What a great video! So many people talk you to death so unnecessarily! You're straight, to the point and perfect video shots! Excellent 👌👍! Thank you!!!
Thank you so much🙂 its always nice when all that work and effort is appreciated
You are very, very good at making these videos man. Great job and thanks! I was able to fix this issue for my girlfriend in about an hour with your video as a guide.
Thank you so much🙂...Thats so cool🙂 glad to hear my video was able to help, u got it done fast👍
Dude. Thank you!!! The same clicking started in my Avenger this morning. Now I have a fix that's easy and cheap to do. I was getting ready to trash the car. You saved me $100's in repair costs.
Thank you🙂...your very welcome, its always nice to hear that a video u make helps someone else fix their car🙂
Yes! Believe it or not, Mine started last summer. i have been dealing with it since. Im fixing tis shit my self! Fuck over priced mechanics bills! Thank you!
@@joekohl2247 mine started today so now i know what to do :)!
Chris, i hate these plastic cars nowadays. Best of luck on your repair!
Trash the car because of a blend door issue? LOL
This is exactly what I needed, thank you so much! This noise has been making me crazy for almost a month now.
Very helpful! Thanks for making the video and showing actual steps we can see. Much appreciated.
Anytime🙂...thank you...really appreciate it
You are still the best teacher of this project on the internet with tough cam work.
Your instructions were exact. The replacement took 20 minutes total (due to cramped Actuator space). Thank you!
Thats awesome..yea those areas can be pretty cramped...thank you🙂
Just wanted to say thank you. This is obviously the best video made for these types of Dodge Avengers. I'm glad I somehow found it after watching multiple other videos!
THANK YOU! I just bought a 2010 Town&Country, got a good deal on it because of the clicking noise. Took me 4 hours to find this video, a half hour to find the broken actuator in my car, another half hour to get a new one from the store and replace it. I'm not a "car guy", so this is a big win for me. And you've just save me a lot of money that I'm not spending at a repair shop.
That's awesome..great job!
You ROCK! Thank God there are people like you getting out these messages. The dealer would charge me $500.00. And ya know what. I wont have to beg a man to this, I can.
So glad to be able to help🙂...yea u definitely can do it🙂
I'm going to have to replace a couple of mine. I have been reading the comments. Kudos to your for taking the time to respond to so many questions, that's amazing.
Thank you🙂 i always try to because i know if shoe was on the other foot it would mean a lot
Love your videos - got one of the actuators going on my 2012 Avenger (definitely one of the ones behind the glove box) and this gave me the knowledge I need to replace the bad boy. Thanks!
Thats awesome! Great job🙂👍...thank you
Very helpful reminder since I haven’t done this in a couple of years. Solid video and audio. Thank you much! ✌️
Thank you🙂
This was the best video for this problem. Great job, THANK YOU
Thank you, really appreciate it🙂
Great job. The attention of detail with the tonality of your voice is amazing. I was able to fix the actuator in my truck. In credit of your wonderful video!
Excellent information and video . Straight to the point and very informative . Thanks
Thanks for literally showing step by step and showing us the view once removed, so I know I won’t break anything. You also showed us the other 2 even though those were not the issue on the vehicle you were working on. Thank goodness because mine is clicking on the passenger side and seems to fail every year, not sure why.
So glad to be able to help🙂
Is your car a smokers car? Maybe the nicotine is making things more sticky?
Very helpful, buddy. Guided me through the repair. Keep up the good work
I have to say that you have the most informative videos out there. No doubt about it
Very helpful video. I was actually able to change the drivers side actuator without removing the bottom panel. However it was pretty tight and I'm a smaller guy. If you're flexible enough you can reach everything underneath without removing the cover lol
Man. Use a drill! Zip, zip, zip! All the screws are out and you just made your life a lot easier!
I have this issue ever a few months, and it is always been the one to the far right which I think is the trickiest one to get to. Thanks for showing this video!
Yea it does look like itd be hard to see what ur doing when ur removing the screws on that one
Bro... I been asking a bunch of people and they don't want to do it because it was hard. Thank you for guiding me. I did it by myself and saved $100!
Ha! The last 5 years I've owned my Avenger and I get these clicks on both sides! Definitely one of my little projects in the not too distant future!
Fantastic how to video! Clear explanation and excellent video! Appreciate you taking the time to share this repair. Folks like you help us to save time and money. Thank you! Owe you a dinner when you are in town!
Thank you🙂
Great video to the point, and free of unnesscary nonsense Kudos!
