    I found that knit picks through you and have loved every yarn I’ve used from them. So many socks made with their stroll fingering. I made my dad a colourwork tapestry out of the Wool of the Andes bulky weight and I just finished my porcelain sweater out of palette! It’s my favourite place to get good quality wool at a decent price❤

    Hi Emily! Knitpicks is not available in The Netherlands and ordering it from the USA would be too expensive concerning shipping costs and import duties.
    I love your PetiteKnit cardigan! I think the fit is perfect.
    Thanks for this lovely podcast and happy knitting!

      Thank you for letting me know! It’s so fun having a very international audience, but it’s definitely a balancing act trying to use a variety of yarns that are accessible to different folks! I may stick to a roundup of my favorites across a few categories of yarns 😁

    Hmm the fabric on the Eva looks very crease-prone, not sure I would pick this yarn. But I like the color a lot. So nice about the free the sock pattern!

      I have noticed what you mean! I do think a slightly more dense yarn or tighter knit fabric would help with that!

    I’m currently working on the tendreil sweater by the knit purl girl with Knit Picks City Tweed. Definitely check out that pattern! It’s mostly stockinette but has lightning bolt texture on the front body framing the neckline. The shine of your Wool of the Andes would look gorgeous in the texture.

    • @highfiberknits
      @highfiberknits  Před 6 měsíci

      Oh yes!! I love that detail on the sweater…I only wonder if it is too dark and tweedy to really let the full impact through?

    I think the pink and white yarn you held up at the end would be great for Andrea Mowry’s DRK everyday cowl. It has a soothing slip stitch feature and i used a solid color along with a variegated color, just like you have!

    Hey Emily! Loved this episode 😊 just a heads up that Donegal (at least the place in Ireland after which the yarn is named) is pronounced "dunny-GAWL". I think donegal (the yarn) has at this point gained its own identity and therefore maybe even its own pronunciation, but just wanted to let you know in case you're ever referring to Donegal (the place) 😅

    lol you started talking about the lanark and i slowly looked down at the lanark i'm currently making for my brother that i decided to work on while watching your podcast. the one i made for myself during the test knit last year was even a dark purplish color (though it was a little more reddish than the purple you have lol).

    Hi Emily! I really enjoyed this episode! Love the yarn you selected for the Sibling Sweater!
    I would be very interested to hear more about Knit Picks yarn in an upcoming episode.
    Also, curious to know if you have had to pay custom / duties fees for shipping to Ontario from Knit Picks?

      Thank you! I’m loving the color pairing more and more as it works up 😁 I’ve placed several orders from knitpicks, and while some have been under and some have been over $100USD in value, I have never paid any customs. I am also usually able to get free shipping through a code / I shop on browser only to use my Honey extension and can get a discount.

I have edited for several designers so I have some experience and my career prior to tech editing was as a technical editor and writer for various software products so I have a detail-oriented, technical background. I know - it's annoying! But the Drops brand have similar qualities of yarn and are very reasonably priced. I go by the gauge rather than the weight stated and find Drops Flora a good substitute for Swish. If you can get together with a knitting friend and put a large order in, they ship for free to the UK for orders over £60.

    • @highfiberknits
      @highfiberknits  Před 6 měsíci

      The shadow wrap heel have a very good momentum to it compared to a traditional heel flap and gusset; I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s easier, but definitely satisfying and a less disjointed process!
