Spicy kitten socialization: Loko learns to love

- Due to resource constraints, it’s common to return kittens who are older than 12 weeks back outside, if they cannot be quickly socialized.
This is the story of how one spicy kitten learned to love. With lots of patience from foster volunteers and a little help from Uncle Garfield, Loko and each of his siblings are all living the good life now in their own forever homes.
But there are still so many spicy kittens out there who still need help. These scared little ones have a special place in our heart, because we know there’s a better world waiting for them.
They can’t see it yet - but you can. Make a donation today to help so many more cats like Loko: www.flatbushcats.org/build
It feels so good to be a monthly donor, knowing that I can contribute to all the hard work Flatbush Cats is doing. Best wishes from Denmark! ❤️ 🇩🇰
❤🐈
Ville ønske jeg havde pengene til at gøre hvad du gør. Tak.
I'm a monthly donor too and I feel the same❤🐾🐾
Me too. Flatbush is my favorite cat rescue channel.
I wish I could donate..... I wish someone could give me a job so I could donate 😻
Loko: *hisses*
Flatbush cats: Brushie brushie be upon ye!
Hahaha, get loved loser
😂❤
"Maybe he missed his mom..." aaaand I'm crying. I've donated this month, and will continue to do so. Thank you for valuing these cats with your actions. ❤
❤🐈
I was crying too.

Maybe he saw the old geezer and thought "well, I guess at least they're not trying to eat us"
I contributed $1000 and set up a match from my employer, The Home Depot. I hope you've gotten the form and completed it; please let me know if you haven't gotten it. Thank you so much for turning so many lives around, Lynn
I bet that money will go a long way towards making happier healthier kitties!
That moment of Uncle Garfield grooming the spicy baby, with the human sneaking in a petting hand from the other side to get him used to people... so precious
I actually prefer fostering unsocialised cats... I'm not a very active person and quiet and I always feel a sort of... connection to that shyness that they feel, being very anxious when it comes to socialising myself... but cats are amazing creatures and I would die for them /srs
All of the unsocalised kitties I've fostered ended up becoming such lovely cats and once they felt comfortable, they were so loving and cuddly.
It's never amazes me how much much they change just from having a personal foster parent and a quiet place to chill and relax. Even just letting them hide and come out on there own was so beneficial to them.
My favourite kitty was my first foster... Oliver. He stayed a little timid and shy from all the time I was caring for him. He'd come on my bed and lay next to my legs..... but on the last night that I had him... he came up and curled up by my neck. It makes me cry just thinking about it.. I loved him a lot. and I constantly miss him. The regret I feel from him not being a foster fail feels like a stab in the heart, honestly.
He grew up to be such a beautiful cat... very long and beautiful orange fur.
I am technically allergic to cats so one with such long hair would kill me.. but... as I said earlier. I would die for cats. and I would more than willingly suffer if it meant keeping Oliver.
I'll never forget him... my son...
Garfield out here teaching those important lessons; how to play, groom, biscuit making. A++ Garfield. I'm excited for the changes the new clinic will bring and what kind of standard it can set for other cities. Thank you for your hard work 💙
How to Cat 101
Ah yes! Setting new standards IS THE KEY.
Uncle Garfield is wonderful, I'm so glad Loko and family have a happy life ahead of them
Oh Loko😢 ❤❤❤ his instant outpouring of love for adult cats was heartbreaking. He really did miss his mom. But I'm glad Uncle Garfield was there. ❤❤❤
"As pet-parents, it's our job to make them feel loved and protected, just like their mom." Is such a resounding truth 💗 I think it's a beautiful thing to be able to bond and care for animals, it's one of the things I feel very grateful to do as a human
I endorse and support, both emotionally and financially, your affordable clinic. I think it’s important for others to realize as well, that the more successful you are with this clinic, the greater the price pressure on other clinics to also come down to a more affordable and accessible option. your success will benefit not just your clinic, but the other clinics in surrounding areas who will need to compete.
Yes! I'm a donor from Denmark, and my hope is that the success of Flatbush Cats will spread to other cities, states and even countries. Their work is priceless! ❤️
This is true, the inflation is making it hard for many pet guardians. I can't give each month but I will today!
Thanks!
I'm a monthly donor, too. I'm elderly, on a fixed income & so wish I could give more. ❤
Great work, all!
