This song was a huge hit for Ashcroft, but there was a dispute as the Rolling Stones ex-manager Allen Klein owned the copyright for a sample used without permission in this song, so after going to court it was agreed the song writing credits should be changed to Jagger-Richards and all royalties should go to them and Klein, it wasn't until 2019 until the song writing credits for the song were returned to Ashcroft and the lost royalties were reimbursed also, so a happy conclusion in the end, you should check out the official video too as it's from the era when videos were hugely important and this one was held in very high regard.
Also, an added little bit of fun, this is who Liam Gallagher of Oasis modelled himself on, but was always jealous of Ashcroft as no matter how much Liam tried to be as cool as Ashcroft, he failed miserably, mainly because of his big mouth and childish temper, whereas Ashcroft was always just effortlessly cool and edgy.
Maybe go outdoors n' make some friends? @@markjones127
@@markjones127 and Oasis song Cast No Shadow was about Ashcroft.
Ladies, I was there that very night. I’ll never forget it
Lucky you
Lucky Man
@@Dani-El. I see what you did there
Love your Southern accents. Nice to have 3 generations enjoying music and each other.
Thanks for listening
One of the greatest songs ever written
Fantastic song full of meaning and while this live version is great the iconic video to this song gives more power to the words. 'The drugs don't work' is another Verve track well worth a listen.
Love to see a channel with genuine down to earth people.
Every time I hear this song I think of the movie Cruel Intentions...this might be why it sounds familiar to you Kathy, because it is on the soundtrack to the movie.
Me too!
Another great VERVE song id LUCKY MAN i t6hink you will enjoy it
Went to watch oasis in Manchester number of years ago and Richard Ashcroft was performing too ,great singer ,another British talent❤,carry on the good work girls, love your channel ❤
Oh Lulu, I grew up in a small Midwestern city but now live in Chicago. Keep being amazed by 'small' new things like busses on the expressway and great customer service. That is what keeps life interesting! Ladies, London in January (don't go in summer- expensive) is not all that expensive relatively. And it is pretty easy. The Brits generally really like Americans. Go! My first visit overseas was at age 30 (28 years ago). And I was sort of scared. And I loved it! I've now been to London 80+ times, have done quite a bit of business there and I have a lot of very good friends in the UK. Keep exploring new things. You all have such a positive outlook that you will revel in any new place you go!
Thanks
Doesn't matter where you're from, nicety and decency are just that all over.
Thanks for sharing lassies, be well, cheers from Scotland 🍻
Thanks for watching!
@KathyLuluandDonna I think it would be rude if I didn't say that your Texan accent is very enjoyable to the ears, Nana especially.
Some say the same about the Scottish accent to me so I felt obliged to tip my hat your way in enjoyment.
Hope you are all well 🍻
You are all welcome to come to UK and Glastonbury anytime!
Maybe one day, that is one of our dreams to visit the UK.
that pineapple you seen is the national flower of scottland it is called a thistle.from the thistle weed. love pirate.
Great live performance, loved it like I love you ladies
Thank you so much!!
"The Drugs Don’t Work" is a really moving song of theirs. Check out the studio release though.
Brilliant live version of a classic song 🇬🇧❤️ Great review and love your energy 😁
Thanks so much!!
RA plus Chris Martin tunes never to be forgotten both of them ❤
One of the best songs ever written! They have plenty of great songs, such as: Lucky Man, Sonnet, The Drugs Don't Work, Space and Time (Live Glastonbury 2008), Love is noise (Live Glastonbury 2008), History, This is Music...
one of uk,s many music festivals , gota love verve
Josh must made such a memorable impression since you think of him that much, it's so cute yet a bit funny..it reminds me of the Amish teenagers every time they leave their community to experience the big cities and all the things that they haven't seen before...
Bittersweet Symphony is one of the best songs ever written. Not my words but many artists like Noel Gallagher of Oasis (who may be the greatest song writer ever) and Chris Martin of Coldplay. Keep up the great reactions.
p.s. you all are the most humble sweet people. If I could send you to Europe I would! Two other great Verve songs “The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Lucky Man”.
