It was fun and an absolute pleasure meeting up with you and getting to impart some of my wisdom to one of my heroes! Thank you so much for this opportunity, seeing some of my builds and my face in a Hermitcraft video is bucket list level to me! Good luck with the city.
Its an honor to witness this day
@@stefansauvageonwhat-a-twis1369 You have witnessed I think almost all my highlights at this point XD
Just wondering if you profile pic is lobo from dc
@@reuben-kw3hb Heh its actually a fancy cyberpunk variation of Deadpool with a mustache, hence the name Derp+Deadpool+fancy=SirDerpol
But his current RandomcraftSMP project is DC inspired
@@reuben-kw3hb nope, it's actually based off of the X-force deadpool XD
It was awesome to catch up with you and Sir Derpol. Had a blast! Awesome video and brilliant build! Love it ❤
Love the builds!
See.. i knew you'd end up on HermitCraft eventually.. glad you got your limelight.. should defo invite Pearl or Impulse to your steamcraft place like you did with Beef
It was indeed a lot of fun, thanks for inviting me Adie!
❤
I really thought you're gonna join this season, sadly not all wish will happen. But I hope you will get invited next season sir Adie!
"Since fuel is cheap, I don't care that I'm wasting a bunch" is a very cyberpunk way of thinking.
Everytime someone suggests using an observer as a decorative block, Etho feels a disturbance in the force 😂
For Snips: Cybernetic Implants you should get Iskall and Doc to advise on the project since they already have cybernetic implants.
That would be so cool, yes! Boost!
Best ripperdoc in night city... I mean unnamed cyberpunk city
There can be some type of lore created in this.
Just call it Snaps
And advertise. 😂 New spokesmen!
*Anyone:* Gem, how's your day going?
*Gem:* __
An iron bar/ some kind of high security fence around the power plant would add the feeling of separation between the more clean feeling of the government run power plant and the disparity of the slums. Social disparity between the rich and poor is a big part of cyber punk
A fence would give the feeling that even though the slums are right next to the plant, and likely many employees live in the slums, they aren't benefiting from the energy being made in their backyard. Other cool details might be somehow making it look like some people have broken the fence to siphon energy into the slums because of the frustration of that disparity
That and, given the power plant probably generates noise, heat, and results in reduced local air quality - it makes sense that the poorer part of the city is surrounding it.
I love when creators not only learn from each other but promote and uplift each other. No one exists in a vacuum and it’s nice when collaborations are valued and acknowledged
I live in a vacuum, but that's because I suck at everything.
My jaw dropped when watching the time lapse for the power generator. How is it possible for someone to evolve their building style in just one episode??? Definitely tons of off camera practice and learning. Man I'm so impressed.
Also the detailed rooftop makes a lot of sense since most hermits will be flying in!
Yeah great building, I wonder if a couple of bonemeal in invisible frame stuck on the fan (I think it make sense for it to be an intake fan) would make it look like some crumpled flyers or something got sucked. And in a cyberpunk city there should be some trash area in back alley where shady stuff happen, so think about a police station (I was thinking making use of a heightened bridge for access to it on top of another building and having some drone patrolling and a pad on top for recharging/ helicopter)
Honestly I was completely astounded! You've made some massive steps out of your comfort zone and stepped into a new impulse era!!!
LOVE IT!
This is actually a pivotal build. Also him not just copying other creators or ‘bdubifying’ his build, but I really see all the building and creative experience from the sea pyramid onwards coming together and merging in a unique and recognizable style here. Yeah, this is a true accomplishment, man.
Iskall: "It's bird poop"
Bdubs: *features it in every build*
Frong! 😂
Didn’t even have to name it 😂
Haha @@Charlescarder
Iskall has admitted it can look good in builds... he hates it because he is no good at making use of it.
