- Beim Einschalten funktionierte das Gerät nicht richtig. Es kam kein Ton. Ein Factory Reset konnte es wieder zum Leben erwecken. Außer einer gründlichen Reinigung und dem Austausch der LCD Anzeige und der Speicherbatterie musste hier nichts weiter gemacht werden.
Im Jahr 1988 war der Yamaha RX 7 eines der besten Musikbegleitungssysteme auf dem Markt. Dieses mikrocomputer gesteuerte Wunderwerk ist weit mehr als eine bloße Drum-Maschine mit der man komplexe und überzeugende Begleitarrangements erstellen kann die nicht nur aus Percussion-Sounds, sondern auch aus superrealistischen Bässen Gitarren und Blechbläsern bestehen. 100 digital aufgenommene Stimmen stehen zur Auswahl. Die Hardware mit ihrem Stahlgehäuse und der Ober seite aus stabilem Plastik ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben und super solide. Der RX 7 gehört zu den unterschätzten Drum Computern der achtziger Jahre. Er war in den 90ern nie so angesagt wie die Geräte aus der Roland TR- Serie und kann daher zu moderaten Gebrauchtpreisen erstanden werden.
The device did not work correctly when switched on. There was no sound. A factory reset was able to bring it back to life. Apart from a thorough cleaning and replacing the LCD display and the storage battery, nothing else had to be done here.

The RX 7 is one of the underestimated drum machines of the eighties. It was never as popular as the devices from the Roland TR series in the 90s and can therefore be purchased at moderate second-hand prices.

at 6:35 you mention that the firmware doesn't have to be updated cause it's running version 1.3 already. I just got an RX-7 still running firmware version 1.2. Do you have any information on how to update the firmware? Is it possible to update it via MIDI or is a chip replacement necessary? I didn't find any information on that so I hope you can help. Bei 6:35 erwähnst du, dass die Firmware kein Update braucht, weil Version 1.3 ohnehin schon läuft. Ich habe kürzlich einen RX-7 bekommen, der noch auf Firmware Version 1.2 läuft. Hast du irgendwelche Infos dazu, wie man die Firmware aktualisiert? Kann man das per MIDI machen, oder ist ein Chip-Austausch erforderlich? Ich habe dazu keinerlei Infos gefunden und hoffe du kannst helfen. Danke und beste Grüße

I don't understand German but I understood the repair. You used a drill when you installed the battery box, what size drill should I use?
Hello, the original mounting holes from the old battery are still there. You just take a drill that is exactly the size of the holes.
Wissen sie wo man noch ersatzteile vom rx7 bekommt wie federn oder fader usw.
Allgemein schwierig. Bei Synthaur (syntaur.com/keyboard.php?keyboard=Yamaha_RX11) gibt es einiges für die RX Modelle. Bin aber nicht informiert, ob die noch nach Deutschland verschicken.

The brightness of the display is a matter of video recording. In reality, the LCD display is optimally illuminated and clearly visible.
In this video the display is extremely bright. But that's because of the video recording. In reality it is a nice blue color and very legible. So it's a matter of the camera setting. I am working on it.

Just swap it with an OLED panel, those are much nicer. Or if you go LCD, grab a white on black VA panel.
