I will do another propagation video when my plent gets healthier :) perhaps in the summer :)

Watching gardening videos on youtube is my new favorite thing
Me too :)
And me
Me too , I was a hoe before quarantine
I don't understand the mean comments, to me the video was very helpful and wonderfully thorough, for english isn't my native language, it's easier to watch someone guide me through this process instead of reading bunch of text online.
Thank you. :) there are many people with different opinions there are so many ways to grow and divide plants. I don't like the mean comments either but it's part of the online world sadly.
+Gwen Yakamoz They probably thought propagating meant getting rid of. I for one LOVE Ivy.
Fei
PlantzNThings those mean people should be propagating themselves 🤣
Don't bother yourself with the trolls...they are just nasty unhappy people dumping their inner garbage on the first best person...continue what you do!!!👍
“...you probably stuck it in the ground upside down and it didn’t know what to do.”
😂😂😂
Honestly when he said that I thought back to when I’ve had both ends cut on a vine and never thought to pay attention and now I’m thinking that’s probably why some died and some did really good with the for sure tips sticking out.
I felt that when he said, "oop, I'm a little too high" .

i am holding my ivy while watching this video and I just noticed the horror I made the plat went through, a tutorial of what I am going to do to her later.
Imagine the opposite, the Ivy holding a human, watching how-to propagate his human. Pretty horrific to imagine.
Anyowuuuuu, thanks for the video, super helpful
Lol...
At least humans don't propagate by cuttings 👀
If you never saw Rick and Morty where Pizza's are on the phone ordering humans and trying to decide toppings the show is for you lol
@@ethanboyd7843 I actually love Rick and Morty, that scene is actually one of my favourites in the entire show! Also love the part that chairs are sitting on humans eating phones 🤣
Most unique and helpful video. Usually people just show beautiful plants and the audience with trouble, don’t really find the right answers.
Thanks very much.
i talk to my plants, but only the english ivy understands
Gerry Aire lol
Gerry Aire I have a good laugh
TOO FUNNY GERRY, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Lol ... It actually works (talking to plants in general that is- albeit naturally English Ivy are a bit more aristocratic ;))
😂😂😂 Thank you for that giggle. I needed it. 😂😂😂
Excellent video. Each video I've watched of yours is excellent. You share a lot of info in such a simple, easy to understand way. Perfect for new gardeners like me. Your enthusiasm is catchy too :) Thank you!
Thank you :)
Yes, I agree. It’s the simplest things that often get missed. I appreciate your attention to detail.
The comments are haters you are awesome for showing us this
These are supposively one of the best indoor plants as it is a great air purifier
supposedly
Awesome info, thanks for covering both water and soil prop. methods. I have an incredibly hardy Ivy here in CO that climbs the brick in the front of the house. I plan on taking some cuttings before the owner rips down the grape vines in back that climb the covered patio (which I will also clone before they're pulled and move it to where it can grow and not bother anyone). My idea being that I could potentially replace the grapevine that attracts raccoons etc. with the Ivy which will still climb and shade without the sweet grapes to attract animals.
games
that makes sense :) i like to keep my ivy in pots.. but unfortunately it hates growing in my home :( they rarely survive inside for me.
Did you ever happen to make the update? Cant seem to find it?
I am also looking for the update!!
Yaa
that is very true that water roots are much different than soil roots. most of the time when you pot the plant into dirt after they rooted in water it takes them a long time to recover.. it is almost better to use soil from the start :) not sure what variety of ivy it is.. it didn't have a very good tag... they are just a variety of hedra helix i'm sure
It says ten years keep going , I’m watching from Yorkshire England desperate to cover forprivacy ❤🏴
It's a great plant to propagate quick... just be aware that it can me invasive...
Just discovered your content. Learning lots.
great video. easy to understand. i hate when videos use such big words and you have no idea what they're talking about. thanks for talking plain and regular!
Thank you :)
I get told this a lot. Gardening shouldn't feel hard. sure I understand the big complicated words from school but that's not the language I like to use... even when I talk to my friends in the industry I feel put off when I hear them talk... sounds harder than it is.