Bird poop asthetic
Build ideas:
-Sewers ( can add ninja turtles )
-a fire station ( could add a futuristic fire truck with an active fire )
Love the way the city is turning out and can’t wait until it’s finished :)
should be "*must* add ninja turtles" haha
Or a crocodile eating Scar as he looks like crocodile Dundee 😂
how about a firestation that actually sets things on fire
I think a junkyard area could be cool
Also add police station with flying cars. A park like in the back to the future where theres a giant clock and people with hoverboards
I appreciate Gem continually trying to explain to the rest of the Hermits that False and Cub can both out-pvp her most of the time. Most humble Hermit.
I mean she also had a room in her season 9 base filled with the heads of the Hermits she killed, which included a lot of Etho heads.
No the most humble hermit is totally definitely Joel /j
@@BlueBanana.yes, the man who role played as a Greek god is humble
@@darkdragoness5that’s because Etho is washed up
Behold, "building with impulse" ! Distant cousin of "redstone with bdubs" ofc. Glad you embrace and learn more about building
He should make this a segment.
if you want the 'slums' to really look run down, you should replace a few of the street froglights with dim redstone lamps or purple glass or something. LIke they're burnt out.
Oxidized copper bulbs or one of the other many light emitting blocks would work too.
Maybe put lichen on the purple glass
potholes
Gem was the definition of she's standing there, menacingly.
Some suggestions--fire hydrants, clotheslines strung up in alleyways btwn buildings, police barricades/checkpoints, flying cars, giant neon billboards on top of buildings, steaming manhole covers.
That generator is absolutely perfect. Most cities are a little more run down around industrial centers, so it’s perfect to have the modern generator shoved in the slums.
Absolute perfection.
Should name it IMPlantz for the whole IMP everything
"I gotta watch my back now, walking through the city" that just means you're getting that true cyberpunk experience
My favorite example of the cyberpunk indifference to the people. Despite the generator being right next to the city wall the huge intake/exhaust fan points right onto the street.
Whatever name you come up with for the city, I think a great sub-name for it would be The City of Impulse, like how Paris is also called The City of Light. Not only is it an obvious reference to your name, but a city where one can satiate their impulses is also extremely fitting for a game-filled cyberpunk dystopia; like a future version of Las Vegas.
I love that you show how you try to get better at building. To the viewers, it can sometimes seem like you Hermits are on such a high skill level that it can seem unreachable. Showing the learning progress both humbles and humanizes you and also teaches ways to get better to the viewers. ❤
The giant fan is blasting hot air right onto the street. That's some cyberpunk stuff right there.
It is such a cool centerpiece
Could be a cool air intake ;)
I'm not super familiar with cyberpunk, but if it's exhausting hot air, it might be neat to put some sort of shantytown shack in front/around it, people taking advantage of the free heat
My first thought was "Oh that fan air must smell TERRIBLE!"
I have a feeling it's going to be some sort of ' Alice in Borderland' city. Where all the people have disappeared and then the remaining peeps have to play games to stay alive. I love how the city looks, really proud of you two.
The implants are called Cyberware in Cyberpunk and they're installed by a Ripperdoc. Love how the city is coming along!
It was very nice of Adie and Derpol to show you their stuff, their insight was really cool to listen to. Can't wait to see what else you build this season!
yeah, that segment was sick! i’ll have to watch the longer vid on adie’s channel for sure
From Tangos massive steampunk gear, iskalls only fan and now Impulses power fan. Big season for us spinny thing enthusiasts.
One thing I think you need in your city is a curb. All thr roads are level with the sidewalk, and that kind of ruins the look I think. You should drop all roads down to be a half block lower. Or lift the sidewalk up half a block.
Dude.... Imagine having a hermit reach out to tour your world... Incredible
I love how everyone is referencing Bdubs and getting approval from him. He is truly an inspiration for builders.
I also love how Impulse has been getting better and better with his amazing builds. I can't wait until the city is finished.
100%. Pearl and Bdubs in my opinion are the two "artists" of builders on the server
A
A
I was just thinking how in season 7, when I first discovered hermitcraft, Impulse’s favorite block was quartz, and EVERYTHING was quartz… folks, this is character development 😅
You guys should add a little park/basketball court next to Bdubs first building in the city. It would allow the graffiti to be visible and allow the city to have some breathing room. Looking great!
