    As soon as you said, if you can't make the power of this car work for you, you shouldn't be driving, I knew I needed to subscribe. That is such a true statement. Cars are way too overpowered these days for how people actually drive. Everyday I am behind 300+ horsepower cars merging onto the highway at 45MPH. They could do that with 100 horsepower.

    • @pattran3030
      @pattran3030 Před 11 měsíci +2

      That is a valid point. Twenty years ago I had own the Chevy Optra 5 which came with 119 hp and had no problems with it. I am by no mean a led footed driver and uses a car as a mode of transportation from A to B and 137 hp is more then adequate.

    Excellent review Alex! You reviewed it for what it is. A low to mid $20's crossover.
    I liked it so much I bought two. An ACTIV for my daughter and a 2RS for me and my last car was a loaded 23 Audi S3. I just couldn't come to terms with spending that much money on a vehicle and I got two of these for under the sticker on my S3.
    The Trax is unbelievably smooth, quiet, solid, loaded with features and handles great.
    If I decide I want more power I'll get it tuned. 😂 I am shocked at what you get for the money and dealers are selling them before they get delivered. My two came off the dealers first truck.
    I looked up the Conti's on Tire Rack and they are $250 each.

      You have to move up to the Active model for the power driver's seat but then you get that horrible interior accent color. I prefer the red accents of the 2RS.

      @@musicmaestrodjI have a black activ with the bronze color around the air vents.
      Personally I think it's the best looking color of all, not too bright.
      I agree on the yellow color, don't care for that much!
      In my opinion the red trim is okay, but still quite bright.
      If I can't have black trim on the vents, I'll take the bronze color that's available on the activ over any color!

    I have this Trax 2RS and i love it what i did for the arm rest i got computer chair pads that took care of the issue as for the power after the break-in period the car changed it is fast so many people or reviewers talk down about this car like it should have AWD the plastics and how will the 3 cylinder hold up. This is a new model as a consumer do your home work test drive the car no car is perfect if you don't like it don't buy it it is just that simple. thank you for this great non bias review.

    Finally, someone reviewing a car who sounds like an actual knowledgable driver with a passion for cars and driving. Your comments on its power and drivability are spot on and the most accurate on CZcams, well done. I drove a 1RS for an afternoon in the city and on the freeway and thought it was great! It is very peppy for a 1.2L turbo and it handles nicely too. The six-speed auto is very smooth, better for around town than a dual-clutch tranny. I am a car guy, having restored multiple cars over the years and have had my 1982 Lancia Zagato with collector car plates for over a decade now. I wish it had a push-button start because that is what my wife wants and think a Trax would be a nice change for her. It has a great stance too, nice and high so no worries about scraping the front end on a high cement curb when parking. The four-speaker stereo is "okay" but I wish it was better. My wife's current car is a 2011 VW Golf TDI and it has an amazing stereo with 8 speakers. It does NOT have the Dynaudio upgrade but still sounds amazing and miles better than the Trax. I know the 2RS has a six-speaker system but I'm not sure if it sounds any better because I have not heard it. Don't misunderstand, the 4 speaker system in the 1RS is fine, just nothing special. I work part-time as a recording studio engineer and producer so I often listen to songs that I am in the middle of mixing while I am in my car which is why it is important to me. My wife would think it sounds just fine. As for the old-style tach and speedo, I like it! I think it is very RS in nature 😎 much more so than a digital dash. The IRS I drove also had the Driver Confidence package and the sunroof option making it one nice ride! Loved the red accents inside and out as well, very sporty looking. I am pretty sure I'll be getting one. I just have to convince myself that the decrease in power and fuel economy over the TDI will be worth it. All my wife wants is a new car, lol. Oh and I think it looks great too! 😀

    Nice to see the platform as a FWD only to eliminate the AWD driveshaft tunnel and rear differential spacing. This allows for a spare tire & flat floor and lowers the center of gravity without having voids of space when choosing FWD on an AWD designed platform. Even in snow, AWD is not needed with FWD and good all season tires on plowed and maintained roads. Good review !

    I hot the wife the 2rs as loaded as could. I wouldnt say its a notch below the active theres a couple small trade offs. The 2rs has to me a better interior and bigger wheels somewhat sportier, vs a power seat. My wifes a foot shorter so the constant adjusting weve had a couple go out. Plus active has yellow trim vs red in 2rs. The 2rs loaded with the sunroof is a steal at pricepoint

    Honestly the main concern for a majority is the long term reliability of a 3 cylinder engine in a heavy SUV. In a small car I can understand...but that engine is working extra hard and even making it to 100k miles is a concern. It hasn't yet been fully proven to be reliable and for many that is a bit risky. I have to say the new design is really a huge improvement from the previous version.

    • @skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy90
      @skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy90 Před rokem

      Trailblazer, encore, and trax all have the 3 cylinder engine. No issues with the two and it will continue to perform well in the Trax. If the engine was struggling to perform, it wouldn’t easily get north of 30mpg

    • @davidroehr1672
      @davidroehr1672 Před rokem +2

      @skylirkosiorek my girlfriend bought a new Trailblazer and the engine went out on her a little over 15k miles on a busy highway. Luckily a police cruiser was close by behind her or she could have easily been killed by someone plowing into her. It unfortunately has left her afraid to ever drive again. The mechanics at the Chevy dealer after having it towed back to them admitted that there have been issued with the 3 cylinder engines. Obviously some will not have an issue when buying these vehicles but after the ordeal my girlfriend had I am hesitant to buy one with a 3 cylinder engine in it.

    Excellent review Alex! As you found out and I already suspected, the Trax is a replacement for the discontinued Cruze as it shares a lot of dimensional similarities while also offering a solid option to Sonic and Spark buyers in the subcompact price field. I dont know why GM deliberately goes out of their way to cheapen out on door trim materials. The new Colorado also suffer from hard plastics where people have to rest their elbows, GM need to use updated padded vinyl as soft touch materials for center arm rests and door trims. Over all the Trax is a awesome entry level crossover for the Chevrolet brand and should do very well in its segment.

    • @NorIsFlop
      @NorIsFlop Před rokem +1
