- Built from components from a pair of 1970's vintage International Harvester Cub Cadet garden tractors, this motor grader is completely functional and fun to operate. Both rear axles drive, the front has power steering, and the hydraulics operate off the charge pump on the forward axle's hydrostatic drive. Total weight is approximately 2000 lbs with fluid filled tires. Power is supplied by a Cub Cadet's original (rebuilt) Kohler K301 12 hp single cylinder air cooled engine.
I am a veteran, mechanic and, a heavy equipment operator. What you built is better than most factory small graders! Fantastic quality. Thanks again for sharing your amazing machines and display of engineering!
I’m going to have to agree with Jerry on this! What an amazing job of engineering and fabrication! E
@@arthurblodgett8400 Thanks, guys, for the very nice comments.

If I might add 1 bit of criticism (one in every thread)
It's missing 1 thing;
The hoper to randomly spit out nails
WHat a AWESOME HOBBY!!!!
I like that grader!
HOW MUCH!!!
I didn't know I needed one of these until 11 minutes ago.
CZcams is a costly place lol
Same!
Yes need it now after vedo 👍👍
You Got That Right ! And Need it Right Now
I concur
Now that's the coolest thing I've seen today.
What would be cool is to see the front tractor 1/2 but with the rear as duels/like a skid loader or a dozer.
If it was diesel that would be cool to 😉😂🔥
Agreed

That’s amazing. Great job. I have thousands of hours in graders, and this is one of the best projects I’ve ever seen.
Glad you like it!
Guy probably has the smoothest driveway in town. Hopefully the neighbors have been nice to him..
Run a grader for 20 years, that one there is too cool.
When you want to stop and go back, be sure to gently taper out any pile on the blade. Just lift the bit about a 1/2 inch and continue on foreward till the berm is gone and the bit is airborne. This way when you have to cross it again, you won't have a high spot under the bit when the steer axle climbs your burm. Once you get those high spots built in, it takes twice as much work to get them back out. I run both direct lever type and the newer type "jet" controls(joystick) for Idaho DOT and several other heavy equip. types. That little grader is amazing and perfectly sized for your application. Keep up the good work.
Funny you live in Idaho. Hello from Shoshone.
Howdy, from Orofino.
@@MrTackleberry79 That's a good way up there.
Tell me why you'd want one of these over, say, a blade setup on a tractor or a skid steer. Somebody has been telling me that a box set up with a laser is better in every way. Surely you can't crown a road or cut a slope with a blade setup though
WOW. SO COOL. Just mowing my lawn or pushing snow with my garden tractor I find very relaxing. I can not imagine how I would feel with that fine machine. BRAVO.
That is one nice machine ,Off the chart Build,Godbless
What an awesome build, the fact that it actually works in a practical capacity puts it over the top!
Outstanding use of old equipment! Old cadets never die, they simply get redesigned and used further. Well done!!!
Best video on CZcams about grading equipment cub cadet related
Very well thought out and constructed! Nice paint job also. Tires alone are a great factor in it's performance!
Truly a class act!!! congratulations on a beautiful project
Perfect execution! Nice design, good weld connections, and hydraulic sys layout. Kohlers do last forever! Thanks!
Another testament to American ingenuity! God bless you Sir, job well done!!
This is the best looking cub I’ve ever seen!, Now I wish my 125 had not burned up! At the time was glad to see it go.
The grader is one of my most favorite pieces of equipment this is perfect for driveways and small roads. Great job!
I bet this guy has the smoothest driveway anybody has ever seen!! That is quite a creation you made, very cool!
That's a great way to put the high spots in the low spots.
This should be sold to a manufacturer. It would b great taking care of your own driveway. Maybe a landscape contractor could use for grading out small areas, etc.
Superb and from what I can see, completely flawless build ...in a word WOW!
You sir, are the man!!! Your work is fantastic!!!
Spectacular friend. Congratulations👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤.Like
Thank you very much
Lol this is awesome. I've run many graders and always wanted a small one for my 1/4 mile gravel driveway. That sir would be perfect! On big graders the front chevron tires are run opposite way of back normally. I was always learned it helps keep the fronts from wanting to slide out.
Pretty cool, I would of never thought of doing something like this. And a very clean job doing it.
Simply fantastic, my father always told me one mans junk is another mans invention... well done!!!
You sir... you piss me off !! I can only wish for having enough spare time when I retire to build cool stuff like this !!!! Love the garage door opener on the grader "sorry honey, your car is going to have to stay outside".
This is cool. I would definitely like to see the building of this awesome machine. Nice work, Thank you for sharing!
It also have 4 lamps in front and 2 lamps rear. How easy to work even on evenings. Amazing.
You are incredibly skilled !
I was surprised to see it actually cutting and not just scraping the top. The attention to detail on your workmanship is nothing short of spectacular! I don't have time to read all the comments, but surly someone has already recommended you patent your design before the concept of a mini-grader is copied by a large manufacturer. Doing so and then selling your patent would have yourself sitting pretty nicely financially.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Good job!
Lee boy and champion have made minis for a long time.
Lol so cool. I would be grading every piece of land I could get to. I would put in driveways for free. An amazing machine
Very, very nice. You did a great job of making something really useful out of old equipment. I suspect you enjoyed the heck out of your efforts and now you can keep the driveway in shape year round.
Amazing!! Very nice and great craftsmanship!!
I think this great and shows others to use their talents and imaginations and anything is possible. Only part that has me scratching my head is the mower hood with the headlights pointing out back. Thanks for sharing.