Yes
love this idea omg. a little alleyway with a basketball hoop or a dingy park would be very fitting, idk why I’m imagining the field from Sandlot
And it could be a game where Hermits shoot themselves into the hoops with a trident through some obstacles or the others have to fishing rod the one into the hoop haha
Good idea
That would be amazing
This looks amazing, it's definitely going to be a highlight of Hermitcraft when it's done. If you can get Gem to stop killing you, you should ask her about her power lines she has at her base, it might be cool to connect them to the city and she even got them to spark using fireworks.
If you're worried about carrying interest up 100 blocks, you can lean heavier on multi-use architecture. Plan a plot like 2-3 stacked buildings sharing a color scheme instead of one tall skyscraper.
Bdubz touches on the spatial layering with his sky crosswalks. They're useful to generate interest and direct lines of sight. Go further and you can use them to cover open air marketspaces or stations. You wouldn't have to worry about people looking at the upper building portion except on the periphery.
Purpose gives buildings a reason for being there, but with cyberpunk the purpose doesn't have to be for the building's sake so long as it benefits the surroundings. For example, cutting into the back of builiding for wide stairs to the upper level or cutting out a chunk for a rain water collection tower.
Typical city planning means bulldozing a building when it no longer suits the intended purpose of the site. Cyberpunk cannibalizes.
I’d have gone with “snipperdocs” as a throwback to snips and the real ripperdocs
Also fits in with Doc having a lot of cybernetics hehe
Great name! I hope they use it.
As a minecrafter with a half-cybernetic skin, I'm very excited for Snips' evolution!
Very cool that you keep learning and improving!
Omg I had the same idea! I could absolutely see a ripper shop called Snippers in the lower side of Night City.
If you really want to give it that claustrophobic feel, take a tip from 2077: when walking around night city and you look up, you see roads and walkways above your head. you could even take them over some of the shorter buildings.
For the future, once you’re done with the power poles/get into the richer/newer areas: you should put in sidewalk vaults and manholes to show power coming from underground.
my favorite trope in cyber punk is the city thats grown vertically separating classes and the slums are a gritty cultural and technological mish mash and things become more cohesive and futurist as you go toward the rich area
would love to see large pipe and sewer infrastructure, maybe a storm drain canal, to help add depth to the street floor. I would also think adding water dripping and maybe flowing water for ambience in the more slummy and industrial areas, maybe random piston and dispenser noise too.
cant wait to see what you do next
you guys should connect the powerlines to gem's powerlines and have different themed powerplants serverwide. this season socialises the hermits a lot more than any other season and i think it's just great. also, you could name the city "New AdieSir" to honour the cybercraft guys!
I’m an engineer for a power company so I always slightly geek out at these things, it’s looking great!
I just wanted to share some pretty basic info on substations/power plants/power grids incase anyone’s interested. So, substations will almost always have three different things, transformers, which take one voltage level and changes it to another, breakers on either side of the transformer, which will cut off the power on the line/transformer, and relays to control the breakers, usually they’re are separate relays for multiple different functions, but sometimes it will all be combined into one device. Generators usually always generate at a different voltage level to the rest of the system, so they will always have a substation between them and the wider system. For a power grid in a city, there will usually be multiple different substations, that way if one goes out, there will be options to switch to another, Substations tend to not look the greatest, so bigger cities tend to hide them in nondescript looking buildings that are basically just a facade.
Love reading stuff like this, when an expert is able to give reason and function for a field they work in
Detail Idea! Campfires underneath trapdoors in the street would add a great level of atmosphere, looking like steam coming out of the sewers.
I watch a lot of fWhip, and he really likes to emphasize lines of sight. So the bit where Impulse shows us the current view from the entrance - lovely. Loving how the powerlines add to crowding the skyline, love the way sight of the sky is getting blocked off. Might be fun to add some campfires with haybales to the generator building to add some smog to the city.
Never mess with Gem. Even if she's at 10% less power, it is more than the average Hermit.
