Loved this! So many books added to my TBR
That’s kind of cool about On Eagles Wings
I need to try some Sophie Hannah!
I loved the magician’s nephew as well
SO good!!
So great that you loved Memory Lane!
I was very pleasantly surprised!
Oooh, maybe I’ll have to read the Magpie Murders!!
I can’t remember if there was much strong language in it, I’m not the best at chronicling that aspect in books. Hopefully there’s not too much and that you like it!!
Favorite nonfiction of the year (and pretty high on the list of all time favorites) was Surprised by Oxford by Carolyn Weber. Beautiful memoir story of coming to Christ, that reads like a novel. Just so so good. Favorite Christian Fiction was The Lady and the Lionheart by Joanne Bischof. This story got me. It is historical romance but so so beautiful and heart wrenching in a good way and a beautiful representation of the Gospel. Be sure to read the Author’s note at the end. 😆
These sound amazing!! Thank you for sharing, I’ll add them to my list!
Definitely added some of these to my ever-growing TBR. Some of my favorite Christian nonfiction books from this year were: Another Gospel by Alisa Childers, the Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund. Happy New Year!
I feel the same with my own ever growing TBR 😂 I haven’t read any of the ones you listed so I’ll add them to my list!!
I just stumbled upon your channel ❤I love it - I did the Micah 2 bible study and was so excited to hear that you love books!!!!! I read a ton of Christian mystery books … reading Nancy Mehl now - soooo good my fav book of the year was When the day comes by Gabrielle Myer - oh my gosh it was so so good 😊 I will check out some of the book you suggested …. What’s your fav Christian muster author ?
Oh and Francine rivers has so many great books I have actually read them all😆- the atonement child is amazing by her
Thanks for your videos ♥️
Oh my gosh, thank you!! I don’t think I’ve read any Christian mysteries so that’s something I definitely should try reading this year! I’ve heard good things about Nancy Mehl!
Please don’t stop recommending books! Not too many Christian CZcamsrs do, also that are aligned with my beliefs.
Thoughts on Powerless by Lauren Robert’s?
I just finished Wingless Bird by Catherine Cookson.
I haven’t read Powerless, but I know people have been raving about it 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for your inspiration with some new books! I recently discovered this book: The Purpose Driven Life - from pastor Rick Warren… Do you know it? I really like it. :)
I have heard of it, yes, but I’ve never read it myself
My top two favorite reads of ALL TIME are The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah and When The Day Comes by Gabrielle Meyer! EVERYONE GO AND READ THESE TWO BOOKS!🎉
Oh yay! I just added the Gabrielle Meyer one so I’ll add the Kristen Hannah one too!!
@@_KendraChristine you’re going to love both of them! The Timeless series (When The Day Comes) is my favorite series I’ve ever read. I can’t wait for book 3 to come out this year! And The Great Alone is my favorite standalone!
One of my favorite books of 2023 was Every Woman a Theologian by Phylicia Masonheimer. It gave me a lot of things to think about and look into during my Bible time. I also just started Holy Hygge by Jamie Erickson, and if the first couple chapters are any indication of how I'm going to feel about the rest of the book, it's going to be a 5-star read. I'm just really wanting to focus on slowing down, enjoying the small things, and being more intentional with my time this year, and I'm hoping this book will help with that.
Those both sound so so good! I completely agree with that heart posture of slowing down and enjoying the small things! I love books that can remind me to do that ❤️
Loved this! Thanks, Kendra. You always give me such good ideas for books to read. I’m not sure if you ever read historical fiction. I’ve watched all your book review videos, but can’t remember for sure. If you’re interested, I just finished The Little Liar, Mitch Albom’s latest book, and it was one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s about the holocaust and I really thought it was good timing for what’s going on in the world today.
I haven’t read too many historical fiction, but that sounds so good! So I’ll definitely give it a try this year!
I read Magpie Murders years ago and remember liking it. A Quiet Retreat sounds good. I love when people are trapped in a location. In books, not in real life😆
You’d probably love Moonflower Murders too! I think I liked it even better than Magpie! And that gave me a chuckle… trapped in books… not real life 🤣🤣
I have Narrow Gate Narrow Way but haven't read it yet. I also love Paul Washer:)
It’s so good! I would love to read the physical copy the next time I read it!
I really think you'd enjoy Heather Webber books! I guess they'd be considered magical realism where they have supernatural aspects but nothing creepy or overwhelming. I read a few of hers last year and they were all my favorites for the year! Very cozy 🥰
I’ve never heard of her! I’ll definitely try a book from her! Do you have a favorite that I should start with?
@@_KendraChristine Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe and South of the Buttonwood Tree are the two I read and loved them both!
Love Paul Washer!!
I really like Sophie Hannah:)
Read any by Julie Kramer. She’s my cousin. She writes about real stuff and she’s done stuff with The Today Show. I think you’d like her books. She’s kind of a mystery writer. I loved Jinger’s book. I need to read Jill’s but don’t own it yet. Julie writes murder mystery too.
How cool that your cousin is an author! I’ll have to check out her books!
@@_KendraChristine you should! My bro is a drag racer too so I have some famous relatives
I felt the same way about Riley Sager’s book. Sooo disappointing
Have you read his newest one? I’m hoping that one redeems it!
Should you be reading murder books as a Christian?
That’s an interesting question… the first thing that came to mind was if Christian’s shouldn’t read about murder, then we can’t read the Bible. And most fictional books that have murder as a plot, the point isn’t the murder, the point is finding justice. But every Christian should listen to their convictions! And I won’t finish a book if I feel it goes against my convictions as a Christian
