Thank you for playing more Vic 2. I truly hope you play this one out to the end. Greece is no easy feat, but clicking the "Form Byzantium" button and seeing that purple wash over all of your territories is an amazing feeling. Good luck, Shen.

when I was a kid visiting paris, we had "learned" some key travel phrases to use, one of which was to ask where the bathroom was. well, we were in a department store and I asked one of the employees where the bathroom was, she kept sending me to the area of the store that sold toilets.

I love that Shen's doing the things I (among others) recommended he do for this campaign (play as Greece/small country, use the increase tension focus, etc)!
Lel, I just started as Greece, got Russia as my ally, went to war with the ottomans, 25 minutes later, 1840, I have every single starting core but Crete, 10 min later, i own Crete,me:it'll be a long wait till 1850...

When I saw Greece, I hoped it was EU4, that could be a cool series too! Greeks Strike Back! Corfu, Naxos and Athens, even though they all start as OPM Vassals.. XD

I enjoy watching both LP of Greece from Shen and Kail, both have different playing styles and both are very entertaining, neither one is better then the other they are both awesome and fun to watch.

My personal starting strategy involved getting the UK to invade Japan and seize territory for me; Japan's total lack of real naval power early in the game means that the UK can roll over them and force the concession of Kansai or Kyushu, which not only has a gold node, but has a significantly larger population than all of Greece, which means a much bigger tax base.
Now, the UK will typically throw in its own demands into the deal, but I've found if you go for Kyushu, they'll often end up in another war with several great powers, and will end up peacing out just for your desired concession.
It's much easier to do than an early invasion of China, since the AI can win on its own.

In my last campaign as Spain chile was a great power #6 which was strange because I just finished watching shen's chile campaign and he ended in the same spot but I've never seen chile become a great power before

FYI, the newspaper is correct. Remember news took a very long time to travel..Remember the Battle of New Orleans? The 1812 war was already won, treaty signed, but word didnt get to New Orleans in time. So hearing about the war AFTER it has already started( and not being informed on recent battles or accomplishments) is sound given the time period...
Shen any chance of world conquest in victoria 2 as the UK, i would like to see one world conquest it would be awesome!
wc in vicky 2 is virtually impossible because you get massive consciousness by having high infamy. this would lead to insane rebellions
but it would be awesome, maybe if he used a cheat to get around it, i dunno i just have seen Shen do a play through with the goal of world conquest and i think it would be entertaining to see. Not to mention the UK is very OP in Victoria 2

Honestly it's hard to compare Greece playthroughs. The crisis system depends on chance to a certain extent (as in whether your crisis comes up first or you're able to get support), so your expansion through that method will be different every game.
shenryyr2 There isn't even any similarity in your play styles so comparing them is for nothing and that is the reason why at least I can enjoy both of your campaigns. It is interesting to see different strategies evolve and they lead to two completely different games, the only similarity is that you are both playing as Greece.. which is a challenge in itself so there is nothing wrong with two brilliant youtubers doing it.
I didn't realise while posting this that people actually took sides. I just saw it as a way to support Shen. If you'd like me to, I'll remove this comment. :3

Shenryyr should try playing with /gsg/ Vickymod, it really enhances the game by adding more countries, events, decisions etc.
unfortunately i haven't been able to get any mods to work. tried zombie apocalpyse, tried vickymod, tried modern age, etc... none of them work. either they crash on load, or the game loads and the mod is not running.

And since you are in The GB sphere, of course they'd help you take Johore, as they get in on the market as well as the rest of their sphere.
If there's one nation that's left me salty in vicky 2 it's Greece. I've had so much bad luck as this nation trying to get any land. It was easier as Byzantium in EU IV to get land back than as Greece.
Also the amount of influenza and other events meant my population wasn't doing too great.
Dunno if it's something with my game but i started 3 times with greece and UK never came to help me to take johore, so I lost the war. Actually, they didn't come to help in any war I involved them in.

I played Vic2 yesterday for the first time and I need help. I can't justify war or put a national focus on a core ( for example Crete). All the icons above the minimap aren't there too. Can someone help me?
So when I played as Greece I almost wiped out the Ottomans all they have left is a good portion of Turkey but I’m not able to form the empire which I can’t spell it so do I have to take out the Ottomans when he can do that right now or do I have to do something eles which reminds me when I get on the game I’m gonna find that out

The game is 100% broken, I declared war to Egypt, England(my ally) demands land, the land costs warscore and the warscore is too high for their demands so I can't get anything from my war...Now, I still get the infamy, I have declared the war, I wanted them to back me only(so no friendly country will support Egypt), and they gave me 25 infamy from my demands that i couldn't fulfil even if I had fully occupied Egypt(25 infamy goes away after 20 years and I was 1880).So if a great power wants land or any other gain, then it should declare the war not the player, in few words my game was ruined, I couldn't continue to do anything, my factories were bankrupt cause the British sell in my country(obviously, I can't raise tariffs)my army was at its best,5% everywhere and my prestige very high, but after England took 4 regions and I was left with 0, but 25 infamy and -70 prestige there was no reason to play, and it makes sense since the game is broken, otherwise the British would behave as they did in the fucking real world, that's the aim.If the game is still.in the market, then in paradox have no shame for what they deliver in exchange for money, and real money, not like their market in their game, cause in that market they would be bankrupt too!
