as someone who was homeschooled, i've found that parents typically homeschool their kids to indoctrinate them (such as christian fundies controlling and converting their children). many kids who are homeschooled also experience educational neglect and may struggle when pursuing higher ed and just with life in general. my parents got caught up in the 90s evangelical homeschool craze and i honestly think i would have been so much happier as a child if i went to a public or private school.

Fun fact about reparations in the UK - they were paid, but they were paid to the slave owners and not the slaves as the "cost of ending slavery". David Cameran (the PM from 2010-16, who started the Brexit mess) owes his family fortune to these payouts. He also famously (although not famously enough) went to the Jamaican parliament to get them to "get over" slavery, while proposing a "mega jail" in the islands to house "West Indian criminals". The tax payers in the UK were still paying off the reparations until 2015. Two years later, in 2017, was when the Windrush Scandal broke (which was the publication of the fact that the UK Government was illegally targeting and deporting West Indian migrants who were legally in the country).
There was also a mini scandal with the Queen when it came out during the 60s she had banned non-white people from having senior roles (i.e. above cleaning) in her households.

Hello, Welsh viewer here. I come from a rural mountain village in Northern Wales and all the generations of my family (mostly the women, but that's because it's quite a traditional small community) can sew. My grandmother has been making at least a few full garments a week for the majority of her life, and I myself sew a lot of the time. I would say most of my family have sewn at least the equivilent of 20 outfits, but bear in mind that this is a very very tiny country and the small villages tend to be more traditional than the big cities. Sewing is often more of a necessity for poorer families, as it is cheaper to make a few garments for the children out of fabric than to buy new clothes.

The richest people on earth have enough money to end world hunger and then still be rich yet they don’t. Without money, who are we as people truly? It’s crazy that something as simply as money truly does change how people see you and/or value you and it’s twisted truly. We need to love each other for who we are not for what we have.

My kids are in a virtual public school. A trained teacher picks out all the curriculum and does the lesson planning. The kids meet a couple times a day virtually with the teacher and other kids in their class to get their lesson. Then as a parent, my job is to help them do the work assigned and make sure they actually understand what they need to know. For us it is such a good option because we can customize most of the school day around each kids brain and learning style. Sure it's a full time job for me over seeing all the work, but my trans kid is safe and being in the rural south that would not be true in person. And since all my kids were getting bullied for being autistic before, not being in tradition public school is so much better.

I loved it, but especially as an oldest sibling, it affected my relationship with my family in a weird way (not always bad either) bc you basically end up being more like a cousin who visits once a month than another sibling. Thank you so SO much for talking about us First Nation's Peoples 💜 I grew up on the rez but my mom moved us when I started h.s so I could have a chance in life after my brother dropped out. I tell people all the time I didn't experience hot water from a faucet until I was almost 5yrs old, slept on the floor until I got a mattress for my 15th bday, and didn't live somewhere with heat (other than using the oven or burners on the stove- yes dangerous af but so is hypothermia) until I was 15. When we moved, that was when I got to experience all those "luxury" things. Sidewalks, street lights, nice parks that people go to for reasons other than selling drugs or sleeping. The rez is 3rd world but I AM glad I learned our real history alongside what's in our white-washed textbooks.

    So a few things:
1 - Monet is right, Louis XV of France ruled for slightly longer than Elizabeth (but he did become King as a baby)
2 - yes newscasters do change, also in realms like St Lucia and Canada, they have emergency lights to let them know something like that is about to happen
3 - building on the colonisation of America by Washington etc - I think really it should be offensive to say that just giving back some jewels or a few pockets of land is enough for reparations - returning the parts of the Crown jewels that you could identify with a country would almost absolve us of responsibility, when we could do far more with trade deals etc
4 - the reason Kate and William aren't holding hands is because it breaks protocol when royals are on business - Meghan is being vilified in the UK for doing it as patronising Harry (which don't even ask, right wing media is wild)
5 - Charles has always had weird hands and ears it's a thing he laughs about lol
6 - The Vivienne said on Drag Race UK1 she is a monarchist
7 - in the UK, as soon as that announcement of her doctors came out we knew she wouldn't live more than a day. It's just not an announcement they make - I'd guess she had a heart attack/stroke, but also maybe spinal cancer given her mobility issues over the past year