I remember these guys! They were active during the 90s when similar bands like Oasis,Blur and Suede were popular in England/UK. To really understand how great of a songwriter Richard Paul Ashcroft (lead vocalist) is,you need to hear: The Verve - The Drugs Don't Work. I know you are aware of James Blunt now and his emotional song writing abilities. Richard from The Verve is another one of those, and i think Richard said himself that he was the most satisfied with how The Drugs Dont Work turned out to be. He is really proud of that song.
BTW,Bittersweet Symphony has samples from a very known 1965 orchestral version of the Rolling Stones song "The Last Time" by the Andrew Oldham Orchestra. So maybe someone in your family has listened to alot of The Rolling Stones, and thats why it sounds familiar to you,Kathy.
It's a farm near Glastonbury, Somerset. Pilton, specifically. I've lived near here for more than 30 years and have worked at Glastonbury Festival for more than 10 years.
My cousin and his wife went to this show. I was so jealous. That song is considered a classic these days. Good choice..
Here are a few suggestions that I hope you will make a reaction video. Thanks😀
Pet Shop Boys - "What Have I've Done To Deserve This?"
Dave Matthews Band - "American Baby"
The Black Crowes - Remedy"
so cool to see you all vibin..
It was the soundtrack for the Reese Witherspoon movie " Cruel Intentions"
I spend a lot of time searching for bands and artists on CZcams. The Verve is one of my favorites. Press like guys it helps the channel.
Thanks
Glastonbury is like Woodstock as a comparison...its on farmland in the UK and is one of the world's major top 3 festivals ❤
I don't know very many of The Verve, BUT I have heard this one! Ya'll started off with a good song from them. Keep up the good work ladies!
Richard Ashcroft is up there with the best of the singer/songwriters
My God, what a voice this dude has, incredible.
I was there. I was a stage manager/compere at Glasto years ago.
You recognise this song from the movie Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
It's England girls,,, The Verve, so cool Britania and as an English man I would love to see Texas.
I absolutely love this song !! So glad you checked it out !!! I would like to recommend you check out the following bands : Blondie , Asia, Emerson , Lake and Palmer , Burning Witches , April Art , Liliac , Beyond the Black , Vision of Atlantis , Frozen Crown ,and Gallery of Gail. Have a wonderful day , Ladies !!
Apart from this now iconic track …they had hits with….Lucky Man…..and……Drugs Don’t Work
I watched richard ashcroft....and...roxy music..in the same week..in manchester...both absolutely fookin awesome..
Love your anecdotes. God, you Texans are similar to us Aussies. Can we somehow detach Texas and move it to Australia lol. Thanks for the reaction. You should react to Sonnet by this group (studio version).
I love you guys. Plz come to the uk
Wish we could maybe one day.
210000 people at Worthy Farm Glastonbury. All you saw is temporary and acts like a city during the festival.
Yes, the M/V for it has a much better sound, if not atmosphere - but I'd also suggest getting "Trainspotting" for a movie night - it's used in it.
NOTE, you WILL need subtitles - and for the young'un there are instances of drug-use, tragedy, and violence - but it's used properly, to tell the story.
Hahaha - I was also born and raised in a small village (like a small township) without traffic lights - until I got older and they needed one on the old bridge into the village because it was changed to one lane.
No horses, but family friends has some on their farm a bit out of the village.
To get an idea of British crowds id recommend the Hyde Park London Concert 65, 000 people waiting for Greenday to come on Stage and they put a Queen Song on .The Whole Crowd sang the Song word for Word .with harmony. Its definitely worth a look .
Josh is a hero. 😉
Have you guys done Talk Talk - Its My Life…..yet?…….if not the live version from Montreux is a banger……another good one…..Simple Minds - Waterfront (live)
This is one of the greatest videos I’ve ever seen.
Look at Glastonbury it's wonderful last 3 days ..
The elder ladie know what she is talking about.
Hi ladies, another great reaction. Glastonbury is the biggest annual pop festival in UK, and attracts a huge audience (up to 300,000 people) and a wide range of international stars. There are several stages in different parts of the venue. It is also worth seeing the official video released with this song. The Verve are one of the best British rock groups of their time, and have performed three times at Glastonbury, in 1993, 2008 and 2021, I believe. It's also worth you reacting to The Verve's "The Drugs Don't Work" (38 million views): czcams.com/video/ToQ0n3itoII/video.html
Amazing band. The bass player gifted Ren a guitar after hearing his music:)
A one horse town, and the horse has bolted ! 😂
Nick McCabe um dos melhores guitarristas de todos os tempos.
