- For the past month I've been using a new type of thread and contact cement. Both were purchased from amazon.com and I think you all will like them as well.

I missed this video when you first posted but as a leather hobbyist I really appreciate all of the advice you give. Free tips from someone with your skill level are invaluable.
Oh, and I have a possible tip for folks, as well. Some time back I watched your ring belt video and got inspired. I actually found brass rings at Tractor Supply in the chain and wire rope section. Also, some Tractor Supply locations have a very few leather working materials - such as Chicago screws, small buckles and so on - in their tack section. As someone who doesn't buy in large enough volume to get discounts at Tandy I always like to find other sources that are both more convenient and less expensive.
Tiger thread is all I use. I use it with a size 0 harness needle. It is by far the best combination I have found. I buy it on the 500 yard rolls. I have gotten into using red or navy blue in brown dyed leather. I didn't think I would like that but love it now.
Hey Justin, A good friend of mine in Dubois, Wyoming, Tracy at Blue Sky Leather, creates the most awesome perfect and fine beautiful leather work I have ever seen. Last time I was in her shop I asked about what glue she used. She, without hesitation, said Barge is the only way to go. She said Barge All Purpose Original is the only thing she uses. You might want to give it a shot.
One of those 500 meter spools will last you a long time. I haven't found anything better than Ritza thread when it comes to hand sewing.
another good tip thanks for sharing
Never heard of Tiger thread before. I just use the waxed stuff from Tandy. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info!
Please do a demo/comparison video with application of the contact cement!
Just wanted to say, you make great pieces of leather art. I enjoy watching all your videos. Atb to you.
a tip : watch series at flixzone. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
Good stuff.
I hope you stocked up on that thread.. it would suck if it was bought out.
Thanks for the video
lol.... Right!
thanks for the info , keep the videos commin !!!!!
New to the hobby and loving it. I've only ever used tiger thread as I heard about it in doing research before I purchased anything. I have a question about the glue. Have you used the water based glue as I see some using? Does it matter as far as durability or is it simply more efficient as far as drying and setting time? Thanks for all your informative videos. I've learned a lot from them.
Check out Rocky Mountain Leather for Tiger thread. A little cheaper than Amazon in my experience.
Justin - if you're looking for full spools, take a look at "buckle guy" (~$30 for 500 meters). I've been using tiger thread for a while and the 25 meter yanks were getting expensive.
Thank you Greg. I just seen it on there the other day. I'm for sure going to buy the spool next time from them. Amazon will get expensive real fast.
Greg Curtis where is the Buckle guys platform to purchase from? Trying to find him to buy from as these small lots are insanely expensive!
cool
What thickness of thread do you use if you don't mind me asking?
I've been talking to don Gamber he swears by this stuff.
Don is the one I learned it from. I have another video coming out very soon giving him credit.
Don contacted me to help improve my speed. Get more projects done faster. He's been a big help. I face time him and gives me tips. Love your channel can't wait for the next video
Justin, I Know some of you guys across the pond can have difficulty getting Tiger thread, check out Armitage leather channel, he has a nice review of slam thread czcams.com/video/qFYsJBcU2pMS/video.htmllam thread appears basically the same as tiger, but might be more readily available to you guys.Regards Pete.
