16 thinking it was failing to seat on the bolt or something like that.
Thank you. Will try it out. My GE washer also gives me the lint issue. Who would design the lint filter like this?! All my old washers used decades ago already had the lint traps right at the wall of washing tub for ease of cleaning. I don't understand GE....
Thanks...we have Maytag washer of a similar vintage. Not sure how old - when we opened it up as you demonstrated, there were two screens, not one. Now I'd love to get at the drum and clean it, as I can see a lot of lint around the top rims. Any advice for doing this?
Great that you were able to follow the video and clean the screens. It will not be easy task to remove the drum completely. The front of the washer will have to be disengaged (springs at the bottom and top), the top cover will tilt back 90 degrees. Now to remove the drum you will need a special spanner wrench to remove the large bolt attached to the main shaft....then etc... One of these days I will post another video to demonstrate this....as I still did not get rid of all the lint 100%. !!
@@alennatchakerian2334 OK...I'll watch for it. I really appreciate your style...no wasting our time with unnecessary chatter, just a clear audio/visual of the actual process/technique.
Hello having a problem with my washer sounds like the drum is coming out when it spins , had it fixed but it still making that noise, could it be rhe rubber is missing.?
@stchakerian250 I have the same model and the same issue, called one day May Tag costumer service, and told her the model number. The worker by phone told me it was made as I remember 1996, so it’s 26 year old
god bless the people who post videos like this, they are the real heroes.

simple but very helpful video. Thank you!
Thanks super handy and straightforward, I saw the same problems as below. The manual says it self cleans but obviously that is not totally true.

Thanks. When we figured it wasn't a 5/16 I came to the comments to figure out the correct size.

Please, I want a method for a Maytag washing machine filter + a method for cleaning the entire washing machine + and the meanings of the buttons

It seems there is something loose or came apart after they fixed.
Hopefully you got it fixed.
Sorry for the delayed response
What model od Maytag is this
It doesn’t say on the front panel, but it’s 2 speed 9 cycles.
