  • Watch as we take on the challenge of restoring a vintage Singer Table from the 1800s back to its original beauty. One of the most our most challenging pieces to date due to the delicate veneers and appliques. Veneer removal, veneer repair and reapplication, colour stain correction and many moving parts and pieces to take apart and out back together.
And don't worry, our client still has the original sewing machine, they kept it at home while we restored the table.
***I’ve put together this video from old footage so it’s not perfect, however it will show most of the process. **

I am thrilled that I saw your channel. It was such a pleasure watching someone (a lady in fact) putting on veneer. I’ve always wanted to to try it but I felt intimidated by it. You definitely made it look easy. You did beautiful work on this old Singer sewing machine. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I’m really partial to oak especially if it’s got tiger oak too. I have many antiques made out of oak n some have the veneer ( which needs to be replaced). I also loved the stain that you used. Such a beautiful color of a brown. So many older pieces have an orange tint n the color you picked was perfect. I’m definitely going to continue watching you. Call me a newbie.

The wash and stain combo is beautiful! I will have to try something similar on a tiger oak buffet I have in my inventory to tone down the orange.😍

A wash before a stain is a great way to tone down golden tones and give you a neutral base to work with! ❤