Completely agree! Great info made simple 😊
You gotta cut them and leave them on water an about a week or 2 white roots will start to grow
2:47 this made me laugh so much!
This guy is so sweet, I'm guessing Canadian, Wisconsin or Missouri?
Awesome video, I have a heck of a time trying to grow ivy. I hear that it's one of the easiest plants to grow somehow I kill it every time.
Omg! Thank goodness! The best ivy video ever most informative and to the point.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this great video. Has anyone ever told you that you sound a lot like Tom Green? That isn't a criticism, I grew up in the Ottawa area, just sounds really familiar to me.
thank you for this. I love ivy plants.
Thanks for this informative video,as much as I enjoy ivy they always die on me.
Mine too... i looked downstairs yesturday.. there are new leaves sprouting but no signs of roots.. Hmmm
Do you have another Video showing what they look like after a couple weeks?
Properly explained makes it easier
Thanks for sharing.
Try growing your Ivy outside during the winter. Most are hardy to zone 5.
Oh by the way, Any updates on these cuttings? Thanks for your videos They are awesome 😁
I too wish to see the update on these cuttings 🤔
I would to
Yes updates ? Did they sprout roots ? Wats the use of the video if they don’t ? Thanks
First update:

Cool!. Didn't know vines had feet too, I have a different vine than this and its roots are not as evident as in this one but I found them. It's just like propagating mint and strawberry plants. Thanks for this video.
Thanks for asking :) they still look good... no root development yet. but thanks for making my check them. there was a little too much humidity in the greenhouse and the leaves had started to mold... so i opened up the vent holes to reduce the humidity :) I will keep you posted :)
PlantzNThings hows the ivy doing now?
PlantzNThings how’d it go?
I was also wondering if i can plant to different kinds of ivy together in the same pot
Thanks.... Exactly what I was looking for.... I'm putting a cheap fence up n thought this might be a cheap way to get some privacy.... I wonder how long it will take to grow up a 5f fence...
Jamie Cintron it’s invasive to the point where once it gets out of hand it’s almost impossible to get rid of it. It grows really fast too in the outdoors, so you will always be busy ;(
LOL.. i love them :) i have several colors. :)
This is a useful video, and it comes from a good place, but it could have been cut to a 3 minute video without losing any information.
That's why I increased this video speed to 2x ... 😘
I actually do this *frequently* when binging on these videos, because much of it I've heard before. I'm looking for new ideas, and if they appear, I repeat at normal speed.
My mom has hers outside and they never died in the snow
francisco rico mine too
I have just made my cutting, wish me luck she roots!
Yay!!! Good Luck 👍
I could make a video about how to propagate ivy from cuttings if you want to make sure they die. I'm quite good at it.
Variegated bush ivy is a non-invasive way to grow this plant. Thats what I grow and sell at my nursery, rather then the very common spreading invasive type.
Its botanical name is Hedera algeriensis variegata "gloire day marengo".
This video was so helpful! Thank you
Really informative and friendly! My plants love you!
I've been doing something very similar with cuttings from my mothers plant.
Love how old school this is
Ha! I think that is what happened with my ivy's, I planted them upside down.
New subs here from Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
The vealragated ivies grow great in north carolina zone 7. Algerian ivy the largest ivy will also grow grew when up against a wall or protected from strong cold winds. All vaig a ted variety will gro great and love shade and periodic fertilizer.
I have those exact scissors. I should send you some pruning shears.
Excellent! So informative! ❤
helpful puning? lets hope the plant really bushes out soon and pops back to life
Ivy is great inside as long as you never ever let it grow in the wild or it will literally take over the whole forest
thanku very useful info ... i want to propagate my frs plant(scarlet creeper) with stem cutting... which looks like ivy but it's having lil red flowers
Nice!! some ivy's survive our winters... but i don't like risking the lives of the ones i like :)
Very informative. Thanks, man!
I have noticed with houseplants,
They seem a lot happier growing in pure moss rather than soil.
Very unusual to me
But it works.
Really? I have never tried this, do you collect the moss or can you buy it?