Thanks a lot for this... fixed my car just now.. would not have been able to do it without this video..
Thats awesome glad u got it fixed🙂..thank you for the support.
Thank you, great informative video... straight to the point 😎
Thank you🙂
Thank you so much! The arm came off when I took off the actuator and was having a heck of a time figuring out how they went back on. Appreciate it!
So glad to be able to help in any way, I had the same problem when i removed the actuator, so i had to place the arm back into the guide rail too... thank you for watching and for your support:)
Backyard Chevy s
Great video. Was putting off on fixing it since another video said I had too remove the dash. Easy fix.
Thank you🙂 the one i replaced on video was a lil uncomfortable to do because i was trying to fit camera too..but it definitely can be done..the others are easier
Thanks man! That noise was driving me nuts!

So glad to be able to help🙂 thank you for watching and for ur support🙂
Thank you! Worked perfectly on my 2013 Avenger SXT, the only hard part was the angle of those screws!!
Thats awesome🙂...yea the top screw and keeping that bracket in position was quite annoying.
lol yes I wound up on my stomach from the drivers side to get it
Done right brother 👊 thank you 😊 God bless you and your family 🙏

Thanks for a very informative video !!!
Great job on recording the noise, so we could compare. !!!!
Very good amount of detail, thanks
Great video. Please do lots more. Very informative
Thank you so much🙂...yes, i will be putting out video's least once a week
Thank you for actually being helpful
This video is, as I'm sure you're aware by now, one of the best repair videos I've seen. By any chance, would you happen to know what might cause the ticking in the actuator assembly itself? It looks like the defective one wanted to keep pushing past where it should've stopped.
It’s the plastic gears slipping
Apparently the plastic gears inside are really easy to damage.
@@frostedsiren well I do appreciate the input I'm not sure the gears are the issue (at least in my case). I opened it up and the gears were completely intact. I even applied power to the motor both ways and even that was still functional. Unfortunately I don't know much more about these assemblies.
Best video for 2010 thanks.
Thank you so much🙂
Thank you for making this video. It helped a lot!
So glad it was helpful🙂 thank you for the support
I would love to replace the actuators myself, but I right want to mess anything up. But this video definitely summed things up. I really appreciate your explanation/video. I just need to find a good mechanic to replace the actuators. I have a slight clicking noise when the heat turns on and/or when I switch the control positions. Someone told me to also make sure my antifreeze isn’t low. I have heat coming out of the passenger side, but barely the driver side and the heat is not hot enough.
Yea u definately wanna start by making sure ur coolant level is up to the mark, and if that doesnt help, u wanna make sure if u do take it to a mechanic that they verify its not a clogged heater core beforehand, they can feel if the inlet and outlet lines of the heater core are both getting hot.
Wish more people would get to the point! I think that’s what will make people subscribe
Yea i do that with all my videos
This is an excellent video!
How do you not have a million subs yet?

Which actuator controls the temperature from hot to cold?
Awesome video. Very good camera angles and instructions.
Thank you so much:) I really appreciate hearing nice comments and support:)
@@backyardchevy328 No problem! Now I know how to fix my car. People told me I would have take the whole dash apart.
Always glad to be able to help:) Yea there are some vehicles like the pt cruiser where u gotta remove most of the dash to get it, but not this one luckily:)
@@backyardchevy328 is there a certain way I have to have the arm to get it to work? I put it in and plugged it back up but it won't even move.
Yes, the bracket should slide into the arm, at 5:36, it shows how the arm is slid into the guide of the arm which controls the operation.
Very good video,, great picture and extra chatting. Just right to the point and the subject at hand. My kind of video. Thanks for the great video. Best I've seen.
I meant to say no extra chatting.
Thank you🙂 i really appreciate it
Great video. Thanks!
Well done video. Very helpful.
Thank you so much🙂
Very Well Done !!!!
Hey people. I was reading other comments from other videos. IF your vehicle is blowing hot one side and cold on the other like mine was you either have to replace the Center Actuator, or the one on the Driver's side. I replaced the one in the center, it wasn't easy but I did it (this one controls the heat, not the one close to the passenger's side ). You'll need a small ratchet and 8mm socket, or you might need a Stubby Phillips/Flat screwdriver depending on what type the screw is. There is little room to get in, but it can be done. It took around an HOUR to get it out. Lots of body twisting. Use a Light too. I got my part from a Wreckers so I had to take it out, that took about an hour, because I didn't have the right tools. I used a Channel Lock to loosen the screws. There are 3 screws, but I couldn't get the back one so I broke off the last Screw holding it down. But I did replace the center one and now I have heat on both sides. The broken one I took out, shook it, and could hear it was crapped out. **** Sorry for the long posting, but if you're going to replace your actuator I would suggest order one online, or go a auto parts to buy a new one. Hopefully my 2 screws will hold. I was quoted $800 to get this done. AND don't forget to Plug it back in.
