- This is a funny "nightmare gig" story from when I was a musician in Nashville years ago.
No music, no rehearsal, no sound check, no sound guy, my amp blew up, and we didn't speak the same language. In the end, it was actually a fun gig.

I play in my church regularly and thing occasionally go wrong, but man. This takes the cake.
Thank you Kennis, I haven't laughed that hard in quite a while!!
Great story. Thanks for sharing Kennis!
Cool story. It's amazing you guys made it through that and did an actual show!👍😎🎸🎶
I know. I was amazed at the end.
@@kennisrussell awesome!🙂
Nice story! Glad you guys got through it!
Thanks.
Great story, I feel you bro, I have had a similar situation..
I’m sure there are countless nightmare gigs.
I play bass at my church I've been in a position where there's a song I've never heard that I'm supposed to play. I'm like give me the key and I'll figure it out. Jazz band and ear training definitely comes into play. Great story I feel you.
Thanks man. For sure jazz band and ear training are useful.
Lol. Thanks for sharing!
Sure thing.
I had one as a teen (1965). Girl wanted our rock band to play at her wedding. BUT her father didn't want to hear the Stones and Beatles. I was the drummer. Our guitar player and keyboardist had a fake book and we did an hour and a half of polkas and show tunes. What a disaster. But we got thru it.
Lol. That is a funny story.
Couldve been lots worse ,, couldve been me . Lol
" Blake Shelton" talks about his worst gig
Lol
So, did they pay for your amp?
No. They did not. But I didn’t push the issue.
This isn't a shot at you Kennis but this is often the cases with church concerts. Crap audio system n nobody knowing how to do anything. I saw it a lot as a kid as my parents often did guest appearances in churches many weekends through the 70's n 80's. It was so bad at times my dad had a powered mixer, mic's n pair of speaker cabs that they always took to do their own sound. Worst part is they wouldn't arrange the fee before so lots of times they got nothing (mega GRRRR) or $20 which didn't even cover their gas.
The event you're talking about is a lesson for any venue (not just churches) on how NOT to handle a live performance.
CJ99 Churches, the richest cheap organizations in the world.
I thought you stopped watching a minute into it. Lol
Playing for churches is tough sometimes. Overall I have had good experiences.
@@kennisrussell no I came late for the premier n just saw the end so watched the full thing right after.
@@kennisrussell I did lol, but I know churches and their finances :)
Sorry Kennis, wanted to listen to this but at 1:39 the ads started to roll. I’m out.
Sorry man.
A couple 5 second ads isn't a big deal, it keeps it free for us.
Sam Mathis True, but give it a bit of time. Running the ads just as the video is getting started ruins the experience.
There is always youtube premium.
@@kennisrussell I know but I already pay for NetFlix, Amazon Prime, Internet, Cable TV (for the wife), etc, etc. I'll think about it for sure.
