It's cool how they incorporated one of League's most integral mechanics, blaming your team for the loss, into their fighting game.
Exactly I am only playing solo on this shit I will never ever do team play on a fighting game. Who even thought about doing this. This is not going to work this is the worst idea ever
@@TheNerferiousbro chill, no one forcing u to play duos😂
@@tin-slayer-3368 I will never duo not in a quintillion years. In the 5v5 it only took one idiot to fuck up the game why would I do this when I have the option to play alone?
😂😂😂😂
@@TheNerferious chill dude lol
Just an observation. Since this is a team based game, it would be cool if characters did their winning animations together and some had special winning animations. I don't know much about the lore of LoL but this could bring the feeling that CVS2 gave us with the special intros (and Tekken 8 is doing now).
That sounds very monetizable too!
I'm pretty sure you can find videos of sets where the characters do their intros together. Haven't seen outros tho so hopefully they add that.
some of the stuff is still probably placeholder
I could definitely see them doing special duo intros and outros down the line once they start adding more polish to the game. The starting roster already includes a lot of characters that have ties to one another lore-wise -- Illaoi, Yasuo, and Ahri were all a crew for the Ruined King game while Jinx and Ekko have ties via the Arcane series
I would love Those kind of Winning animations, some specials interactions with the characters too
They Mike Wazowski'd Majin with the face cam that's messed up
"LOOK GARY, That's me, right there!" *points to hat in background*

@@doogies If anything, one of them should have been in your lap.

I love that there is now an arrow above the head of the active character whenever the other one comes up even if it's just an assist makes it very clear.
This game continues to look sick but I can't wait for the new excuse of "my teammate is trash" to enter the scene
haha^^ yeah. good thing there's an option to be trash on your own for all the salty players out there :D
Im so excited to be that teammate
Smash players would treat this like how they treat Multiversus, play for the VC and tourney money, and quit after the honeymoon phase is over. Damn why is it the west always gets the easy money.
This would be smurf troll haven
Already exist in the LoL itself 😂
the 2v2 mode is the main reason me and my fgc friends are interested in this game
its fairly unique and i like that its one of the main focuses in design, apparently
you see the vision

Smash players would treat this like how they treat Multiversus, play for the VC and tourney money, and quit after the honeymoon phase is over.
I hope they do push this as the competitive mode.
so that's why Nemo said.. he's feeling back home.. yep his Illaoi was clean
11:11 - the stance cancels look so fun
Lovin the 2XKO uploads. Hoping the playtest comes soon because I'm getting hyped
I am hyped as well cant wait to test this game out :D
Thanks for the vid. One thing that I think will be awesome is having the player audio. I know you probably couldnt do that this time but when the game is out in the world and tournaments are running, it will be great to hear players communicate like you described in the beginning of the vid.
thanks for watching. and yes! player audio with 2v2 will be great to have
The Voice Actress for AHRI Kinda sounds like Juri from SF ❤️
Smash players would call this 2v2 gameplay doubles.
I mean it is teams 🤣🤣
@@ChaoskaeI think doubles is a cool way of calling teams. I think its a pokemon refrence?
I think we need to call it duobles because the game is 2v2 always
Nah I rather use league term duos
@@AirventOS my man it's from tennis
Im all in for this kind of gameplay (2v2). Breaths fresh air in the FGC and promotes growth
How do dhcs work on doubles? Does the assist player input the 2nd super like during 17:27?
It might be one of those things where you have to use mic if you're playing teams online but this is very interesting to see
Like you said there's like a handful of games with team fighting I'm really liking the way this game is turning out
Xian and Mike Ross in Project L should be a comedy goldmine. How's this game gonna work offline though if you can hear the other team talking?
Also having the players be hooked up with mics so the stream can hear them talking at tournaments, at least 2 of them at a time, is going to be pretty important for viewers as well.
That's probably just going to be part of the experience at most tournaments like I imagine doubles in games like smash and Rivals of aether do it. It'd be kinda cool for different duos of players to have their own code words and phrases that their opponents have to try and figure out mid-match. Even crazier when some pair has a sign to switch what everything means so trying to listen in and remember backfires on their opponents.
God, watching gameplay of this game is so hard, because I often find myself just fantasizing about playing it myself with my friend while watching.
I get it man, just sitting here thinking how my friends will use assist and we both doubled die to a super 😂. Jokes aside I'm so hyped to play it and do some awesome combos all characters look very interesting to play
Playing a game like this is such a adrenaline rush but watching a game like this gives me a brain aneurysm

16:38 Illaoi happy birthday then Obama feeds and she gets another HB at 17:26 almost killing both characters in 2 combos
3:41 ... Her character select image isn't finished? When was this recorded?
I can see communicating with your friend next to you would be fun or someone that you know on comms.