I appreciate your help, sir.
First time I've I've posted a comment and CZcams but thank you for the help.
Welcome to the youtube comments:), Thank you for watching and for your support:)
Excellent job sir.
Thank you🙂
thanks for the video! the ticking was driving me insane. thought the mob put a hit out on me lol
Well done video. Thanks!
Thank you🙂
Hey man!
It's been 5 years since you posted this video and I just want to say, that you're a king among men. And I'll throat-punch a mofo who says otherwise. I've been dealing with this issue forever and talked to someone who said "there's only one blend door" and I thought -- that's weird, because that's not where the sound is coming from ...
... I just found your video, hahaha ... like, right now. And it's been months. Thank you!
this has been very helpful you the man keep up the good work
Thank you🙂 i really appreciate it
i had a question sometimes the switch to change my heat from foot to windshield doesn't work so when that happens i change the cabin filter but still once in while it doesn't work whats your thoughts on this thanks my car is a doge avenger 2013
@@mrpetereldgmail could be a problem with the blend door actuator that controls the air flow, maybe the gear might be broken and not catching to allow u to adjust it.
Great video, now I know what that damn clicking noise is, thank you!
Thank you🙂 so glad to be able to help
Absolute legend. Thank you!
Thank you🙂
Do you have a patreon or anything? I feel like with the amount of money you’ve saved me by showing me how to fix my sh*t box avenger I owe you 😂
@@notorioustay2648 unfortunately not as of yet, but i do get super thanks now🙂
thanks very good video
Gracias maestro eres bien expresado y claro thanks
Thank you!
good video,well done
Thank you and thank you for ur support🙂
Great video!
Thank you🙂
Most accurate video. Thanks. Chances you know how to prevent actuator from working every couple of second while key is not in ignition and car is off?
awesome video! I had to take mine in anwyay. I have a 2014 avenger . It has huge plastic piece from the AC next to it and made it impossible to reach to screw it in place.
Thank you..yea they can be hard to do
Great No Nonsense video! Was the bad actuator for the Heat to Cold temp door, or the Defrost, Vent or Floor air director assembly? Applicable on a Chrysler 200 as well? Thanks!
Thank you
Yup, just as you demonstrated. Thanks.
Thank you🙂
Thanks for the demo video! I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger with the clicking noise and no heat on the drivers side. I got 2 actuators from Amazon and replaced the one on the passenger side behind the glove box and the noise went away and my heat returned. However after a couple of weeks, the replacement actuator made a louder clicking/grinding noise and I went to replace it again. This time, I started the car ignition w/o starting the engine. I noticed the white cam turned back and forth about 360 degrees. Is this normal operation? Should the cam or the door vent be in a specific position when installed? Thanks.
They can either be run through the calibration procedure or u can do it manually if u install it with the valve where it should be based on the controls
thank you so much I was told by mechanics I would have to take off the whole dash
Great vid on changing that actuator. I have a 2011 Charger that has noise on that same one, is it similar to this to replace? Thx.
Thank you very good
Thank you🙂
That was a beautiful job. Will this also work for my 2013 Dodge avenger?
Thank you so much:) Yes it will
Hi!! Is this the same steps to use for fixing a 2010 Jeep Patriot?
Thanks for the video! My Avenger started blowing hot air out of one of the vents and cold air through the others. I think this will solve my problem
Thank you🙂 hope all goes well and smoothly
Thanks!
Did the video fix your problem? I’m going through the same issue
So I went ahead and replaced the blend door actuator and it worked fine a few times. I was able to switch from cold to hot and hot to cold. Then after I tested it a few times I tried switching it from hot to cold and it got stuck again on hot. It seems like for some reason it is having a hard time switching from hot to cold. From cold to hot it moves fine. When I watch the actuator under the dash I can even see the arm connected to the actuator struggle when trying to go from hot to cold. If I nudge it with my finger it will go ahead and move. So pretty much right now I'm just keeping it on the cold setting to avoid the hassle of it getting stuck on hot. I'm not sure what to do at this point
@@TobiasHolenstein i might be a little late here but you prob got some debris in the door area, i would see if you can manually operate the door see if you can free it up ✌
Great video... Just one thing you forgot to mention thats to disconnect the battery before removal of the part which is extremly important✌
Thank you🙂 yes ur right..safety first
This video solves my problem. Thank you very much!