Eating breakfast, foster kittens climbing all over me, watching video about foster kittens. This is the life. ❤
Sounds totally pawsome ❤
I love knowing my donation every month helps all these fur babies. ❤❤❤ thank you so much
Thanks! Because of the bonded pair short ❤
my cat Dimitri takes a similar role to Garfield. He teaches new kittens how to groom, where the good nap spots are, and how to play with the good toys. He has helped dozens of kittens learn how to cat, and each time a cat becomes an “apprentice” they get a new name starting with D. So far the list of graduates from Dimitri’s program include
Dexter
Damian
Dorian
DeeDee
Delilah
Daphne
Dominic
Dexi
Domino
Dasher
Dancer
Donder(winter kittens of course)
Sending you and Dimitri a great big
Fun fact: Dimitri is the masculine version of Demeter, the Greek mother Goddess. So, IMO, Dimitri is a perfect name for a male cat showing kittens the basics of being a cat. 😁
@@a.katherinesuetterlin3028 so cool -- glad you shared that!
Dmitri is such a good kitten papa. Bless him and you!
I love that
I find it quite challenging as I hold a profound affection for cats and invest significant efforts into rescuing them. However, regrettably, the videos I share on CZcams haven't been receiving substantial attention despite my consistent efforts since 2018.

Please how to find your channel?
Loko is absolutely in love with Uncle Garfield ❤
Go Flatbush! 🖤
I hope you're able to post a video with more about rescues like Aria, the blind kitten. Disabled cats can be the most rewarding animals to share a home with, and cats are remarkably adaptable.
she has her own video! czcams.com/video/ocb34wOG0NE/video.html
i rescued a 14 week feral. i'm so glad i gave it a shot. sometimes the challenging ones end up being the most special.
He was just a scared baby who wanted an adult cat
And now he feels that way about humans❤❤
Thank you so much
Going on about five years now, I have been an occasional watcher of the Tiny Kittens HQ channel, who are a cat rescue in the Vancouver area. Early on when I started watching, they had a resident cat living in their base because he was an old cat with health problems. Grandpa Mason was a feral old guy, kidney problems and very few teeth. He was the resident kitten babysitter after one time a litter of orphans were put in his room and they immediately climbed into his cat bed with him and he was calm and welcoming. After that, he would be introduced to kittens whose mothers were in maternity (kittens were usually 6-8 weeks when introduced to Mason), and one kitten with her own health issue, Aura, was one of his kids and stayed a permanent resident due to her cleft palette needing treatment and her becoming besties with TK's "Miracle Kitten", Cassidy (who is very selective on who he likes).
Mason eventually crossed the bridge, so the resident babysitter role now belongs to Aura, who is a respectable 5-yr-old lady these days.
I tell this take because the idea of older cats being babysitters for kittens is one I have encountered before, online, and I also think a feral being able to see a tame cat being treated well by humans helps them calm down.
Yes, as soon as I saw Uncle Garfield, I immediately thought of Grandpa Mason and had the most beautiful memories of how he took care of all of the kittens at Tiny Kittens HQ. I'm so grateful he was able to live out the rest of his years in comfort and happiness with his grandchildren. Teaching and helping them to get ready to meet the world. We all love and miss Grandpa Mason so much.🙏💖😽🍀🌈🌉
Both of your stories about Grandpa Mason moved my heart. Thank you for sharing them and for all the love you feel and send into this sometimes difficult world.
@@jessieadair How very kind and thoughtful you are. Thank you for your lovely comment. Your endearing words truly lifted my spirits today which is something I genuinely needed. Because as you stated, this world can unfortunately, be sometimes difficult. Thank you for your post.😺🙏💞🍀

Becoming a monthly donor (and extra as needed) w/you folks is one of the best things I've ever done. I'm so glad your group exists and is doing this work!
Boy, that Garfield is a great cat. Very helpful.
I'm still so angry at my local shelter. I fostered for them for over 10 years, and a year ago they stopped calling.
They decided all fosterers had to have a car (I don't, because I live in an urban area, with decent public transportation). Didn't even have the decency to call and let me know. I had to read about it on the website.
This reminds me of my little one I adopted last year. I adopted her from a rescue org but was she really wasn't socialized yet (The adopters obviously told me this and recommended I pick someone different) but I loved her and took her anyways. I had experience watching Flatbrush's videos and other videos on socializing and she wasn't spicy, just very scared. I spent time with her in her private room one on one with her for several days. She was getting better but very little progress was being made. That was until my 2nd cat came into the room. I had the window open and she just wanted to look out of it and walked into the room completely ignoring the kitten. I was lying near the kitten on the floor and suddenly she got up and walked past me (she never got up when I was in the room) and B-lined it straight for my other cat. They immediately started sniffing each other all over for about 5 minutes. Just that single interaction turned her into a different cat. The next day she was letting me pet her, purring and was rolling over on her back to show me her belly. It's almost like she was waiting for confirmation of some sort. She's about 2 years old now and is pretty much attached at the hip to me at all times.
ur cat was like 'nah man dont be scared this humans cool' lol! im glad she's doing better now :]
Your kitty told the kitten" You're safe and loved. We own this soft hearted human"
This is all I can offer. Thank you for everything. I love your videos!!!