Algerian ivy is hardy here in zone 7 north carolina. And the variegated as well roots very fast and grows leaves very hige. Great fir shady damp areas. No full sun
Thanks for the great guide!
Please give that "mother" plant some water and some light. Why would you propagate more when you're not taking care of the big one you have now?
Dope where’s the update?
where is the update?
Sadly, the cuttings died. He joined the cast of Modern Family and he no longer had the time.
I have probably 40 ft of ivy and I’m going to take half or more and give to a couple friends. What’s the best way to do that? Should I separate it into shorter sections?
love the scissors :)
08:10 dip it in some rooting powder that you get from the dollar store i heard before you put it in pot i hear it grows quicker
Hi! Can you post a link to the update in the description box, please?
I stuck a ivy cutting in water a couple of months ago, its getting new leaves but no roots ..hmm
Great video and I am using the same scissors
When he coughed- oh boy my thoughts went „Corona Virus“
I've heard that propagating with water almost always has faster root growth, but the roots are weaker than plants propagated in soil. Something to do with lack of oxygen and nutrients in water I think? I Can't wait to see how full your ivy will get, what kind of ivy is it?
Can I leave the long ivy cutting? Not short sprigs?
Thank you for the video. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong because my indoor ivy plants always seem to turn black and die. I keep trying though.
He said the cuttings grew roots but there actually grips for the ivy to grow on walls
Result video??
I use the kid scissors for all small cutting projects in the garden..:))
ihad 2 of this form of ivy but mycat desimated it and i have half of one left
can I use English from my yard as a houseplant
Why do you put some cuttings in soil and others in water?
How can i tell if my ivy is overwatered? Will the roots be brown or black?
The roots on it are white but its wilted so im tryin to.figure out if its overwatered
Do u think ivy can live in a humid area? Like rainforest terrain.?
Did it work, where is the follow up vid?
I play music for my plant. It grows faster with 70s 80s music.
Great...
lol Thanks
I love that i'm not the only one...lol.. what color do you use? :)
how is the ivy looking? keep us posted
First update
czcams.com/video/DYYeULUIvjA/video.html
I can't find the follow up video? Can someone share a link?
I thought IVY likes to ramble until I heard this guy.
yeah, helpful but could have been cut in half, hahaha
i have a few algerian ivys growing indoors. Im having some issues with the tips of the leaves turning brown. What can i do to save them?
Im propagating my english ivy by sticking the stems in a jar of water, how long would It usually take for the roots to come in? Also different topic sort of ,my soleirolia soleirolii is getting too long so i just cut some and placed them in moistened soil and made sure They are getting enough humidity and light i dont know If theyll successfully grow some roots though
How to track updates? I see no link in the description nor anywhere in the comment !!!
🤣 Me too , they seem to grow nicer to music
It's a hard life pullin' roots and prunin' stems
So I have this ivy in my backyard that might be older than I am, considering it has something that could be called a trunk, the size of my upper arm. I was thinking about getting that part indoors and seeing if I could bonsai it.
My main question is, is it at all a good idea to take a 'cutting' from a very tick, branch/trunk part of an ivy? And if so, should it be put in soil or water?
YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE SUCCESS WITH THE NEWER GROWTH UNFORTUNATELY
Denny Nason Capslock?
Button was stuck lol
Denny Nason Lol!
this is so cute
so where was the update
Hi! Do you have some ivy cuttings to share?
can i get roots on it if i put the leaf into water?
Thanks! What soil mixture did you use for them?
Haha he's so cool
You said u would make more videos on spider plants about a month ago so can u make them soon
What did you have for breakfast??😳
I live in egypt so it's almost always warm weather. Can I do this in hot weather or should I wait units it cools down a bit?
Heidi Sifein it should be fine to do in hot weather because ivy usually already has roots developing... just make sure to keep them watered. but waiting for the temps to cool would likely give you a higher success rate.
Can you split up one cutting that you took to make more ivy than one stem
you can... you need at least 2 nodes in the cutting... one goes in the soil.. the other will be exposed... the new growth should start there