This is a great live version but gotta watch the official video
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, that's life
Tryna make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
Facts
Trying not to raise your hopes but I thought I saw JOSH in the audience 🤣🤣 …………great reaction to a iconic tune over here in the UK , keep up the great reactions ladies 👍
Would love you to react to Muse (always live performances though).
Love your channel.
Thanks
Good luck getting tickets for Glastonbury! Deepest Somerset btw on a farm.
If you didn't know the song you'd have been better starting with the studio version. There's a very good video that goes along with it. However, I enjoyed your reaction. Lulu always makes me smile when she likes a song.
I really wish you guys would start reacting to the official music videos instead of always and always going to live performances.
Glastonbury and The Verve classic English concert 👍
On your musical journey, might I make some suggestions? How about RUSH 'Working Man' Live in Cleveland.
i would swap your town in Texas for city in Belfast right now . Your place sounds like my heaven lol
Oooh, have you heard Ren's version of the song yet? Different lyrics. Very cool.
Hi Girls, I Hope You Would To Reach "I'll Never Love Again, Cover By. Putri Ariani.
Love your reactions. Please react to oasis slide away live at knebworth the first night(Saturday).
The video for this is so cool!!! Why not that???
Thats great😀👍
Thanks 👍
Should have done the video in this case....
Great video 😊
Thanks for watching
If u guys want to see a big venue, watch Metallica “enter sandman” from Moscow. About 1.5 million people after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Video was iconic, you should that and then Ren's retake.
Agree!
Fade in/Fade out Nothing More. Thanks
Please react to HIM - "Join me in death" or "wings of a butterfly", thank you
Another great number done at Glastonbury most reactors skip and go for the official video of is R E M's everybody hurts you may want to keep the tissues close by for that one too great reaction ❤'
You need to listen to STEREOPHONICS....... Best British band, been releasing music since 96'.
Similar vibe to The Verve (on some stuff not all).
Glastonbury know for Wellington Boots , Muddy field , not so nice Toilets 🚽 : Politicians trying to look cool ,: On the brighter side world class music , atmosphere intoxicating
6:20 - *It's definitely not all flat, and there are pretty parts of Texas. Where are y'all? Y'all need to come check out the Hill Country. It sounds like Lulu is a real country bumpkin. Y'all should check out "Music Is Power", by Richard Ashcroft, the singer of The Verve.*
We're way up North, not as pretty as the Hill Country.
@@KathyLuluandDonna,
I heard y'all mention a town or area (I guess) that y'all are down the road from. I'm guessing that y'all are north, or maybe south of Dallas.
You guys rock🤘Texas is the greatest state of the US🇺🇸
Check out one horse town by Blackberry smoke
Listen to The Who.
The Who Won't get fooled again
Try Ren's version .
Beastie boys
Can you please do some Tina s a mind blowing guitarist at the age of 15
How do we make requests?
You can request here, and we will put it on our list. If you want a priority request you can do that thru bye me a coffee link in the description in any video.
@@KathyLuluandDonna oh thank you.😎👍
@@KathyLuluandDonna oh thank you.😎👍
The video for this is really weird so it was great to watch a live version of this. Glastonbury is probably Britain's number one festival although Reading, Knebworth and the Isle of Wight are close behind and to be honest I don't know if the last two are still functioning, I'm sure someone will know. I love Donna's accent all she needs is a stetson and a horse. 🇬🇧
You guys need to start checking out some Oasis.
The band tool , we have an army and a cult.
take a look at "Rens" version of this
It's awful 😂
Please react to Liam Gallagher singing -Roll It Over (live at Knebworth) ✌️🏴
They never got paid for this song. Because they stole the music from stone roses,
🤦🏻♂️ not quite
Yeah, pretty cheap behaviour from a band who were very open about being derivative,at least in the early years.
Just found you beauties. Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
