I will do another propagation video when my plent gets healthier :) perhaps in the summer :)

    I don't understand the mean comments, to me the video was very helpful and wonderfully thorough, for english isn't my native language, it's easier to watch someone guide me through this process instead of reading bunch of text online.

    Awesome info, thanks for covering both water and soil prop. methods. I have an incredibly hardy Ivy here in CO that climbs the brick in the front of the house. I plan on taking some cuttings before the owner rips down the grape vines in back that climb the covered patio (which I will also clone before they're pulled and move it to where it can grow and not bother anyone). My idea being that I could potentially replace the grapevine that attracts raccoons etc. with the Ivy which will still climb and shade without the sweet grapes to attract animals.

  • @PlantzNThings
    @PlantzNThings  Před 11 lety +3

    that is very true that water roots are much different than soil roots. most of the time when you pot the plant into dirt after they rooted in water it takes them a long time to recover.. it is almost better to use soil from the start :) not sure what variety of ivy it is.. it didn't have a very good tag... they are just a variety of hedra helix i'm sure

    Variegated bush ivy is a non-invasive way to grow this plant. Thats what I grow and sell at my nursery, rather then the very common spreading invasive type.

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  Před 9 lety

      Heidi Sifein it should be fine to do in hot weather because ivy usually already has roots developing... just make sure to keep them watered. but waiting for the temps to cool would likely give you a higher success rate.

    Can you split up one cutting that you took to make more ivy than one stem

    • @PlantzNThings
      @PlantzNThings  Před 5 lety

      you can... you need at least 2 nodes in the cutting... one goes in the soil.. the other will be exposed... the new growth should start there
