  • FlyWire tests the results from various modifications to the airplane on cruise performance. Check it out to see what has the biggest impact on cruise speed: Is it losing a bunch of weight, putting on a new propeller design, or how about adding an engine with lots more horsepower? Spoiler alert.... I included a little eye candy in the middle, it didn't have anything to do with the flight testing, but it actually happened and it was fun.

    So it was the MTV-15-D model? And it performed equally well in climb?

    What MT prop did you purchase? Was is the MTV-15-D? And it obviously helped with cruise performance. Did it also help with your climb performance?

      Yes, I chose the two blade because its of cruise speed issues and initial thrust on takeoff.

    The biggest speed increase with my A185E was the addition of flap gap seals and electronic ignition.
    Sportsman cuff, WingX and Micro Aero VG’s with a two-blade, 86” McCauley.

      sylvain roy Electronics International, replacing the right mag and firing the bottom plugs. I run LOP (with GAMI’s) every flight. The only negative is a slight amount of static in the intercom system. They tell me not everyone experiences this. I find it a minor inconvenience given all the advantages. If solo, I go to pilot isolate on the intercom panel.
