Your method of installing the service wires thru the BLOODY PLASTIC piece of the weatherhead is fantastic. Your video is a GREAT VIDEO for all apprentices to watch. Yes , I agree with many of the comments below as well , BUT , the gist of MAKING IT EASY ON YOUR BODY WITHOUT TUGGING , PULLING AND PUSHING THE SERVICE WIRES , will save the backs , elbows , hands , forearms , etc. , from arthritis once apprentices become OLD ELECTRICIANS. Well done.
You made that look easy. Thanks for sharing. I am installing my mast and weather head this weekend, and this video showed me exactly how best to get the wires in the weather head.
You can't have a bare neutral going up the mast. It is a current carrying conductor and must be insulated. You will have a galvanic action between the steel mast and the aluminum. Dissimilar metals. Aluminum will corrode and eventually be eaten away. The pipe is grounded. Only place grounding and grounded conductors are together is at the first means if disconnect, not by aluminum shorting to metal mast. That wire is meant to be installed exposed as a service drop off the utility pole and that's legal. It could be used as an equipment ground if you didn't need a neutral wire.
What is the cost to just extend the pipe to go through the roof ? Right now it sits under the fascia but I need to extend it through the roof as the power line is starting to drag on my roof . I called electric company but they said it's because my mast is not going to the roof
running seu through conduit isnt against code is it? I gotta do a service next week but wasnt sure if i should just get seu or 4/0 conductors and run it through ridgid
It has to do with temperature. When conduit is near the roof it needs to have either thhn or UF. I'm not sure what the temp rating is for the service cable he is using. Here in Denver we pack duct seal in the pipe before we put the weather head on.
I have been an electrician for 18 years. there are so many things wrong with this installation its shameful. When your house burns down insurance is going to deny your claim. Btw no guy wire or stiff leg kit. This would never pass inspection
Tip. File your pipe before you put your wire in. This way it’s not in your way

Great vid men! Awesome up close look at this aspect of a service install.
Great video. Thank you. Just what I needed to see and start doing my weatherhead.
This brother seems to have a lot of knowledge about his job. Good Video👍🏾
My first service re-do. Great video. Thanks.

Same here because no one else explained this very good video

Correct. Same reason you have anodes for water heaters and boat motors = electrolysis.
Thank you very much, this was highly informative.
Plumbers crack! lol Thansk for the info. Helping me out on my 1st service change!
I had one simple question and it took 6 videos to get that answer. Thank you for not having me making it to number 7. Peace and always be safe!
Did you team the conduit before you pulled the wire or are you just showing us it needed to be reamed
I find it easier to prebend my conductors the way they would be exiting the weather head then slide the knockout piece up the wires and put in place.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Good video Bro.👍🏾
Loved it brother
Thank you Brother!
One thing left out in the is the 2 guy wires that's needed to keep mast @ 90 deg,
It's only if the mast exceeds a certain height that guy wires are required unless the local authority having jurisdiction states otherwise.
Ser cable is not allowed in conduit, except in his area, it's easier just to use 2/0 copper
Cheaper to use4/0 aluminum
Exactly. Go with insulated copper. It's only been around for a hundred years. There must be a reason.
Thank you👍
He walked on the ridge vent 0_0
always deburr before installing the wires
thank you
What kind of cable is that?
Never seen a cable in a service mast before.
Up in Canada we mostly use rw90 or usei. At least where I am anyways
Greetings handy man, how deep 2" rigid from roof? show me the steps what size wire above roof?
I thought sheathed cable in conduit was a NO-NO!
It is where I live
It is. Sheathed cable is already outside rated. It's code for it not to be in a raceway I think. This guy is a fucking handyman lol
Looks like the roof vent pipe flashing is not finish yet.
How much was that job to do? just labor

Did you check the code? You are a contractor it seems to be. Pardon me. I'm an electrical instructor.
@@johntrauger68 i wasnt able to find anything.please enlighten me if you know
@@manresaelectric SEU is underground, this is SER, either are fine in conduit when exposed to physical damage.
What cable size (AWG) is that service entrance ?
4/0 aluminum
Where is your pouch???????
I'm looking to do this. Where did you buy your file from?
It’s channel locks lol
6:48 knockouts. Knocking out 3 holes using needle nose pliers.
😂
OMG WHERE IS HIS SAFETY BELT??
I tend to prefer bending the wire before hand and then set the knockout plastic piece. I just set the wires in the side they will be going in.
Very Good!... #43 ✝ {11-27-2022}
Hi, the weather cap is loose, is it safe for me just add a screw to secure the weather cap. What kind of screw I need?
...wanna DO electrical work and not LOOK like a knuckle dragger! good video
Was just coming to comment this! I always wear my gloves, no need for tiny cuts all the time. Plus keeps your hands clean!
The topmost side of the metal flashing must be under the shingles.
No no no
