As a flight school owner I feel I need to say that this instructors demeanor, professionalism, and knowledge in teaching techniques is fantastic. I would put him on staff immediately! Well done!
Thank you for the compliment - if you ever get into helicopter flight training at EFI, get in touch.
Dave, I completely agree.... He's calm, yet assertive when required. Gives the student some moral boosting info when required, to keep them focused. Fantastic job.
The more I see of his footage, the more I want to be taught by him.
Dave Sowards where are you located
The instructor's accent is an interesting mix of British and American. Cool video
Thank you! Yep middle-English accent with a few years living in the US
How I miss this. A fixed wing guy myself but just watching and listening to this circuit work gets me excited. What great memories :)
The instructor seems really professional.
Thank you!
Yes indeed!
A GREAT instructor! There is a dozen things at the same time, with several hours more and more, the better you get.
Kid is dying to grab that cyclic!!! LOL
He had enthusiasm
Very good instruction. Enjoy your training all!! Flying helicopters professionally is a very rewarding career.=)
Thank you!
Love how I forgot my own first approaches. Now I can do this blindfolded (not really). Then I was sweating bullets. Love it :)
Thank you very much. Appreciate the feedback. Best of luck with your training - stay in touch.
This video maybe 10 yrs old but it is good as GOLD.....makes me really want to fly helicopters 😊
Thank you so much! Go try a demo flight!
This is one of the BEST instruction videos I have viewed so far. Thanks for posting!
Thank you!
I think I have found my love flying. I have subscribed I got goose bumps just watching.
That is fantastic! I wish you all the best making it happen!
Hope you got money.
Helicopter Training Videos I'm 15 and I'm thinking of becoming a helicopter pilot, what do I need to do to get my license (When I'm older)?

Helicopter Training Videos great, thank you
Clear and deliberate instructions. I used to train people in the operation of mining dump trucks, have good comms for learner's. Thank you.
Thank you for the compliments.
good luck to all future aircraft pilots, sky's the limit!!!
Dont say the sky's the limit when there's boot prints on the moon. :D
contrary to what it sounds, it actually means that there is no limit, the person can achieve anything he puts his mind to, the sky the universe is infinite
NIGHT2PWN Yeah, I understand the metaphor, I was just replying with a common metaphor saying that the sky is not actually the limit, and that you can go beyond it. Didn't mean any offense or disrepect. :)
ahaha i see, well you are right, and neither do i friend
Highly impressed with your training style Jay!
Many thanks for the compliment.
thanks so much for doing these videos. best training video I've seen so far. good job.
Whoever is the instructor, I would love to have you! The student, you are amazing! This really is a very good good video guys! Many props!
Thank you very much
i can tell that is definitely your first lesson, but you actually did exceptionally well for a first lesson!
What an amazing experience, riding a helicopter.
Identify by sight - a quick glance is all.
Usually only downwind at a towered airport, but they will specify when to report.
All the best with your training & please keep us posted on your progress!
Notice the instructor even times his commands a little in advance to give the student time to react before he (the instructor) steps in to compensate/correct. The professionals make it look easy, but this video shows just how much a pilot has to pay attention to. It's non-stop. Great upload, thank you for giving us a glimpse, and good luck to the student!
Hey thanks very much for the kind words.
@@HelicopterTrainingVideos anytime, and Happy New Year.

Thank you!
Bravo, I enjoyed that very much! You're very patient, calm and deliver your directives very well. Well done Sir.
Thank you
Thanks for posting all of these. I'm doing my first full hour lesson tomorrow morning, and I'm a little nervous. These videos help me to not overthink it.
So how it was?
You're very welcome! How did it go?
@HelicopterTrainingVideos It went very well! My CFI even complimented me at the end! Waiting on my medical now (stupid ADHD) and I'm hoping to be back to it full time this fall/summer!
@@andylikesyourkite use the time to study up and get ahead on the ground training and reading
@HelicopterTrainingVideos Thanks for the tip! I got some books that were recommended to me, "Cyclic and Collective," "Helicopter Flying Handbook," and "Fatal Traps for Helicopter Pilots."
Excellent instructor, very patient and encouraging 👍
Thank you so much!
Very good video, excellent instructor, and the student did really well.
Man I freak out when my wife drives a car I can't imagine handing over the controls to a person in training!
Great Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (google it)? It is a good exclusive guide for how to get pilot license minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my GF after many years got great success with it.

Ive heard some amazing things about it and my old buddy Taylor after a lifetime of fighting got excellent results with it.
Jus let her have a shot 😂
Ok now I got the experience.. Now I need the helicopter

What an excellent instructor, calm and explains everything clearly
Keep up the great work sir
Thank you so much - I love instructing.

