for the amount of love and dedication you put in this tank, id upgrade to like a 30 or 40 gallon cube and put all these accessories on that tank. Very good video, happy holidays!
Dam all that equipment I’m getting the same results with just a hang on back filter and weekly water changes lol
Same lol I have a waterbox 25 and I do 5 gallon weekly water changes with more corals and demand. Only think I have on my tank is a skimmer and ATO
Mad respect. I think this is one of those things where trying out new technology is fun for us but totally agree water changes are the 🗝️
You guys are awesome. Keep doing what you do. A lot of real reefers will catch on to this. Thank you
Appreciate that! Will keep uploading as long as people keep liking and commenting!
I appreciate the video! As a guy who likes nano tanks, this was very insightful. I am old school and manual everything besides ATO. I also don't have anything under 20 gallons but nothing over 30 so I kinda have my science down. Just picked up a IM Nuvo 25 Pro 2 and am really considering jumping into 2024 and this video was a breath of fresh air. Thanks and beautiful tank.
This was really helpful, thanks guys
Glad it was helpful!
This is crazy spending dude.........
I don't want to sound too negative but the overkill on equipment makes it look messy.
Plus too much equipment can cause more issues than simple reefing......more things can go wrong.
I hope you upgrade one day to really get the use out of all the gear....your interest deserves a larger tank 😎
I have a waterbox 25 and all I have is a skimmer and do 5 gallon weekly water changes. I have almost double the corals you have. I think the equipment is overkill for the evo but I am glad you are enjoying the hobby 😌
Yeah it's definitely my inner gear head's extravagance
Most of the equipment for the nano tank is overkill and expensive. Most people would not spend more $1000 on equipment. The only thing is the equipment can be use for 65gallon or more.
This is very true.
I have a 5 gallon cookie jar tank with a heater, light and two air bubblers. Corals look great in there. I just do 90-100% water changes. Simplicity is best
i would recommend some cheap check valves for tubing. there's also small glass gooseneck tube connectors that are great for hiding your dosing tubes. they sit kinda low but with a check valve you never worry about siphon effects. as your stony corals grow, they will definitely consume your alk like crazy so don't give up on the kalk idea ;) your equipment choices were totally on point, did things the hard way for way too long (less automation) and I don't know if you can ever have too much automation tbh.
Thx for the suggestion on the check valves we are using one for the ATO but not the dosing tubes. Also have noticed alk levels are indeed starting to drop so agree the kalk may come in handy!
That is a Vermetid snail on your coral spewing that slime. Bumble Bee Snails will take care of them. They will multiply and take over. I've had a few in my tank and reached in to move a coral and been punctured my finger. Kinda painful.
Im all for overkill, and theres some lovely gadgets here that id love to try and afford in the UK but all this gear is the price of a car when the tank itself is closer to the price of a tyre. Fair play tho
My biggest regret was buying a flame scallop. I wanted a challenge as my reef tank had been stable for half a year, so I did a huge amount of research on the flame scallop. When I was ready, I went to my local aquarium store and bought the healthiest looking flame scallop. I drip acclimated the scallop and after a few hours put him in, minutes later he opened up and was super pretty! I even gave him some food. He then moved himself on a bare rock I had.
Then I wake up the next morning…
And he was dead. I was extremely confused, as he had been completely healthy and happy the day before!
I called the place I got him from, and unfortunately I couldn’t get a refund or anything.
So yeah, maybe I’ll try again another day but I’m hesitant.
3000$ equipments and 200$ in corals and fish , great job....
Yeah it's definitely a gear head tank 😀
There is only one solution now: Get a larger tank so you can extract max value out of your top end equipment!
Yes need to negotiate that with the boss of the house :-)
@@PlanetHorgen😂 thats the real challenge lol
What size tank/gallon capacity? I think we have the similar one but I've struggled with SPS.
The tank is 13.5 and we also have a bucket refugium which is about 4.7 gallons
I couldnt stand the ai prime disco ball effect and got rid of it.
So I'm like halfway through the video and I don't remember hearing verbalized "regrets" on a video titled "5 things we regret..."
The biggest was the MP10, too much money. Also still trying to dial in kalk dosing.
I wouldnt add more fish. Tank is looking great and you dont want to add a new fish that causes drama. I figure your next issue will be the bubble algea.
Are you close to NYC? Can i build you a new cabinet stand?
San Francisco Bay Area but thx for the offer!
Who makes the tank?
i’m pretty sure this is a fluval evo 13.5
Correct fluval Evo 13.5
Yah you definitely don't need all the bell and whistles with a nano tank. I have a 65g and I have half the stuff
Yep it's definitely a tech gear head's nano
This dude kitted out his nano tank like he owned a 600-800 litre tank.
Why? I still don't know
You in Cali?
Near SF!
@@PlanetHorgen that's right. I'm in San Jose
All that money and you got wires, a bulky powerhead and a home depot bucket fuge.... come on man.
All the expense for a nano? I can do all your doing with a simple weekly water change. Also, ya might want to move those power strips off the floor and away from all that water and practice some better cable management.
This is true.
For all the money your investing in such a nano tank . Just upgrade to a bigger tank . Maybe a 32 gallon by fluvel , or even a 40 gallon standard tank . Drill it for sump.. youd be better off . Your wasting so much money on such a small tnak
Yes I need to get my boss at home to agree to giving me some more real estate in the house.
Why would u buy a neptune for this tiny tank lol you put 300$ in there and it's full your neptune costs a fortune lol if it crashes just rebuild