Holy SMOKES Impulse is leveling up his build game. Truly a power plant worthy of the BDubs section of the city. The detail and colour is incredible
That generator build is so insanely detailed. Impulse, already this season alone, it has been amazing to see your growth as a builder. You've always had a cool style, but it has been wonderful to see you step outside your typical realm and try new things.
Love how the areas are coming along. Have you considered adding either a "working" elevated train/tram rail going through some parts of the city? Having that tram run through the slums and making certain roads that it runs over much darker and, therefore, more shady would help out with the atmosphere and help fill in the space to make things feel more cramped. Also, if you make it broken down, you could build a train/tram car that has been taken over and made into a hangout or gang base
Bdubds, Adie, and Derpol, so many building legends in this episode, its truly an incredible journey seeing Impulse learn his way into cyberpunk building
Here's an idea. Next to power lines, you can also have more lines running across, with clothing on it, or banners or something. Just to make it extra crowded
You know in Kill Bill when Beatrix sees one of the other Deadly Vipers, time stops and you hear that high pitched siren sound? You can watch the moment Gem hears the siren and snaps.
Some smoke rising out of the top of the generator building would add a lot of life to it!
Bdubs is like the master builder, as far as I know both Impulse and Grian have been taking ideas from him and admiring his building basically the whole season! It’s so cool to see! ✨
It's amusing to think that years ago, before Grian joined Hermitcraft, Bdubs made some videos where Grian taught him a bunch of building tricks, and now Grian is learning from Bdubs, Bdubs has definitely become a powerhouse in building, but I think the big thing is Bdubs found his particular skill in building, and that is texturing, other builders have been great at detailing for a long time but I've seen a lot higher focus on gradients in most building communities since Bdubs started really delving into it.
@@DreadKyllerOthers have always been amazing with adding detail through shape and color. But the way bdubs uses and blends all ( I mean all, he is the first person I’ve seen use blocks most others wouldn’t even dare touch) colours minecraft has to offer is nothing short of art
You could use cybernetic snips as a rewards store too. Assuming the game part has an in-game currency, the hermits could "win" upgrades to show off how well they fair in the city.
The city is like a venus fly trap, it welcomes the hermits, traps them and then plays with them. "Vliegval" or it might be ironic to call it 'The Sanctuary'
i really like the name CyberSnips, as used briefly in the episode. it shows that it's a throwback to Snips, but also cyberpunks it up, shows that its not the same
11:31 I would say in a cyberpunk city, the closer the buildings are to one another, the better. Or rather it should look pretty crowded. If there are big open spaces from floor to sky, then there needs to be something there, a building or an overhang/bridges connecting buildings to create various levels to the city.
17:50 guess I spoke too soon.
great video! snips sounds like a really cool shop to have, and with it's location in an affluent part of the city, it could be a high-end cybernetic implant shop, which leads to the option of having more dirty and "run-down" cybernetic implant shops in the slum areas. also, it would be especially cool if you really drove home on the idea of levels in the city, with shops and walkways on different heights in the city (which would be smart due to population density and the only way to expand being upwards). as well as this, i think 'Sabre City' could be a nice name for the city.
With all due respect, a learning moment sir. "Oriental" is not the term you want to use. I know it wasn't out of disrespect but I thought I'd drop a seed on that one. Side note: I'm TREMENDOUSLY excited about this project!
That's what I came here to see
“Orient” just means “east.” I don’t there’s anything wrong with it
was going to comment this
@@JediMaestr0 its a western term that has its roots in 'orientialism' which is very racist
THANK You!
The Cyberpunk builders had some great tips, but to add one more thing to it all: To get more "noise" in your city, adding gradients in the color palette of every building really makes a build look more "busy". This is exactly what BDubs does and why the amount of contraptions on his builds aren't necessarily a lot, but the builds still looks very "busy".
Edit: In both SirDerpol's and AideCraft's builds, they also incorporate a lot of gradient and texture to their builds. Their example world was great, but you can see the difference a well diversified color palette makes to builds when you check our their other stuff.
Impulse, I have an amazing idea, after you build the city, do a "renovation" on your 1st building to make it fit the new style you've developed over the season. It would be a good way to show people how far you've come throughout the season.
