Every traveler already pays airport tax/fees regardless of the country. It’s added to every ticket. That money is used for maintaining and beautification of the airports. There is no Covid fee so they are looking for other means to rip people off. Even if we are to pay just $1 per passenger, pls count how many airlines arrive and depart on daily basis and multiply that by the amount of passengers. Off the top of my head I can at least count 10 foreign airlines on daily basis with 500 passenger each in and out. That’s $5000 a day easy. Same number of passengers by that $20 and that’s $100,000 a day. Why, are they now going to build a new airport? Thieves!

I went to Newark Liberty airport ,during the covid time and they were charging $100 too for Covid test. That was if your flight had been canceled and it would affect your Covid test . But it was free at many places.

🌹 2) NB: The $100 & $50 dollars charged at Kotoka Airport in Ghana wasn't for COVID test. Yu fly ✈ to Ghana with a valid COVID test but still yu will be charged $100, $50, & that's was only in GHANA 🇬🇭. Other African countries will just check yur COVID test at the airport if valid, yu enter if not, yu pay the equivalence of $25 for it.. But in Ghana, they used to charge $100 & later $50 even if yu hold a valid COVID test, if yu don't have COVID test, yu will pay the double amount...
THEY WERE JUST ILLEGALLY EXTORTING MONEY from travelers....

We are being charged already for years . If you check on your flight tickets, the charges are there. For years all flights have that breakdown for passenger charges for the country you are visiting both your departure & destination. Alll the breakdown is in the airlines. They charge each passenger to be given to Ghana government which goes to the airport. You might think the morning is going to the airlines but their take home is small.
If they add it to the fare, how do we say no to that? Mtchew, as if we have an option. Here is the truth, they will add but nothing will be repaired.

This is a new construction, what is the manufacturer warranty on that. They should know the airport is not far away from the ocean and they should talk all that into consideration during the construction.

I am ashamed for Ghana. I have been in USA since 1974. I have been coming to Ghana several times to visit family but this $10.00 charge is shameful and last straw for me. I’m tired of bribery at the airport etc. This charge suggestion is ridiculous. I’m tired so instead of coming to Ghana to spend my dollars I will rather go to Bahamas, Europe etc and spend my money elsewhere. This is crazy. This is my two cents. 😡😡😡😡
What the hell!! How long has this terminal 3 been in existence???? Are you telling me there’s not already a revolving fund for maintenance at KIA?? Did they think the airport and its equipment were going to remain nice and shiny forever without maintenance??? What’s wrong with my people?
And how about this, a good look at and breakdown of my United Airlines fare shows that a good chunk of the fare went to KIA. So I believe a fund already exists. Or is that going into someone’s pocket?

This MP makes sense. Too many people working at the airport. For example that health booths to check yellow fever card is ridiculous. Why can't the immigration officers check do it to save time and money.
What do they do with the tax they collect from the airlines? The high airline ticket cost is as a results of high tax for airlines and you couldn't use that money to maintain the airport facilities.
