    Market guru and ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala was our guest at the latest edition of ThePrint Off the Cuff. In conversation with Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta, he shared valuable tips for investors and gave insights into his style of investment.
    Jhunjhunwala said he was bullish on the Indian markets and was of the view that the best still lies ahead for the markets. This is the time to invest and not withdraw, according to him. He also had suggestions for Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ahead of the 1 February Union Budget. He proposed that the government should not raise taxes and be bold in its spending to revive growth. Jhunjhunwala was optimistic about the performance of state-owned banks going ahead, and forecast double digit growth for the Indian economy in the coming years.

    • @chandranshpandey1929
      @chandranshpandey1929 Před 3 lety +16

      @@0609Bhuwan NPA problem was created by banks and not RBI first clear that in you mind. RBI don't lend banks lend and it's the responsibility of banks to keep that in check when things go out of hands then RBI comes into picture. He was the one who started AQR (asset quality review) that exposed many banks and nbfc even after he left as governor.
      He took office in 2013 and was indicating problem of NPA in banks, new government came and he again indicated that to government which was forcing him to decrease more interest rates for more lending but he didn't decrease lending rates creating a less cash supply to banks and then to NBFC then only the bad practises of bad loans in NBFC came out in picture. If free cash was available that time many NBFC with corruption and bad lending practices would have passed under the nose.
      He also pointed out demonetisation as disaster and happen the same way destroying many businesses and also predicted 2 to 3 % gdp growth rate lost due to this and it happened eventually.
      Right now all the provisions made by banks are by products of his tough AQR.
      I still don't get better arguements from anybody who claim he created the NPA mess only blames.

    • @rakesht1626

    • @chandranshpandey1929
      @chandranshpandey1929 Před 3 lety +3

      @@rakesht1626 banks are responsible for NPA and not Upa1 or Upa2. When a loan is stop performing bank should have taken the call to mark them as NPA and not restructure them again again even knowing they ain't get any money from that loan. Just to keep showing profits in books bank kept showing that.
      If upa was the real problem then private bank must have also shown 25 percent gross NPA in their books that didn't happen and most private banks grown very big in that time when public bank showing huge NPA. So it's the bank who create these NPA. Ex yes bank most of the loans under modi tenure by yes bank came under NPA it's not modi fault but bank doing bad businesses lending money to those who already not paying other banks money.
      Rajan has submitted the detail report to the committee under murli manihar joshi. How corruption and bad businesses practice create NPA. He helped a lot these public banks to clean their books bec most industrial loans by pubic banks were given to same promoter again and again and Rajan wants bank to show losses aand accept their faults so that they can get out this vicious cycle.
      Right now all the public banks are well capitalised enough provisions are already made for losses.
