And apparently had little rap battles in the playground. Then in middle school, Jiyong moved neighborhoods and schools and they lost contact since they weren't technically friends back then. GD uses the phrase 'well known rivals' in their memoir. Years later after GD had already been a YG trainee for years and they'd grown significantly, they literally ran into each other on the street when TOP was hanging out with friends. GD once said he almost walked past quietly because he thought they probably weren't close enough to yell Hi to. 😅 But TOP was the one who recognised GD and waved him over and they ended up exchanging numbers. I think a good example of this is Mino himself, if anyone picks up Winner's first songs and performances, they'll see Mino forcing his voice to become hoarse, deeper (I think it may have been unconscious, but a clear "imitation" of TOP), and then we go to Winner's current songs and Mino's solos, we can see that today he knows who he is as an artist (and let's face it... a hell of an artist), but more than that, as a person. I think this beginning of theirs (all idols) must be so hard, you have to prove it to everyone every time that you deserve to be in this place. lol i like that you pointed out that "there's not much cuteness you can add to it." coz, facts. when i first heard them, i thought that the arrangement/placements of their voices are just right. there's two opposite rappers (high energy high voice GD and drunk heavy voice TOP) and the excellent varieties of vocals in the middle. it's only later when i heard other groups that i realized that maybe they were unique/ accidental/ experimental group. i think TOP is actually the first rapper in kpop with a deep voice (correct me if i'm wrong). sonically, their voices just work together, but they're really not the "cute" kpop group. i think, at the start, there were a lot of comments about how they're ugly and how gd and top aren't legit rappers (TOP especially because i think he rapped underground for a short while? and he was a chubby kid). TOP even said he didn't know what kind of boy group bigbang was going to be at the start, because they're all very different (looks, sounds and style).

U should see 0 to 10 Seoul top doom Dada fav performance out of the bunch. Also top and gd had a whole album together. There are some mvs of them together but there not in bigbang official account because there album logo look to similar to the playboy bunny. lol i like that you pointed out that "there's not much cuteness you can add to it." coz, facts.
when i first heard them, i thought that the arrangement/placements of their voices are just right. there's two opposite rappers (high energy high voice GD and drunk heavy voice TOP) and the excellent varieties of vocals in the middle. it's only later when i heard other groups that i realized that maybe they were unique/ accidental/ experimental group. i think TOP is actually the first rapper in kpop with a deep voice (correct me if i'm wrong).
sonically, their voices just work together, but they're really not the "cute" kpop group. i think, at the start, there were a lot of comments about how they're ugly and how gd and top aren't legit rappers (TOP especially because i think he rapped underground for a short while? and he was a chubby kid). TOP even said he didn't know what kind of boy group bigbang was going to be at the start, because they're all very different (looks, sounds and style).

U should see 0 to 10 Seoul top doom Dada fav performance out of the bunch. Also top and gd had a whole album together. There are some mvs of them together but there not in bigbang official account because there album logo look to similar to the playboy bunny. Also Top wrote a lot songs but he only gave us little snips to hear in insta. Never let whole song out to public. He likes making music for himself lol.