Great flying by the student and radio callouts
Yeah he did well
I am not a helicopter pilot but have PPL for SEL (Cessna 172). Very impressed with CFI in this video. Very conducive atmosphere for learning, lots of good verbal instruction and makes it fun. If I lived in Bend would be at your FBO with checkbook. Keaton, I think you are a natural. Keep up the good work my friend.
I start at Embry Riddle in two months! LOVE THESE VIDEOS!
Keep us posted of your progress!
This video is so well done (chapters shortcuts included!) i gotto try doing these moves on X-plane after watching these circuits for so long :) Never realized how close it is to airplane, as far as the glidepath is concerned for these "glide & goe-s"
I can do that while drinking coffee
(in Flight Simulator X)
LOL
I LOVE this video - thank you for sharing your first lesson with us!
You are very welcome. I hope it gives others inspiration to try flying.
Awesome video, watched the whole thing : ).
Very nice training! Congrats!
Great video! If this was your first flight very nicely done.
Amazing video I feel like I just had my first flight lesson..that was freaking awesome
:-)
Great instructor!
Excellent instruction technique. I enjoyed this video immensely.
Thank you!
rotor brakes? I didn't know rotor blades HAD brakes!
well, well, well, you learn something new everyday
Very informative video! Great picture quality too.
good to see what im getting my self in to
How is your flying going?
Great video, thank you.
Great vid! And I really like you are able to see pedal movement.
Great video! Even more excited to meet with the flight instructor this weekend to get more info on taking a flight course to get a helicopter licence! You sound and look like a great instructor and this gives great idea of what I hope to expect if I decide to go through with the course! Very much looking forward to this! Thanks again for sharing!!!
So how did the flight training go? Are you still flying?
Great video, great teacher, great student, Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
Job well done. thanks ... i'm scared of heights.
Thanks! Me too (on high ladders) - but it is different!
Watta great teacher.
Hey thank you sir!
Excellent footage of a well done training session in the agile little bird that is the Robinson R22!🚁
Thanks for sharing & greetings from the Norwegian South West Coast! 👍 🏆 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Keaton had about 10 hrs experience from a few years back in a 300C, this was his first training flight with me and in an R22.
Fantastic instruction and well done student. I was with you taking the control with you al the way. Thanks.Hope to fly a heli some day too.

Thank you. Have you made it happen yet?
" BEND ! " lol - nice job and thanks for the videos!
You are welcome! Are you in Bend?
Great video.. I was smiling to whole time.. the pilot forgot to go weeeeeee..on the tight turns.. Jim W
LOL
Awesome teaching techniques and very professional. God bless
Thank you!
Less than halfway through the video... and I think I’m ready for “real life GTA”, lol
Joking aside... I’d say this student showed noticeable improvement already on the second time around the pattern.
He was a quick learner for sure.
I feel like I'm ready this was so good
Thank you!
Super cool to realize at the beginning that this is just a few miles away here.
Wonderful Central Oregon!
Brilliant video
I'm actually enjoying this ! I think I can fly away
Firstly that is the best piece of instruction I have ever come across so hats off to you, I was so into it I only realised the clip was soo long was I got to like 47 minutes. Secondly at the end you had to wait for temp to come down, why is that? if you don't wait what happens? I have come across other videos where the pilots just switch off and out the door in few?
Thank you.
I have been told from mechanics it can lead to engine issues like a sticky valve.
Thank you for this detailed video, very nice to watch what control does what.
I'm no pilot but if I asked myself the question "to be or not to be", then this video would pull me across the line in becoming one.
best thing i ever done was save up and start my pilot course
Book a discovery flight!
My left ear loves this.
I know - the early GoPro output was mono & I uploaded without converting to stereo - sorry :-(
You make me want to fly...... Very calm but assertive. You remind me of that other Florida local, Mr Kermit...
LOL Kermit? Did you fly?
great vid
Great video 👍
Thanks!
Nice video - like it!
Really well done young man
He did great!
Impressive teaching skills! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you!
Awesome job man!
great video simple and strait forward
Thank you
Very interesting and instructive video, strange reverb sound though, but from a heli, cannot be like with a living room stereo, of course.
This fellows coms are pretty good for a rookie.
Yeah he was a natural
Sounds OKAY to me!!
I would like to start for my helicopter training asap .this is marvellous.
Thanks - did you start?
He is so good on the radio
Yeah that comes from lots of practice between flights and listening to the radio. You can do the same at home on your phone/computer using Live ATC - www.liveatc.net
Thanks for your reply- my instructor is great yet she doesn't want me filming my flights any more- I was finding the videos very helpful which sucks not to have them to review..trying to persuade her otherwise..ps- I'm also a fellow Brit living in the US..
I have been inspired by your videos to become a pilot someday.Maybe ill be stationed in SFO or LAX,whichevers best.Anyway, awesome vid!!😊
great job1
Excellent video - very helpful to see this for sim flying and to know how to calibrate the controls.
Hey Peter, glad to have helped. Your project is fantastic! It stirred some great, forgotten memories as I skimmed over some of your content. I am curious - what is your favorite Helicopter sim?
@@HelicopterTrainingVideos Thank you!
All time favourite is Enemy Engaged Comanche vs. Hokum
www.migman.com/sw/enemy-engaged-comanche-hokum
Currently enjoying Take on Helicopters
www.migman.com/sw/take-on-helicopters/articles.php
@@FlightSimMuseum Yep I remember both of those. I played Take On after I started flying the real thing and can tell you it is harder to fly the sim!
@@HelicopterTrainingVideos Oh boy, that is great feedback, thanks! I thought the sim's lack of cues in the inner ear (acceleration & orientation) must make it harder to do the basics, great to have confirmation.
awesome instruction Jay-thanks for your great videos-recently started my R22 training (can see some vids on my channel)-started pattern work in a class D airspace airport- regarding reaching to pull anything on the console and identifying- do you identify by sight (is it safe to look down) or by touch (not having to look down)? also do you make radio calls to ATC on cross wind, base and final at controlled airports also or is downwind only enough if 'cleared for the option'? Thanks!
Cool. Subscribed. Thinking of trying R22 from a fixed wing.
Did you do it?
Just flew my first helicopter today, instructor said I did great! I'm now considering going for my private license!
Let us know how it goes!
It looks so fun :D
Compared to this , driving lessons in Poland are a hardcore. ..
watching this fly before i go my first flying test
How did it go?
Great video
Thanks
That was fun!
Cool!
Wish I had such an instructor when I was learning fixed wing- Helios next :-)
Thank you for the compliment, I wish you all the best with your helicopter training.
Flying was my childhood fantasy, used to live in the military barracks
Have you tried flying a helicopter yet?
@@HelicopterTrainingVideos not yet, I've never had the opportunity. I was only raised in the barracks, my father used to serve in the military.

