  • Addressing Singapore's Parliament, on a report by the Committee of Privileges on 15 February, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong spoke about the need to safeguard democratic institutions in the country. Speaking about how 'trust in the political system has all but broken', Singapore PM also referred to India and said, 'Nehru’s India has become one where, according to media reports, almost half the MPs in the Lok Sabha have criminal charges pending against them, including charges of rape and murder.'

Singapore prime minister is really great for his excellent speech. India has to learn many things from a small country Singapore. Indias objection is meaningless and baseless since we are seeing the arrogance of MPs in the parliament and they never respect the law of the land and did not behave like a people representative. 50 percent of MPs are.corrupt and criminals in India.. It is good that singapore Prime minister has advised in a gentle manner reminding Indian MPs how to be responsible and accountable for the people of India. 80 percent of the Indian politicians are uncivilized and have no knowledge of Indian constitution and misleading the public due to their inefficiencies. Indian democracy should be modified with restricted democracy just like Singapore. I see many indian politicians talk about democracy every time but they are the first persons to violate the laws. Unless Indian politicians are not punished without any bias for their criminality in collusion with judiciary, eminent advocates, bureaucrats, police, etc.democracy will.be crumbled in India very soon. I believe that Singapore prime minister is giving masterly coaching for Indian politicians how the democracy should function. I doubt whether Indian politicians take the valuable clue from singapore prime minister.

at 7:55 what's said is quoted from media reports and is also factually correct. So summoning of the Singapore High commissioner by Indian Govt sounds hypocritical.
If the S'pore PM had instead praised, he would've been quoted by Godi media for at least 24 hours non-stop.
All said and done, except that this is an internal affair of India, Singapore is a FINE country.

Using the sentence "It's internal affair of India" makes the job much more easier. It helps foreign ministry in avoiding bitter but true questions or allegations

Note that Mr. Lee brought in many countries in his discussion BUT China has been clearly left out because PM Lee is always careful not to upset China.

This speech is too deep, profound and intellectually high for most politicians under the present BJP regime. Presently in India most politicians are hardly 8th standard passed and so this speech is way beyond their intellect capabilities, maybe if the Singapore PM used some words like "Muslim" Or "gobbar" Or "gau mutra" then a few politicians might be interested other then that most present Indian politicians would rather tune to randiya bhojpuri songs then listen this intellectual Singapore PM.

In India, demeaning and disregard of parliamentary norms starts from the head of the government and goes down to the bottom; Indians who voted him even after 2002 Gujrat riots need to introspect as to any morale and ethics left in them for bringing the country to the pathetic conditions it is in today. Those who still believe in him, rest in peace 🙏

Singapore PM stated facts about politicians in India, US, UK and Israel. I don't see any objectionable statements in his speech. However, we should note that there is no effective opposition party in Singapore. One has to wonder what kind of democracy Singapore has.

I have this to say to our dear Indian friends /bro /sis. I had a privilege to have lunch; many years back; with 3 lawyer ladies from India and they run a charity organisation in India helping ladies whom had been raped / abused / tortured and nothing was done to help them. The culprits run free in the society because the local system ; right from top governmental body; were corrupted and local police took bribery. Hearing their account made one feel angry yet greatly sad for those unfortunate ladies where no help were available; no to mention about the local system or the governmental body in India. We stand to challenge the India government to eliminate corruption/ bribery and prove itself Clean. Thank you PM Lee for the very candid / frank and yet right to the truth about India.
