  • Aerges Mirage F1CE recently had an update and I took a look at the basic flight dynamics. This is solely from a flight characteristics perspective. I leave graphics analysis to others who have supercomputers.
    0:27 - Sustained Turns
    1:50 - Max instantaneous turn to min speed
    3:22 - Slow flight analysis
    4:46 - Wing stall test due to aileron use
    5:22 - Low level thrust to weight/drag ratio test
    7:28 Landing

    Great analysis, I have learned a lot … thanks. The only item I would add to future videos, is the controls overlay so that the viewer can better understand how you control the aircraft. Glad to be a subscriber

    Happy to see this! I was hoping you'd give an update on the F1 and I'm very happy the module's flight model is still good and also improved in certain areas.
    I had never really known anything about it before this module, but they've done such a good job on such an interesting aircraft that it's really grown on me.
    Appreciate the time you put in to share this info with us!

    Didn't you used to have a video of a dogfight between the F-18 and MiG-29? I liked that video but I can't see it on your channel anymore. Did you take it down?

  • @emossg

    Btw what is the proper way to use parachute? I have noticed that when using it especially if still at high speed F1 will roll over to one side easily. It seems to be better to use the chute once speed has slowed down a bit.

    Are you sharing with Aerges the analysis you do of F1? It would be very useful for them to have this information to improve the flight model.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem +3

      They do have F1 pilots who know all this, they have said it themselves and they have been improving as they go. But we must remember its hard to take an actual plane and develop it in a simulator, every little nuance , at all altitudes speeds, etc, its really tough. My video is for all who love the F1 and want to know a few more details, especially at the edges.

    Good video! I like the content so far. What settings are you running DCS on? What gamma? Any post processing?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem

      I havent messed with Gamma, whatever was there I left it. Its really medium settings, nothing too high, except load distance, and trees are max. Only post is just editing of the video order and transition, plus a some audio adjustments if I need to add something I missed saying while recording.

    Nice analysis. However in the F1 you need to go by the numbers for the landing. In final you need to be at 10-11° AoA and then flare up to 13° AoA and touch down no harder than -400ft/s. With no ordonnance and fuel < 1000 liters, i'"m at 160 IAS at 11° AoA
    Are you ou were you an F1 pilot ?

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem

      Not an F1 pilot but I do have one we go to for qusetions, especially about the DCS F1. All of these jet planes are by the numbers, or you get a tail strike. 10 deg AOA with 13 deg AOA touchdown sounds about right. But no ground effect in DCS so I keep it at 8 or so on short approach or you hit hard. Even here it dropped fast at the end.

      @@FSX404 there is no ground effect in DCS ? I have the 2000c and it floats below 30ft.
      I find it strange for a simulator to not have ground effect implemented

    no one has done a dog fight analysis of F1 that i can find, showing its weaknesses/strengths against other cold war aircraft that i can find. namely F1 vs Mig-15/19/21, Viggen, F-5...

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem +1

      Sicario (good pilot from my server) kicked my azz in an F1 with a Vigen. I was surprised at how the F1 performed vs a Vigen at higher speeds, Vigen slowly outgained it. The 19 and 21 can just go vertical so the F1 has to fight like an F5. Just zoom and boom the MiG-15

    • @The90sHater
      @The90sHater Před rokem

      GVad The Pilot has a video from 6 months ago on this exact topic. Think he flew against a MiG-19, could have been the MiG-15. Anyway, he said to keep the F1 fast - around 400+ knots and keep with a 2-circle fight, don't go 1-circle. Keep above 10,000ft so you can dump the nose for extra speed. If you get slow, fly straight and level out to regain speed then climb. The jet is fast so you can always opt to run away if the fight is looking bad for you. Think similar to F-16 BFM.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem

      @@The90sHater yeah, forgot about that. Basically you can use the F1 to zoom and boom if 2 circle is not working out. Its tricky, but I did it in that video. Basically samenthing I did in a Mirage 2000 in a video I posted a couple of weeks ago... speedup, hard turn, shoot, stay straight with nose down pick up speed, hard turn again... repeat

    Hi there, I like these analysis videos of you very much and I'm a sub since the first one I saw!
    One suggestion I do have, is it possible to decrease the volume of the warning tone? It's so annoying while listening to your analysis! I know it should be annoying for it's purpose but not in your videos.

    • @FSX404
      @FSX404  Před rokem +1

      Its been decreasing with each video, lol, not enough apparently (this ones volume is 10 dB less when alarm is on, maybe 15 next time). Its a problem with my videos as I am usually flying these planes at the edges when testing. But hopefully they will keep getting less noisy in some areas.