Sounds great to have your own clinic.
This way the focus is on the needy animals, not providing the greedy hoomanz a second house, a boat, extra cars and sixteen vacations a year...
Priorities ..
How wonderful to have Garfield as a foster uncle. He does a fantastic job. Heartwarming.
I love fostering these little spicy babies. It is such a blessing to see them warm up to you. Then send them off to their forever homes.❤
If everybody donated a dollar, you wouldn't even miss it. But FCs would do amazing things.
The adopters are wonderful. The man who wanted a third cat...bless him.
2:52 that is so pure
Please make a Tshirt and a hoodie using the art work in this video. The yellow background with black kitties would, I think,be a big hit.
Thanks for everything you do for our masters.
Man u r the best ❤❤❤❤If I had money I would give it all to FBC..... ur work is PHENOMENAL....I damn near cried again watching this factual, emotional piece ofnwhatvisbreally going on in the streets.. .I LOOK FORWARD TO ALL U DO FOR US....THANK U ❤❤❤❤
I watch the ads instead, then like and comment to help with the CZcams algorithm - it all helps and you have too!
“We named her Aria.”
I don’t know if you meant it on purpose, but I see what you did there!
(Aria is a type of code that helps make websites screen reader accessible for blind people.)
3awww(I
Thanks for the info about Aria, which I hadn't known about.
aww...proof that cats are social people! 😍😍😂😂
The stinkeye crew was the one litter that I grew attached so much, especially Loko and Buster ❤️ I'm way less implicated now, it got hard to see all the loses but I can't wait to have the financial and mental stability to go back to helping! ❤️
Thanks for everything you do for these spicy little kittens.
I really hope the services expand so that all cats and kittens can get the help they need.
Also need a database of vets that haven't gone corporate exploitation in costs. Too many want hundreds of dollars for basic things & multiple thousands if anything extra needs doing.
This makes my heart so happy, our first foster this year was a boy named Loko and he looks exactly like this Loko!
Garfield is so pretty & he and Loko look so cute together.
Thank you for rescuing the kitties and the blind kitten as well.
Glad to see Mani doing well!
I love cats more than any other creature on the planet.
these videos inspired me to help cats. and i currently have 4 inside cats that were all once feral and i rescued and i have 2 more kittens in my bathroom im fostering.
Bless you little Loko, and thanks to Garfield, Will and your crew!🙏🙏🙏💝💝💝🐾🐾🐾
Any time I play a video with kittens meowing or crying, my cat Tommy runs over and looks very concerned. Once I live somewhere where I can have more than one cat, I want to start fostering and I’m pretty sure Tommy will become a great foster uncle, just like Garfield. ❤
My automatic monthly donations help me to feel like a small yet integral part of all of the hard work, diligence, patience and love provided by everyone connected to Flatbush Cats. *Thank you for all that you do* !
If more people can actually take part in the care of these cats also, it will be even much help, peace ❤
Thank you for always bringing light to the root causes of “kitten season”. My favorite class conscious rescue
I love that point where they still don't like you but will tolerate petting. They've always got an expression like "This feels good and I'm gonna let you continue, but I'm not happy about it"
I just love what you are doing. What an incredible difference you are making! Thank you!
Sometimes I forget that our cat, Wyatt, was a feral stray. This video reminded me of when we first got him. I don't know what miracle allowed it to happen, but a year or so after we got him, we found out he was blind. You'd never know unless you quietly extend a finger toward him, full light of day, and touch his nose. He gets a total surprise from it, and that's how the Vet determined he was blind. Anyway, he adjusted so well that I forgot how he was when we got him -- so much like the little fellows in this video. What a gift cats are to humans. They really don't ask for much, and the love and comic-relief they give back are priceless.
Oh my God, I love to rematch Aria's video, so nice to know she has a little brother now as well ❤
This video is a great reminder to make a donation tomorrow! My work has a program that does donation matching ❤ I've been a donor in the past as well & I'm always happy to help y'all out.
love this guys work!
I have a big young male who fills the role of protecting and grooming abandoned cats, both adult or kitten. He is also a great hunter and seeking human contact. Compared to the other cats, he is the most socialized cat I have.
Impressive.
Garfield got the best sideburns in the business :)
The irony of a cat named Garfield socializing a kitten. This one seems like a sweetheart tho
This is why I am a monthly donor. I'm so grateful for all you do!
Don't we all miss our mother's love and gentle affection.... I know I miss mine, been a long time since I've had that. I love cats they're great companions.
Thank you for what you do. Almost anyone can afford $5-$10/mo and it makes such a huge difference.
Love the shoebox scene. And I remember both Aria and Guapo & I'm glad for all three of these cats that A&G's dads gave Lolo a home, too.
