Many items were destroyed by the Nazis, but 4.1 million of them survived.
The project is being launched at a time of rising anti-Semitic attacks and vandalism.
It is the culmination of a project sponsored by the New York-based Institute for Jewish Research in conjunction with libraries in Lithuania.

I never lived that time but from reading everything about the Holocaust the life Jews had before was very lively, they were thriving not only in their work life but personal life too before everything was screwed up for them. I see many Holocaust survivors say in interviews that their life as children before the Holocaust was amazing and everything drastically changed for the worst.
My grandfather lived in a squalid degenerate little village in Czechoslovakia, mostly a Yiddish speaking, Jewish town. His youth there was very boring.