this is fantastic ♥️
Thank you very much!
Lovely video and very informative, Im off to X-plane to crash now :D ..so much more difficult in a sim cos you cant feel the aircraft.. Although this seems extremely difficult I imagine this to be less difficult in real life, if that makes sense.
Great video I am working on my fixed wing PPL great insight to the rotor world. kay
How is flying going?
I fly fixed wing aircraft. This looks much harder.. Good instructor.
Thank you! Try a discovery flight in a heli! Come to the dark side...
Cool - now i can fly a chopper
How did it go? ;-)
Very nice!!
Thank you.
Just noticed - was student doing a 'tan check' of his forearms at 2:58?
I have a question related to the "downdraft wind power" of a hovering helicopter.
There are wildfires all over the world every year. SOME structures are destroyed by those wildfires either because the fire crews can't get close enough to them before they catch fire, or the fires are so high and dangerous that nobody can even enter the area from the ground at all until the wind has died down or the fires have subsided.
My question is this:
How well could hovering helicopters put out fires before they get to be too high and fierce to fight?
Let's say that a group of helicopters (6-10) are brought in from across the regional area (TV news helicopters, military helicopters, chemical spraying helicopters, etc. etc. etc). They're instructed to travel to a specific area, arrange themselves into a line that's about 200 yards long, and just hover there waiting for the fire to reach them where they are.
Eventually there will be enough downdraft wind power to blow the fire back over the area that has already burned. Since the helicopters are hovering the fire CAN'T advance farther into untouched areas.
Even if individual helicopters hover over individual structures, the downdraft wind power coming from the moving rotors of the helicopter will prevent the fire from burning that structure.
Would that concept work if enough authorities were willing to try it?
r5t6y12
The purpose of the hovering helicopters would NOT BE to prevent the ground from catching fire. I used to think that all wildfires are bad. I have since been "educated" that they are good for various reasons.
But losing ANY STRUCTURES (most especially houses and barns) are not good.
My question is for the sake of letting the forest burn while saving EVERY STRUCTURE THAT EXISTS ANYWHERE.
Is that concept possible? I hope so. (8^)
r5t6y12
One video that can be watched to demonstrate my point is called "medic chopper spectacular landing" by The andersN.
That video shows exactly what I'm talking about. (except that any helicopter would stay above the building that the video is being filmed from rather than getting that close to the ground).
r5t6y12 Good idea, but I think the recirculation of the air would would probably spread embers and make things worse.
It looks like he was checking his muscles
I’m more than impressed. This kind of instruction is what I need. Will bienge all your videos. Good job, instructor. Where is your location?
Thanks Manny! I am in Bend Oregon, USA.
Very cool video....a like from me.
I watched your introduction to the controls of the Helicopter vid and was rather disappointed that you hadn’t watched it back and redone the bits where you made lots of errors. I was going to hit don’t recommend but thought I’d watch a few minutes of this. Your instructing style is most impressive, completely different to the tech vid - you’re in your element in this vid and it shows. I have flown with a few different instructors over the years (fixed wing) and the best ones are the ones who teach the way you do: calm, knowledgable, five steps ahead with clear situational awareness, clear in instruction 👍👍
Thank you for the comments. Could you give details on "made lots of errors" - I would never want to put out incorrect information.
Why don't you clarify the errors, you might prevent serious injuries, accident or mistakes to avoid. Your info really matters.
