I've watched Part 1 and am almost finished Part 2- I can't believe I haven't seen a WA Salvage ad yet or a Big Rock Toyota ad! Both these businesses made multiple memorable advertisements in WA for YEARS!!! I can still hear the catch phrase "WE'RE NOT FANCY, BUT WE CHEAP! EH!!!" 30 something years later like I just heard it earlier today
@@every1665 It is definitely March 1984. XF in it's second generation would have been the car advertised if it were '87 and the Fairmont Ghia would have included EFI & power door locks and windows STANDARD : )
Haha Laughing my head off here haha Dazzlers I remember that one. I notice the name written on the back of the Lotto postcard is Sir Cedric Hardwick of Jutland Parade, Dalkeith. It's as if the actors act as though they are acting and voiceover so verbatim.
@@Allangulon IGA, Inc. is an American chain of grocery stores that operates in more than 30 countries. Unlike the chain store business model, IGA operates as a franchise through stores that are owned separately from the brand. Many of these stores operate in small-town markets and belong to families that manage them. It was founded in the United States as the Independent Grocers Alliance in 1926. The headquarters is in Chicago, Illinois.
Plus "Govt & on road costs". Regardless, $9000 in 1984 is today's equalivent of $29000 (sourced from Inflation Tool) & that is A LOT of money for a boring old Toyota....
@@michaelminnikin4265 Toyota's were reliable and solid cars. Now not so much, built cheap and Hilux's have plenty of issues & Rav's, Corolla's and Camry's use oil.

Arnotts need to bring back those chocolate mousse cookies 😋
Recognised the Foodland straight away, it's Bentley IGA now.
The Independent Grocers Association was the entities legal name so they just used for all the stores!
thanks for posting this nostalgia
Love these old adds. Very similar to Sydney at the time. Oh, ohh razzamatazz
What?! No Naughty Don Rogers ads? He went mad with money but he'd be turning in his grave not getting a mention on a nostalgia site like this!
Cool to see again.👍
This is not 87. Probably 84 You got an XE Giha advertised. (Actually said 1984 when I was typing this.)
The ad for the fun run also mentions it to be 1984.

I wish Peters would bring back Trio ice cream!!
This is 100% MARCH 1984, not 1987.
Pablo instant, unarguably the worst ever sold commercially in Australia.
Anyone else miss TRIO icecream?!
Yeah, you had a choice of three different crappy flavours!
Pissing myself laughing
Didn't know Perth had Foodland. Thought that was an SA thing.
All got amalgamated into IGA's.
Jeezuz! Two kilo cheese for $2.99! Where's my time machine?
I think the year was actually 1984 ;) Sunday April the 8th would make the year 1984.

'Big Breasted' chicken. lol
They usually involved some drongo or other yelling shit.
1:11 Damn!!
No local used car dealer trying to sell a dodgy Toyota.
What ???? Cold Power $2 a kilo !!!
$5.04 in today's money
$9000 for a new Toyota.