Thats awesome...thank you🙂
@@backyardchevy328, I'm dealing with this problem now and your video made a huge difference in my life! I definitely subscribed to your channel and will recommend you to anyone i know! Thanks again!
@@joekohl2247 thank you so much, that really means a lot to me i really appreciate it🙂
@@backyardchevy328 , my main question is... Are all these actuators interchangeable? It seems like just a motor needs to be replaced and they can be? Please advise???
@@joekohl2247 yes all 3 are the same..they just have linkage attached to it to function where they need to or other just slides into the gear etc
Thank you for your video! I have the clicking sound on a 2006 Dodge Dakota. I've looked everywhere but I don't know how many actuators it might have. I do hear the noise coming from two distinct sides.
Normally they have 3 unless they have dual zone climate control
I hear the noise above the gas pedal and the same noise from the right side of the glove compartment. So does that mean 2 of them are bad?
@@pawglover37 it could be there is one just above the gas pedal and there are 2 on the passenger side..but it does kinda echo in that area..best way to tell is to feel em when theyre making the noise..youll be able to feel the clicking
I recently had the clicking but it only lasted a few seconds for a few days and then stopped. But more recently the AC stopped blowing cold and only heat comes out. The fan and direction knobs both work but temperature will not change. If actuator is the issue which one would it be that makes it stay hot?
I already tried changing the whole climate control module. Appreciate any reply!
The clicking sound is similar to what I heard this morning when I started my 2014 Dodge Avenger. Would I be able to locate the actuators in the same locations?
Yes they should be in either the same or similar locations..the actuators are the same design still.
Subscribed, I will check it all out. Hey what if I become an ACE mechanic lol.
Id be really proud of u and im sure u can do it🙂...thank you for the support
That was a fantastic video. So clear! Close up camera view? Nice! And you weren't blathering on and on. To the point. Well done.
Thank you🙂
My 2012 avenger make a high clicking sounds for short time when I unlock the car and open the door.. the sounds disappear after few seconds and they came right from behind the steering wheel.. what do you think?
Yea thats the same thing this one would do, it should be the same actuator i had to replace...with the blower on, turn the switch from hot and wait a few seconds then go to cold, that should make it happen as well
I had my driver's side actuator replaced by the shop mechanic that my used car dealer recommended (it was still warrantied) but now a slight strain sound occurs when I use the A/C (AZ in summer) … can the actuator arm that operates the blend door be out of it's parameters and thus the sound I hear sounds like the actuator is trying to move the arm past the rail guide's optimum positioning?
Two things I noticed in this awesome video:
1) The replacement actuator had a slightly different shape. Maybe not OEM?
2) When you R & R'd the white arm thing it seemed that you hadn't been concerned if it was replaced in any specific geometry (if that makes any sense, beyond of course placing the arm in the complete opposite direction). If though that arm is too far off on the gear mount could the actuator be attempting to run the arm farther than the rail guide will allow? Hence the strain sound that is currently emanating from the area where this actuator was reinstalled when the A/C is used, say in the recirc. position v normal A/C position.
I haven't tried all the A/C positions quite yet for it is summer here now so I wonder when the winter calls for defrost and such will the blend door work briefly before the strain of having the arm too far off causes a failure of the actuator, again.
These cheap bits in our new modern age cars where the manufacture is less concerned about reliability than profit and keeping the dealer's shops in business is a mismanaged short term stock price incentivized mistake. (Dealers make their money on service and service contracts sold today and fees attached to the sale of cars such as documentation fees)
If a dealership isn't selling to a customer more service and new model cars and generating fast turn around of cars that won't last 200K+ then their not going to keep their gleaming showrooms and acres of shiny POS on their lots.
The business model of the entire industry should be revamped to emulate what the Japanese market of yesteryear had in place. Now South Korean car manufactures are trying to out do current Japanese models.
Does it only happen when u adjust the knobs? As long as the actuator is tight and the arm that it operates is in the the groove, it wont have any other adjustments...I have a video i posted which shows the inside and how it works, its posted at the end of video too.
THANKS! I've had a 2012 dodge avenger that made that annoying clicking everytime I open a door or turn the air on this was the problem.
Glad my video could help🙂 thank you for ur support🙂
Do you have a video on replacing in a 2007 300?