And in the late 90s, they made people buy a “bus pass” for $484 a semester, and there was no waiver for people living in abject poverty. They let us use the bus for free for 6 weeks, but after that we had to either buy the semester pass or buy a ticket to ride the school bus every day for $8 one way every day. So I had to switch to going to a charter school where I only had to be on campus once a week.

homeschooling groups are legal. Usually when you homeschool you get a curriculum from the state and then you can add to/tailor it. Many homeschooled kids actually excel academically because they don’t have to follow a set curriculum and schedule that isn’t suited for them.
Some places even have homeschool sports teams that compete with public schools.

I'm not a parent and I wasn't homeschooled but I believe most choose to do so because they have strong beliefs or concerns about the content their children are being taught. Sometimes parents want to limit what their children are being exposed to or they think thwir children need more one on one / advanced teaching.

Paddling is a thing at the school I graduated from.
There’s a wooden paddle that the principal has. They call you out of class into the hallway. The teacher goes with you & has to watch while they spank you 3 times.
    It’s all ages, pre-k to 12th grade.
Your parents have to sign the form giving the school permission.
There’s a no-paddling list, which my dad always made sure I was on. Those kids get suspensions or detentions instead of paddlings.
It’s mad weird. The Bible Belt is a weird place.

I’m south East Asian I had to take a mandatory sewing class in 4th/5th grade I think in general Asian countries or non western countries have a lot of “lifestyle” classes or customs sometimes if students got to school early they were able to clean the school (sweeping the leaves, waxing the floor) we weren’t forced to tho we just thought it was fun doing adult things and would fight for it. Thinking back I can’t believe they got us to do free child labor

Nahhh I don’t think bob is bitter. That doesn’t feel like bob at all to me. I’m sure he did help. No, my vibe is that something has gone on between them to cause strife, and while monet plays like there is no prob or rather doesn’t acknowledge it, bob is like “nope, ain’t doin it, you know it’s beef right now”
That’s the vibe I get. However, I DONT KNOW SHIT, like bob said this episode “what do I know?”
I think two friends are just in the shit right now but they’ve committed to us and to their tour etc so they are shouldering through it till it hopefully resolves and they are back to basics. THATS WHAT I THINK
I just feel the “I ain’t havin it, be fake if you want then” vibe from bob. And I could totally understand mo being like “well bitch we on cam we can’t just be pissy or there is no episode”
I see both sides. I get it either way. Hope they get back to their roots organically. Love them both

The thing about more advanced math in school is not neccesarily that you will use those specific tools ex. Sin&tan (in some professions you do, obviously, but not most) but rather that you get to work your brain and develop problem solving skills. I’ve studied 5 years of engineering with countless math classes and I’m probably never going to use some of those math skills again, but without taking those classes I would probably not do as well in my actual job, if that makes sense.

Home schooling can include cyber school. Also, I knew kids who were home schooled who went to the library and met with an educator. Homeschooling benefits is the fact that it's only 3 to 5 hours a day instead of 8.
To oppose people who say that home schooled kids are not socialized. All the homeschoolers I knew had many extracurricular activities including dance spelling bees singing lessons.
If I ever decided to homeschool my child. They would have an educator come to the house. Then afterwards they'd do extracurricular activities.

Also if you want to prevent Alzheimers, try to avoid things like extended periods of screen time or tiktoking for too long. It comes down to nueroplasticity; if you train your brain in concentration or doing a single thing for extended periods than your brain will better be able to hold those mental channels or build those bridges.
Sewing would be a great way to temper your mental acuity but the more quickly you filter through content or do multiple things than the less time your brain spends on holding onto or working on a process. Your brain needs exercise just like any other muscle or you lose functionality. You can meditate, sew, go for a quiet walk - you just have to really concentrate on what your doing and devote yourself into it fully.

Jamaica (my parents' birthplace) is getting rid of the monarchy (i.e., leaving the Realm), but like Barbados will probably remain in the Commonwealth. I wouldn't be surprised if St. Lucia doesn't do the same.
There is an irony that Meghan has been targeted for stuff other people aren't (the memes are kinda funny) in that the Queen was the one royal that Meghan liked (and it was a mutual thing too).