You have to backup sooner or later and bright lights help at night.
I believe that was the front of the original tractor
@@prairiecracker214 it probably was
Very nice build.ive been wanting to do this for a couple of yrs now. Still collecting materials. Thanks for sharing
Top shelf! Nicely done, really admire the workmanship and the idea! Thanks for posting
Very nice. The best home built I have seen yet.
What a great build, I don’t know if this person lives in a snow area but a detachable front plow for snow removal would be cool.
That is awesome! I bet that would get a lot of attention at engine/tractor shows!
That's amazing craftsmanship. I'd be very proud of it.
A very excellent display of your ingenuity and machine skills. Top of the day to you Sir.
This has to be the best build I have saw in a long time. My hats off to you sir you are a talented man.
This is the end goal of having mountains of tools and access to the internet.
Edit: OK but that forested driveway is what I'm actually loving though. Beautiful.
holy cow how cool! i would LOVE to see a full build start to finish.
Wow wow wow very impressive great fabrication
I love this. I think I've watched this video and build 20 times since it's posted.
Nice mini Grader 😍
That's a lovely machine, I would love to have one to take care of my driveway. Super work and it sure looks like the finish is in place also. Thumbs up.
That's a fine peice of work, Sir. Thanks for showing it off. Be well
That's incredible! Two thumbs up and great job.
Nice tractor power and awesome machinery in action, good job again bro 😀 😀
This thing is awesome! Great job! Nice fit and finish!
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? Excellent build Kind Sir!👍
I would never have thought to build a grader, but I like how your brain works. Great job.
Best gift for my children
Awesome! When I got a sub-compact Kubota, bucket, yard rake, landscape box and auger, all the neighbors were asking favors.
This would be awesome for repairing my log roads. Awesome job on building it.
Beautiful little machine.👍😊
Great way to maintain a long right of way, driveway . Choice one
When mom says your grounded but dad says you can still go out in the garage.
Outstanding! Excellent machine.
I like to consider myself a fair to middling fabricator. But I got nothing on this guy! I am also a JD guy. But this is SO freaking cool! Love it!
this is 100% the coolest garden type machine ive ever seen
I didn't know how much I wanted one of these until just now this thing is absolutely amazing!
Excellent work! A+ on design, construction and appearance.
I wish I could do as well.
I will offer one tip from a guy who spent most of his career in farming, logging and heavy construction. If you ever intend to use it in muddy, icy or snowy conditions you'll have better steerage and control if you swap the front tires side to side so that the tread chevrons run backwards.
Those tires are designed to be used on powered axles. They will skid when pushed in the normal typical tread direction. If you turn them around they will bite in.
Your Grader and Bulldozer are absolutely BADASS!
He has a dozer too? I need to know this person
This was the best video that you have ever posted that looked good to me 😊😊😊
I never knew I needed one until now... Awesome build
That's just great! Good job on the build!
Hats off to you sir. That looks really freaking good.
Now that’s a beautiful rig
Nice job building it , looks very good and works great too .
Spectacular machine my friend, very well thought out and great attention to detail
Ok that’s COOL AF I need one for my driveway. That guy is awesome
Good looking machine! I saw one like it outside of Goldsboro North Carolina about 10’yrs ago. The owner had a track set up for lawn mower tractor pulling and made one of these to maintain the track surface. He said he couldn’t find one in the size he wanted so he built his own. It had all the hydraulic functions of a full size grader but cut down to scale. Powered by a 16hp k series Kohler left over from one of the pulling tractors.
This guy is just having the time of his life
Great Build Sir. Hats off
Now THIS is exactly what I've been looking for
I like how he placed the cab over the engine backwards from the Cub Cadet for back up lighting and the truck hitch as the frame for the blade. INGENIOUS.
Anyone else spot any other hidden Easter eggs?
Daaaang!!! I’ve got about a 1/4 mile of driveway to upkeep. I’ve been doing it with a tractor and box blade for years. Wish I had the mechanical ability to build one of these. Great job! Great video!
That’s an impressive build. Probably more hours in the design than in the manufacturing. Great job. I wish I had one for my 600 meter drive way.
Friend of mine built one.
I only saw 1 picture of it, but works awesome from what I've been told.
Very nice! I bet it plows snow pretty well too! Great work!
Operator here. That's a total badass machine you built
Impressive and practical
Excellent build !
Super cool! Looks like great work.
Amazing workmanship.
I’d make it my daily driver. Nice work man
My first thought, Wow! that is neat! Then the practical side of me said, its probably too small and light to actually work. Then I thought, I'll be darn! It does work! Nice job!
Yup .. need one. Awesome work!
I can’t say I’d ever have a reason to use it but I now know I want one. That is some damn good engineering there sir. You should show some video from under the hood and the hydraulic setup. I don’t think I’m the only one who would be interested in seeing more in depth. Edit. I’ve read some of the comments I’m definitely not 5he only one who would be interested in seeing more in depth of the build.
Wow , awesome build !!!
I WANT one. Absolutely magnificent.....
Neighbor: I just bought a DR grader
This guy: hold my beer
That Dr Grader is a joke. In 3 year, your road is going to be 1 feet deeper.
Whoever disliked this is just salty that they don’t have one
Amen to that. Dam..
Soo Salty👄
Agree.
Shit I'm salty I don't have one
@@jayscraggs405 I wish I had one but I'm not gonna be salty!
You can tell this guy was a legit grader operator by his passes.
LOL
My hat off to you Sir. A real nice machine for sure.
Now that is a slick little set up.... Bet it work great for moving snow
