to me this song is what being a woman feels like. so tragic, yet so momentarily promising when you crave the male attention. i’m especially feeling it at this point in life where i’m young and the only woman in my working space. in the beginning it felt beautiful, as i always loved the attention, always loved feeling seen and beautiful, but as time passes by i’m realising the inhumanity of it all. it feels as though drawing a parallel between fruit and women. the attention it draws when ripe and fresh, all its youth and beauty so promising, yet feeling as if that is all to it, even though one day it will be gone. like a small soon to end promise and nobody will ever pay attention to it anymore, as all there was that met the eye will have been long gone. like a scream that says “look at me now, it’s my season! i’m so young and prepossessing. capture it in the most inhuman way before it’s all gone and you can never appreciate it again” edit; realised i used the word ‘beautiful’ too many times lol, forgive me, english isn’t my first language i’m also going to have to reccomend the song ‘froot’ by marina to anyone possibly reading this!
The last relationship i was in wasn’t the best. My very close friend at the time ruined it for me and him by manipulating us both by telling us lies about each other. He always loved mitski and i have too so now when i listen to any of her songs all i can think of is him. It sucks so bad cause not only did i lose him i lost a person who was supposed to be my friend.