But a random tho ? That communication will go LTG style very fast.
Pretty much the kind of experience on mobas.
You can still play solos anyway
I love the character select screen bgm. Do you think they’ll be adding a zoner archetype? I’d like to see xerath in that role
jinx is already in the game
The DOA / MK9 tag team memories coming back😢 Siblings got advantage out the gate, we coming in READY
The biggest thing is I hope they have quality and in depth stats from matches. Commentators would be so benefited around good in depth stats so they could do pre shows, post shows, and shows during the week going over that stuff like we see in LoL and other games. FGC needs that
API would be sick
I can't wait to get acquainted with the game proper. Currently I feel like I'm going crosseyed when a lot is going on and I don't know where to be focusing on the screen
The sound design in this game seems kinda lacking. I know it's not even in beta yet but the music is really generic and the hits don't sound powerful. Also sometimes there's no sound other than the generic music when a character dies. It's really weird. There should be an announcer or something for Down's and KO's and character select stuff on release, I'd hope.
And Ahri’s “surprise!” got old, really really fast.
Agreed, given it's alpha I have no doubt it will change, but the hit/on block sound is really hollow, especially on the lights.
this is a really early build. wouldnt be surprised if the audio stuff when it releases is WAYYY different.
The music is good, the characters just need to talk more. A simple: Got you!
"Nah ah"
"Face the wind!"
These would go a long way.
Its hard to go back to static osts after sf6. Im so used to the music changing as the match progresses.
@@sloesty I'm totally fine with static OST's. I'm saying the song on this stage is boring and generic. There's almost certainly going to be more on release.
Music is super important in fighting games and this is a bad first impression of both sound and soundtrack.
I'm so curious to see how bigger tournaments like Evo will handle this possibility for playing doubles, whether that is even going to be a real option or maybe more of "just for fun" brackets on the side.
yeah this was my question. I think 2v2 will look good on big stages, but Im wondering how that plays out at the ground level
does the tag is like bbtag where you can queue for action then tag to your partner, or does it not allow you to tag at all/cancels the action when tagged?
If you mean tagging after an assist while the character is on screen, 2XKO allows that
That Illaoi normal that looks like a light kick or something is insane. For a fast poke, look at the range and active frames on it. 23:33
her stand b
How much time did you guys get in the lab? Especially with a lab fiend like Nemo in the mix, I highly doubt it's you guys' fault but this looks like it needs a lot more sauce, both in neuch and in combos.
You should watch the other vids.
How to do the stomp on the ground?
How to cancel the combo?
I'm personally excited for this feature because I have friends that play fighting games, but not as much as I do. Understandably, they don't really have fun getting bopped for hours when I play against them, but with Doubles, we can enjoy what would likely be for us a more casual experience that can be fun for everyone.
It would be nice if this game's success influences the big pillars of the genre to invest in a special 2v2 tag mode for all their games. It doesnt need to be exactly like this, which might have game breaking implications for some franchises... it could be basic tag mechanics. This is something that most franchises could have today, but it just wasnt favored because of the heavy serious tryhard competitive bias that surrounds these games and their communities.
Like team mode (Turn Based KOF style) for 1v1 games is something that is slowly being more pushed, but anyways its good that companies are realizing that it only helps to enhance the fun in the games. SF5 got it, GGST is getting it, etc. That is also something that most 1v1 fg franchises should have by now. I just remembered now that UMK3 had a team mode. That one was a true pioneer.
That Ekko pressure from 6:12 was nuts, almost 100 to 0 the Yas, that position swap move seems like people can get nutty with it to really extend combos, pity he dropped the meaty at the end. I love using the 2nd players assist into swap as a cross up too, Prediction: 2v2 meta will settle on using the Freestyle handshake tag for maximum flexibility and mind games.
It's really a fine tradition of RIOT GAMES that a game where you win or lose based on your strength rounds turns into a rant/blame your teammates game!
You can also play 1v2 in this game right? If so I think it would be interesting to have brackets with both solos and duos allowed
I feel like I still don't understand. Does this 2v2 mode add anything to the game over a normal assist fighter, other than it switching who is in control of the point character? I was sort of hoping they had some idea that made the game too complex to have all of the mechanics be controlled by one player if they are focusing on this. It just seems like splitting a tag fighter across two controllers. Still sounds fun to do sometimes, but it doesn't seem like something that would stay relevant unless I am missing something huge. My main problem is that it only seems to add drawbacks other than the novelty and fun factor of playing with two people. It seems like it will just be easier to drop combos without anything extra added to make up for it.
Basically, what I'm trying to figure out is this: Is this mode somehow different than the 2v2 mode in Street Fighter x Tekken in some way that I'm not getting?
I get what you mean. I wouldn't want to play UMvC3 if I needed my partner(s) to know when to use their assist in my combos.