I love that we all just agreed to at "spicy" is the best way to describe these kitties 😂
Amazing work you do! Donate donate donate!
We were quoted $800 by a Brooklyn vet to get our rescue neutered just as covid restrictions were lightening... they initially said he was neutered. We borrowed a friend's car and drove a couple hours to a wonderful facility in Long Island ($75). They put our lil guy under for the procedure then called to say he was actually neutered... Insane!
Making this more affordable will find more homes for strays.
Keep up the great work.
It’s so good to see not only Loko figure out how good VIP life is, but to get the update that Aria and Guapo are doing well and have a new buddy in Loko!
Thank you for looking after all the cats 😻😻😻😻😻😻Thank you for looking after all the cats 😻😻😻😻😻😻💖💖💖💖
Sometimes, the person best suited to teach a cat is another cat. ❤
You're doing such amazing work. Thank you! I cannot foster any more and I know how important foster families are. My own cat gets extremely stressed and aggressive when I have fosters in the house. 😥
Love and respect from Australia. The way you explain a difficult subject is excellent and compassionate. Compassionate to the cats and the humans - across the world. It is not easy making change and understanding how a little financial help can make a dent in a huge problem.
As soon as I have something extra - I will once again send something on. Thank you for what you do. And thanks for the note - very nice personal touch.
This makes me feel warm and safe 🥹 I’ll do what I can to help the fur angels in my neighborhood and elsewhere. You all are greatly appreciated.
I just can't resist a gray cat.
They're freaking adorable.
Uncle Garfield to the rescue! 🥰
omg, when he gets in the shoebox with him. 💗
Thank you for everything you do for the kitties. I've been a supporter for years.
These people are some of the best. They see real solutions to the over population of felines. They have the patience to see the real potential of the ferals and those that can b brought in from the cold.
Cats need LOVE, Food, Patience and MORE LOVE .❤
Couldn't watch all the way through; but very sweet. They have such different personalities. Maybe Garfield reminded him of another adult cat that was a friend from his feral days.
Lovely
I love that I can be a part of this effort! And that you guys are making this happen!
The most important thing is to elect people who change things on a larger scale. Stray animals aren't a normal thing everywhere, they become normal when people let it happen. It can be changed.
Thank you for everything you do ❤️
Loko looks so much like my very spicy kitty. She has grown up to be a sweetheart of course.
3:05 What's better than a cat that doesn't quite fit in a cardboard box? Yup. Two cats.
This is so sweet, oh my god. Watching Loko's journey take such an abrupt turn was so heartwarming.
Im not big on cats but this video was awesome and very informative about cat behavior. Im happy there are devoted individuals to help these strays.
I just love Garfield's mutton chops, his cheeks are so fluffy as to make other male cats feel inadequate, lol.
This video really got me in the feels. Thank you for all the work you guys do. I'm sure all the cats you've worked with would say "thank you" if they could talk. ❤
you do sth incredible and important. you rock, guys
I wish I had the money to donate, because I would. Although I respect and appreciate everything rescuers do for cats/kittens and even other animals, getting to the root of overpopulation (lack of access to spay/neuter) is largely overlooked or underfunded. I appreciate what you guys are doing so much with your spay/neuter clinic. 💜
Kochane Koteczki. Niektóre były nieśmiałe, wycofane, trzeba było Je ośmielić. Wspaniale że są ludzie którym leży na sercu dobro i szczęście Zwierząt. Dużo zdrowia dla Was Wszystkich. Mocno przytulam wszystkie Zwierzątka.❤❤❤🐈🥰🥰🥰
Thanks to your videos I am now considering to be a rescue volunteer in my city too. Your videos give a realistic view of the situation and even some guidance. Thanks a lot.
As a lifetime foster and rescuer that is going through that socialization process (with two ADULT cats,no less,we are on month 3) i know too well the importance of a low cost/free vet clinic and the lack of foster homes..
I hope your fantastic videos can inspire someone out there to donate their time or money to help this cause..❤❤❤❤
Garfield is spectacular.🧡
I took in a kitten that turned out to be pregnant. I also took in her husband and they are a bonded pair ! It is so sweet to watch ! Mom gave birth in my closet lol, I have never had an animal, that was not fixed before, so it was an experience ! You are correct, these kittens are so confident, dad lays on the floor and let's them crawl over him and he plays very gently with them. Mom is a sweetie too. They have no stressors so they are so gentle, they even play without their claws out . Mom and dad are both fixed now. But I don't know if I can adopt the kittens out because I've fallen in love with the whole family ! ❤ Thanks for all you do. 😍
i wish i had an older brother like the cat Garfield from this video
You guys are the best!
I'm happy to see that Loko got a great home
