    Me playing the organ at Burley in Wharfedale Methodist Church near Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
    The organ was built in around 1890 by Wordsworth & Co of Leeds. It has since had some restoration work but retains the following original specification:

    I am playing the hymn "When a knight won his spurs" to the tune 'Stowey'.

    I always loved that hymn at school , i knew it by heart.
    Hearing it takes me right back .

    At my school we used to sing this at least once per term.
    The school chapel had quite a good Father Willis organ at the time, which made a good show of this hymn, so it became one of my favourites.
    It had a trigger swell, which I found very difficult to use effectively.
    I've only sung it it once, since I left school, almost 60 years ago, at the funeral of one of my old school friends, who must have liked it too.

    I think it's around seventy years since I last sang that hymn, when I was in Miss Lang's Kindergarten class. Thanks for the memory!