On the other hand, if we had a mechanic like BBTag/SFxT/MvC1 where you control both characters at once, that would be different if controlled by two people vs solo. Sounds hilariously unbalanced... but probably fun like SFxT scramble mode was lol
The Team thing is def top tier for multiplayer gameplay, looking forward for what it becomes
The gameplay pace is very good so far. It’ll be interesting to see new player adapt to the idea of calling assist very carefully, cos it seems like you certain characters can combo the assist character high up out of reach😭
“Dos Ekis Kao” looks awesome. Does the game allow for 2v1(controlling 2 characters)?
Literally look at my youtube upload list...
@@doogies Literally will do. This is your first vid to appear in my feed.
This game is so sick, I love the idea behind a true 2v2 fighting game and I love the devs behind it. I think it still needs the smallest bit of work in terms of making things look smoother animation wise (they’ll probably do this at the end I’m guessing) but once that’s happened, it will be perfect. Even now I’m itching to get my hands on it!
Ive been asking and waiting for a team fighting game for years, I always thought that Naruto clash of ninja did a good job with it and was looking forward to cerebrawl. But 2XKO is the perfect game allowing for the most fun BS and also having a way for me to play with my more casual friends and my competitive friends. It’s also a good excuse to stir my LoL friends into the FGC. All in all I’m really glad
So is this only multiplayer 2v2 or can you also play solo both characters just like you play all 3 characters in DB fighterz
you can do any combination. 1v2 1v1 2v2
Wait I thought both characters on the team would be on the victory screen? Did i miss remember that or did Riot change it?
Only question I got, do you know if there was an alternate command for dash/parry? I only saw the macro buttons for them in pics and would be sad to play 8 buttons like these leverless heathens
yeah parry was 4ac iirc? dash was ab
@@doogies hell yeah this is what I wanted to know, thanks homie
A friend of mine and I used to play MK9 Tag mode obsessively online, and sfxt as well. i cant wait for this game
I could see this game having similar tournament structures to smash where there's a singles bracket and a separate doubles bracket.
I hope there's 2 ranked modes one for solo and 2v2..I think it would be SUPER FUN to work with a second..but at the same time a solo player would have an advantage
Imagine skipping intros and the game isn't even out yet 💀
the game looks like it's choppy or slow? i can't explain it. i know it's 60fps but it doesn't look like it. almost like it's in slow motion like multiversus.
I can ASSURE you, it is not in "slow motion like multiversus" lol
Little complaint. They should touch up on how the camera works. In 9:53 and 12:48 i got a little disoriented watching the game cause the camera started doing weird stuff.
27:01 illaoi sacrifices herself. What a bro.
Oh, I'm loving this gameplay from Illaoi. She looks suitably weighty and imposing. Can't wait to get my hands on this.
31:56 - Majin Obama with them old man reactions. lol
hes faster than you think....
hey thanks for the footage!
I'm hoping we get some more 1v1 footage of this game soon. I know they're pushing the 2v2 as the focal point, and its definitely unique and interesting. But I personally see myself playing way more 1v1 than 2v2 with the idea of playing around with team compositions on my own. Instead of relying on what my friends are playing
Just go watch some MVCI and BBTAG to see how it would be played.
Go check out the redbull vods since they have 1 v 1 matches there
Reminds me of Mortal komat 9 tag team fights … the best times
Does this game not have counter hits? It seems that a counter hit has been replaced by "interrupt", which likely means there's no such thing as counter hit starters
I cannot wait for this game. I am definitely going to try and play Echo.
What the genre always lacked were actual "cooperative" modes.
Ngl, It's always a struggle to get friends into the genre because, what you gonna do? Go into training mode, explain the verry basics and sandbag the following matches when playing against them? Not fun for them because they know I'm holding back but also obviously you can't go all out as well.
Even though I never liked team or tag fighters, having way to finally get them to know the genre through a mode you can play together is awesome and a great idea and it fits this game in particular.
The only way to do it usually is when you have the friend who's competitive enough that their instinct isn't to not play because they're losing, but to get better at it so they can beat you.
That's huge. The most I could do so far was teaching a blockstring, a pressure reset, and a mixup, and then making them open me up without OSing on defense. That can still be fun, but not like actually helping each other, and trying to coordinate.
17:20 bah gawd that's a lotta damage!
Damn they got the Morrigan color pallete for Ahri that's sick
That’s very smart getting all the sf pros to play the demo
30:14 I don't get why this was a loss when p1 side was up a character. I guess it's decided by net health?
In the event of a time out it is usually decided by net health. That way someone with 1 character at 90% health still gets the win over 2 people with 30%.
So hyped for Project L !
The wait for this game is a painful one. Hopefully the at home playtests start soon.
