I have the same panel you are showing here, and the main breaker failed on the right side after 1 year....The first time I turned it off, it failed to go back on.

Hi Ron, So going forward do you plan to pretest the main breakers before installing the panels? Has Square D asked you to return the breakers for failure analysis?

Thanks for watching and the very great questions. I could test the main breakers with current flow/ voltage đŸ€” on a test bench, but not under heavy load. Two of the past panels that had bad main breakers were purchased through big box stores. Their return and documenting process Lacks for public concern with faulty product. On the other hand, supply houses are your best bet for getting back to the manufacturer with issues of high concern. The panel bought for this house was from E.D. supply of Salisbury MD. They sent it back to the manufacture
( note: defective). I've never heard back. I might add Square D representative visits there frequently and they do listen to electricians concerns regarding products. I have first-hand experience in dealing with
(SQ-D Snyder's electric) but they never acknowledged of a product that was made from my suggestion that's in production today.😰 That will be the last time I give away a patentable idea.

Moving the breaker to the other side did not place it on the other buss line, you would have to move the breaker up 1 space to be on the other buss...
spaces 1 & 2 are on the same leg, spaces 3 & 4 (up 1 space) are on the other leg. Think 240v breakers, 2 spaces...
Just turning OFF the main and resetting it fixed your problem...

Thanks for watching Jeffrey 👍 You caught me. You're right about space 1&2 on the same bus, and 3&4 on the other bus. You got a good eye ! When I switched side đŸ€” my train of thought was the opposite side to use the factory breaker
knock-outs. Realizing this on camera I quickly placed it on the next bus up. The main was bad, I turn it off and on before video started to roll. Thanks for watching and the comment 👍👍

Not that I have any reason to doubt what you are saying or suggesting anything at all, but casually watching your video it would have been nice to see you take a voltage reading before the main breaker on the main lugs as well.

Thanks best shot for watching and commenting. It's said what's going on right now. The worst product of 2022 that I had to stop using is South wire 14-2 NM 1000' spoils. It seems to be the only wire size effected. I'll be doing a video of that problem soon. I hope things get better soon and back to a more normal, like before Covid đŸ˜„

@@workingmanrondoyle3287 unfortunately I do not see them getting better in the near future. I have been in electrician for about 16 years and a new contractor for about 3years now and I am curious to know how you price your new construction jobs? @@bestshot300 Well, I believe our standard of living is cheaper over here on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Right now we're still on 2017 Electrical codes. As soon as the 2020 or 2023 kicks in, my prices will be much higher. Electrical contractors charge between $60. to $120. Per hour for service work. Wiring new construction homes is ranging $6.50 to $10.00 per sq.ft. depending on the houses layout plans and materials cost going up😰. Standard ceiling cans are $65.00 each at 8'to 9' height. More for tall cathedral ceilings. Running underground pvc conduit is outrageous right now. I stopped giving quotes on pvc material, just trench cost. I'm curious to what your charging over in California đŸ€”

Hey Daniel, I've never done that application before but you can sub- feed a 200 amp main lug or main breaker panel with 100 amp.
If your wanting to install a 100 amp breaker into a 200 amp panel will fit? That would be a question for your local supply house to answer.