Interesting thought but I wonder for him particularly maybe he leaves it As is just so he can see how far he's come
I think the cyber punk city would make an outstanding arena for a pvp battle between the hermits, going in and out of building, shooting from walkways, it has so much potential.
It might be fun to make the powerlines go over the wall so they can connect to the powerlines at Gem and Grian’s bases!
i absolutely love that power plant build and i love that you're showing and walking us through your learning process! i also LOVE the idea of a utility building in the slums because nobody wants a power plant in their backyard, but the people of the slums can't afford to move to a better location. really adds to the "-punk" feel of the cyberpunk
all i'll suggest is something to the effect of a chain-link fence keeping the residents away from the government building and add even more claustrophobic feel
In your cyberpunk city, you can never have enough signs and billboards and lights, in my opinion. But you also need dark gritty areas. But in Cyberpunk, the game you get your mods from what they call Ripdoctors, and they are usually hidden in dark alleyways or basments of legitamint businesses. But you have a Cyberpunk city expert on the server with you. Vintage Beef had a really cool city he never got to finish.
Indus'pull sounds like a fun City name. A bit of industry, drawing you in, sounds a bit like cesspool, and just combines you and Bdubs's names.
Epic building idea
Lambo- you put animals that people can ride in there
Never mess with the gem
I think they were called Ripperdocs in Cyberpunk, so maybe a bit more of a friendly sounding profession. Maybe barber could be used but they do more than hair in the future. The barber used to be the local dentist as well, so this would be kind of similar.
Barbers used to be surgeons. The red and white poles of fame were from the bloody rags that were draped outside.
I like the idea of repurposed modern day technology and transportation in a cyberpunk city, like an Old Ship turned into a bar or a plane turned to a restaurant etc
This is looking so good! While I was watching I suddenly realised some fire escapes and stairs coming down the buildings from the outside could look super cool too!
Add some sewer! That connect to nearby river and ocean!
I've got a bit of lore for the Cybersnips store!! So, what if, cybernetics define how well off a person is? Like people from the slums don't have any body modifications at all, but people from the richer part of the city flaunt their cybernetics, kinda like how people do with gadgets irl. That could also answer why the body modification shop is the center of the market, it literally exists as a status symbol for the elite and therefore, is the most important store in the city!!.
Also, idk if this is already a thing, if it is, i've picked it up really late. if not, Lore!
we've already got the government in hermitcraft, here comes poverty
Typically in the cyperpunk genre most have cybernetics. However where the disparity comes is the quality. The poor will resort to back alley, black market cybernetics instead, or save up all their money for the good stuff and be left in poverty. Vanity is literally all that matters. So… i think the idea of having two cybernetics shops could be incredible. One far less hygienic and glamorous than the other.
I feel like elevating some of the roads above ground to have some sort of homeless spot with fire pits etc. beneath them would be so cool
You guys should totally add a mob switch so that you don’t have to worry about mob proofing. Plus you can play with different shadow gradients which would be cool
You know Impulse, ngl. Bdubs and even Joel are definitely just out of this world builders BUT, I was absolutely blown away by your factory in S8 and iBuy in S9. You have evolved so much, especially since going content creation full time. I cant wait to see this Bbus / Impulse continue to develop.
Oh! I also loved the industrial district last season, with that overview that looked like a computer circuit. Impulse, you're amazing!
You could add a holographic advertisement in a circle around the tall building, like they did in their cyberpunk world
I absolutely loved seeing that cool tour and meeting more cool creators. Subbed to both! Keep up the awesome content!
Great episode and love how you and bdubs have the city coming along - really excited to see the game ideas that you could up with in the space. I think a great name for the city would be DoublePulse City
Impulse's building skills just get better and better every season! I remember when he joined in Season 3, and the improvement is insane! I love watching you Impulse, and seeing what you build in this city is insane! You are a huge inspiration to me, and for that, thank you!!
