Ugly is originally a 2NE1 song. Daesung performed it once with Yoon (Seungyoon from WINNER, they are also a part of YG). It was an amazing collaboration, and after it in 2014 I still desire to listen to their proper collaboration. They are powerful Kang and Kang. (They both have the same surname - Kang Daesung and Kang Seungyoon).
Also, their version of Ugly is available on Spotify. No need to say that I'm listening to it a lot. Legendary performance and I'm still (after almost 8 years) craving for another one.
So WINNER is BIGBANG's brother group. They are actually super good. I love them a lot. Yoon is their maknae and leader. Also he is super sweet guy, so is our Daesung. Yoon's solo works are soulful and great. He is main producer of his group songs.
It's a shame I talk so much about Yoon. But I can't help he is a great artist.
But Kang Daesung.... Ah ah, at one of his solo concert during "talk part" VIPs ask him to sing Ugly. He was like: seriously? It's not even my song 🙁 but then he sang a bit of it a cappella and it was perfect ❤
My friends know me as "Double Kang biased". Ah ah and this Ugly performance did that to me.
Look at Me Gwisun was made when Bigbang went to a show, and Gwisun picked Seungri over GD as “date”. GD made the melody at that point and so this song was born. GD wrote two Trot songs for Daesung, the other one is entitled “A Big Hit”
Wait till you find out Daesung along with Seungri are the resident clowns of BIGBANG. LOOK AT ME GWISUN is naturally how Daesung is off the stage. Him and Seungri are mostly the ones leading the conversation whenever BIGBANG are invited on shows, both members are also the ones who have the most appearances in variety shows and with Daesung also being a regular cast at FAMILY OUTING.
Yep you can tell they are the clowns, i always remember when in 'BigBang the beginning' they were dancing, singing and just being idiots till the others come in and join them lmao.
Daesung belongs to ROCK for sure. Me and many more other VIPs desperately want his rock album. I pray this will happen. It's such a waste we still don't have it.

UGLY is a song by BIGBANG's little sister group 2NE1, Daesung covered it along with Seungyoon the leader of BIGBANG's little brother group WINNER. 2NE1 had a song called UGLY because when they were rookies they didn't fit Korea's "beauty standard" and everyone called them ugly including YG himself saying 2NE1 are not pretty without makeup despite having Dara Park in the group who is one of the prettiest idols in the 2nd Gen, she literally debuted when she was in her mid-20s but looking like she's 16 and she was often mistaken as the youngest member of 2NE1 when she's literally part of the eldest line, now she's in her late 30s but she will still pass as a 20-year-old.
UGLY is originally 2NE1's song. I follow you on twitter and saw your tweet asking 2ne1 suggestions. UGLY should definitely be on your list, if it's not there yet. Also, that's Kang Seungyoon from WINNER. Another YG group that you might want to check out, too.

GD created that song on the spot during variety show because an audience chose Seungri over GD. Then he seriously composed it into a song and he gave it to Daesung because Daesung loves trot.

"UGLY" was originally by 2NE1.
The singer performing the cover of "UGLY" with Daesung is Seungyoon of WINNER - which is another group under YG. Artists under YG often cover one another and perform together. Despite the company being kinda crap sometimes, I think the groups themselves have a pretty close bond and BIGBANG's juniors under the company are fans of them, so it's really nice seeing them able to perform together sometimes.
"Look At Me, Gwisun" was made by GD as a joke and he gave it to Daesung because Daesung has perfect vocals for a trot genre. Trot is insanely popular with the older generation in Korea and Japan, especially. So Dae went viral with this song.
Daesung always has held such a special place in my heart. He's gone through a lot and people often bash him for his visuals (like are they blind???). He has covered his eyes and face for most of their career because of people hating on him (and after the incident years ago). However, I've always found Daesung to be the most sexy member and in Japan he's known as "Yabai Kang" which basically translates to "Dangerous Kang" because of how sexy he is. He holds the most popularity in Japan out of all of the BIGBANG members, plays the drums, and has stayed clear of social media during their career as he likes his privacy and has the same opinion about the media as the other members. Dae is goofy and insanely talented. That's why I chose him as my bias despite GD actually holding a stop as one of my ults of the industry. There's just something so charming about Daesung that once you notice it, you just can't get out of it.