Damn, that's crazy. I was just thinking to myself the other day how cool it would be to try an MvC style game where you and a teammate each control one character.
Yeah, the idea itself isnt brand new but i believe it's the first time it's tried in this MvC style gameplay. So that makes me very curious about how it's going to play, especially in low level. I get the feeling that slower gameplay styles are more fitting... precisely like SFxTK.
"I wander, but YOU are lost" has to be the hardest line I've heard in this game so far 🔥CANT WAIT TO PLAY!!
Can you keep using the assist while being dead? or am i wrong?
Yes! Good eye. In fact, you actually get a buffed version of the assist
@@doogies nice
If they ever do DLC commentators, I think it would also be cool if we had 2 also. Like the 2 from Platinum Games' Madworld.
My wishlist:
Majin Obama x Sexy Steve
Aris x any loud Japanese commentator (those guys are fire)
Spag x Sajam.
Or any combination of the above.
They could really go crazy with the concept of pairs the more I think about it.
My only issue is there is not enough time for the sets. The clock hits zero so fast that there is going to be alot of time out matches. They need to add another 50 seconds
i dont think thats an issue. there is more than enough time but early on these games can play out like this because players arent optimized yet
@@doogies that is a good point. What I like is that the damage isn't absurd like gg strive
@@the-last-brandon *yet
gonna be so funny when in a 2v2 discord call, if the point player asks assist to burst you can easily try to bait the burst
cant wait! they need to have better sounds
Why the animations and frames look so damn smooth? 👀
cuz the game is not rushed and had a pretty big budget and his creators loves the fighting games.
2 Vs 2 it's why I want this game to come out
The characters need to talk more.
Like in sf6 certain moves invoke certain quotes.
"Bringing the heat" "up and over" "no escape" "hold this l" "widns gather" "spiral arrow!"
This game feels awfully quiet, with grunty noises
its in development, im sure stuff like that will change, especially given feedback
Seems like a great way to play fighting games with my friends who are inexperienced. We can still enjoy the game together without me pummeling them.
31:41
Ekko: "I got you!"
Ahri: "No you don't"
😏
3:24 So we not gonna talk about how they picked their characters in syced with the music?
Any advantages playing in teams instead of one person controlling 2 chars?
I believe there are some techniques that are only possible with a duo, time will tell
How do i play this game ? Is it on steam or Xbox store ???✅✅✅looks nice
Go to Japan or Riot headquarters and ask
Or wait for release next year like everybody else
It looks so visually good 👍 even the menu screens…
This looks hella fun as an spectator! For me to play with a partner is a no no ... I suck at communicating and something like this requires a huge amount of cynergy between players...Im defeated from the start right away. I still think I would like the game as 1V1 or 1V2 with me having control both of my characters. But would definitely love to see a 2V2 tourney.
might be time to up that communication game buddy. its not as hard as you think
This game is gonna be the most fun playing with four people for sure 💯
fax
It feels like they could use another soundpass for this game.
Aside from the obvious change the name to something actually good.
That’s ekko from Arcane!
The 2v2 aspect is definitely interesting. I struggle at any fighting game with assists, it’s like information overload with all the stuff going on the screen for me. Lol why do Smashers not call it Team battle? It’s what*the game calls it!*
im worried the release roster will be like 8 characters tops. which is very small
Def hoping for a 14-16 char roster on launch
The game looks so much faster than before.
Ekko,set, and viego my mains
Not gonna lie, it's kinda messed up they didn't show your face.
I know the guy on the other end of the couch is a bit out of frame, but at least you can still see his face. All we get is Majin-arm?
I just didn't want to sit on nemos lap man its not a big deal
I would hate this as the main way to play the game but as a side option and run it as a side event that would be sick
the 2v2 mode looks like a nice change of pace like ARAM from normal rift but I can't see myself personally going at it as my main mode to play the game. Just seems weird trying to communicating some stuff with a partner in a fast paced and chaotic style of fg like this.
I appriciate its there for what its worth :/
"seems weird" its different, thats one reason why it is a unique pull. its not as strange as you think
@@doogies That may be the case, ofc I will be trying it to fully decide when I’ll get a chance. That’s why this mode got most of my attention since it’s the most uncharted territory.

Not my kinda game, I'm out personally but I'm sure the 2-player mechanic will be fun to watch once people master it
oh this looks fun and good actually
The Ekko combination starting at 3:16 was amazing, what's crazy is I could tell there was comeback potential because the momentum of the match shifted so hard in Tachikawas' favor even though he was on his last leg.
Did anyone else notice that Illaoi didn't actually say anything. Just grunts and yells😂😂
Wish they would do it umvc3 style and just make them eat a mixup.
Game seems fun but listening to Ahri's "surprise ~mwah~" will become grating very fast imo.
Will there be more than literally 4 character?
5* right now
do u know what early access means?