The power station looks fantastic, I can tell you are really starting to get a feel for texturing. One thing I noticed watching this video is that BDubs uses concrete very sparingly and usually opts for blocks with more built-in texture. This really helps give the blocks a sense of materiality, and certainly adds to the cyberpunk grunge. I look forward to watching this project develop!
I love the build. It's really amazing! It reminds me of Bdub's brutalism style with the sections of white interrupted by high detail bits with the observers and random blocks.
A serverwide capture the flag game in this city would be insane - you could even do it with 4 teams
That’s what happens when you mess with Gem
What I love about this (aside from my boi Derpol getting an epic shout-out) is seeing the process of listening to people with specific expertise, putting it into practice, and creating something jaw-dropping. No ego getting in the way, just a drive to learn and improve.
I can’t wait to see how you blend your style with Bdubs as your buildings grow closer. Will be really cool.
For the generator building, it could be really cool to have colored beacon lights going off at different times, like an unstable power source; redstone contraptions could be used to rotate colored glass to change colors and possibly block some lights. You're builds are seriously amazing, and I love how you introduced SirDerpol and AdieCraft; I love learning about new (to me) minecrafters!
Snips but Snyps cause like Synapse integration with stuff
Edit: Really like "Snyps & Chyps" someone else said in replies :D
yeaaaaah good idee man
Docm77 will be the first customer!
Snyps & Chyps
The power generator is SUCH A GOOD Build, but I I think what it really needs is power fences! To prevent trespassing, I think it'll add a feel to the building
for real life inspiration of Cyberpunk ideas, and the inspiration behind many of the classic movies that defined the genre, look up Kowloon Walled City that used to be part of Hong Kong. it was a self governing district of about 40 acres that thousands of people moved into when the British took over and built their own city The British weren't allowed to enter the ancient fort that contained the city by the treaty that gave them control of Hong Kong for 99 years, though that agreement was defied just before the city was given back to China and the city was demolished in the late 90's
It's so great seeing you and Bdubs work together and learn from each other. It's not easy to venture out and try new things but you're doing an amazing job Impulse!
Don't forget about Beef! He also did a cyberpunk themed area in a recent season of HermitCraft. I believe he called it Three Fox Hole. There are probably some additional ideas you can get from visiting there or talking to Beef. He might be playing as a farmer this season but there's a love of the cyberpunk style hiding underneath too.
Snipps should be Ripps! Ripper docs are where you go to get cybernetics in Cyberpunk 2077
This is just incredible work. I’m absolutely loving seeing the city come together!
Wow, it was Amazing that you reached out beyond Hermicraft for ideas and showed cased other Minecraft players in the video.
Your drop tower game should have a parkor up to the top but also have an easy way up in case they just want to do the drop game you talked about.
When they die, they wake up in the cybernetics shop lol
For the City name, how about "BDubs and Impulse's Awesome Graffiti-ed Cyberpunk City /with Slums and Futuristic corners too!" I think it flows very nicely and will fit on signs super easy
Imp's ability to collaborate with so many different creators and remain involved and engaged is one of the things I appreciate so much as a long-time viewer
could add fencing around the generator building to highlight it and distinguish it from the slums also for the interior could build some huge machine inside which generates electricity which will look cool and cover space
I love how most people using NEA probably will never notice that the clock gets held up so it looks like the player is looking at it... And then there's Bdubs, holding one 24/7.
Smokes coming out of the generator build would look really cool. Also, that Bdubs billboard looks amazing, adding some few lights would really enhance it.
He is a very special type of builder. A crafter if crafters, giver of gives, the one whom all cheer and get excited for. When it’s that time of year for his arrival, children clap and yell, excited to see the spectacular block filled gift. The artistry makes all cry with glee, and joy and say with exlimated words of admiration. “Oh BDoubleClause the block man hatch come!!!” He built in the snap of a finger and gave to the masses a blocky world or joy for the masses! Thank you BDoubleClause!
Another wonderful episode, loved seeing your thought process with Bdubs & the guest segment to get more cyberpunk inspiration :D
Impulse, whatever game you’re making here, it should be multiplayer across the whole city and involve hermits running around on the roofs. Like a Capture the Flag or something.