"I love you" is superior in my eyes. It was that song for me. Once I heard it I knew I will love him and his voice till forever. I was crying, didn't understand any lyrics, didn't see the video but I was crying so hard listening to I love you. He gives his all when he performs, you're right. His emotions when he sings is more like his heart is talking. It's breathtaking and it surely gets you. His voice when he sings... He can do anything he can touch your hear and soul. And yeah, everyday he doesn't perform or sing or releasing a song is a waste. He belongs on stage and I'm so grateful I know such an amazing artist as he.

Daesung is the ex that you'll never get over and also every mother in law dream son in law. He is nerdy, savage, funny, and sexy. A dream bf material. His voice is heavenly. “Look At Me Gwisoon” is a local korean music genre called Trot. It’s more on the traditional side, but tremendously popular locally (and maybe even more popular in SK than Kpop itself).
The original song is in Korean. GD made the chorus on the spot in a variety show and decided to create a full trot song for Daesung who fits the genre more with his voice and humor. It is later translated into Japanese to introduce trot to the Japanese audience.

When my daughter first played Big Bang at home I was like what are you listening too, then I heard Daesung's voice and I was like oh my who is that! I have been a fan of Daesung and Big Bang ever since and I love their live concerts.

To me a classic rock voice, is a voice like Daesung's and Kang Seung-yoon's, a voice that can rock, sound husky and clear, a voice with low and high notes and everything in between, a voice that is sung with whole body and sole to create a natural story. A voice that can not only rock, a voice that can suprise you and sway you into other genres like a beautiful heart felt classic song. They both remind me of Freddie, so passionate about their music with body and sole with amazing beautiful unique voices.
A few years later my daughter was lucky to see Daesung and Kang Seung-yoon sing Ugly live and I so wish I could have. I would so love to hear them sing together again and I'm looking forward to the future to see them both explore music more with their own groups and their own solo adventures. Will always be looking forward to another Australian tour.

Daesung not only has a unique look but also a unique voice.
For me, he's one of the best vocalists I've ever heard and not only in South-Korea.
He's also an amazing performer. He talks with the audience, makes them laugh.
He's not only talented but also a very smart and practical guy. I love his sarcastic sense of humor.
On top of all these, he's also a drummer and has his own YT channel (I know, I know... it's not Dae, it D'splay :P).

Apart from ugly, Daesung, Taeyang, Seungri and Se7en (their "senior" at YG) did a version of 2ne1's lonely at a YG 15th anniversary event.
Daesung suffers from a vocal condition and it is uncurable he can do a surgery but it won’t last. He said that if he ever lost hid voice, he wants it to be on stage. He sometimes do two concerts a day and both are 4 hours long. Im really worried about him :’

His Kwon Ji Yong ep was his last solo release before joining the army and it was like a tour through his life. All the lyrics are meaningful. As usual with him, there is a lot of wordplay. A nice FMV with eng subs from Dorian Gray of g dragon's divina commedia is good. Need the subtitles to understand this song.

i'm sure someone must have already answered but seungyoon is the leader of the group Winner (also from YG) and seriously he is wonderful and the group too, the most famous songs pull more for summer pop, but the whole discography is great. the solos of the members are perfect. Yoon is one of my favorite vocalists, along with Yesung and Yoseob from Highlight/Beast.

Thank you for reacting to my Bigbang bias! He is exactly everything that you said about him. Did you know that his voice wasn’t stable in his early days because he has vocal nodules I think. He still has them but worked hard on his voice and stability to reach where he is now.
