18:15 fun fact Anthony Hopkins is actually professionally trained with a whip that whip belonged to him and he was really extinguishing those candles with the whip
Zorro actually predates batman by two decades! He was created in 1919, while Batman was created in 1939! This movie really did a great job in character growth, these days, the hero instantly knows how to fight, in Mask Of Zorro, he had to start from the bottom!
Yup! Bruce Wayne actually went to see the OG Zorro movie the night his parents were killed and Zorro is what inspired him to fight crime.
FUN FACTS: Antonio Banderas did most of his own stunts with exception to galloping field scenes.
The Murrieta brothers, Three Finger Jack & Capt. Love were real-life people. However, their backstories are drastically different than the characters in the movie. Joaquin Murrieta is historically a controversial figure. He is considered the Mexican Robin hood & the inspiration for the character of Zorro. Capt. Love did put Three Finger Jack's hand & Joaquin Murrieta's head in mason jars for preservation purposes, not nefarious purposes
I'd like to know what Joaquin Murrieta would say if he knew that he inspired the character of Zorro, which then went on to inspire Batman, arguably the second-most recognizable superhero in the world after Superman.
Easily one of my favorite childhood movies growing up.
This is one of the first movies I can recall watching
Don't watch the sequel. If you want more good swashbuckling adventures though, this was up there with The Musketeer, The Man in the Iron Mask, and The Count of Monte Cristo.
What are you talking about? The sequel is good too. 😂
@@FR0STY668I was about to say the same.
The sequel was excellent
Dummy part two was real good also.
Part 2 isn't as good... but it's still worth a watch
The swordmaster for this film was Bob Anderson (Lord of the Rings, Empire Strikes Back), who once taught Errol Flynn. He said Antonio Banderas was the best natural fencer he had ever worked with.
And here we have the source material for Puss In Boots' mannerisms. Between Zorro and Puss, these are two of my favorite Antonio Banderas movie characters.
Interesting that you mentioned Batman. The movie Bruce Wayne saw In the theater, that his parent's would be later shot behind was the original Mask of Zoro. Zoro helped inspire Bruce to become Batman.
Specifically, it was the 1940s Mark of Zorro staring Tyrone Powers.
There was a time I could recall almost every move from the fight scenes in this movie, that should give ya a hint how many times I watched this movie
The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and this are some of my favorite adventure movies.
I’m Mexican American living in Cali, this movie came out when I was like 9 and it was my favorite movie of the year. He’s the inspiration for Batman, he’s Mexican, and the living LEGENDS Antonio Banderas and Anthony fucking Hopkins play 2 generations of the legendary hero. For Christmas in Chicago my aunt gave me the VHS and I watched that shit till it didn’t work anymore
He's one of the inspirations, Sherlock Holmes is another.
So love this movie!! One of Catherine Zetha Jones best roles in my opinion she played it with so much pasion and the chemistry she has with Antonio Banderas! Is so great and ofcourse Anthony Hopkins is a legend in everything he does!! Great reaction
Another good movie from Antonio Banderas is The 13th Warrior .
Loved this movie as a kid, and it holds up really well now. Still really enjoy it! So well cast and a solid plot of revenge, reunification, and legacy.
It's good to see you back on here again man! i never saw this one, but i had the sequels on DVD growing up, and they are something else!
Yay. This is such a great movie to react too. And so glad that you are 👊👍 I remember this movie, and just loving the balance between action and humor, and the natural transition between the two. It just felt fluid. Especially compared to some movies we have today, where the movie has to basically stop for a funny moment and tells you to laugh. Even if it feels out of place. It’s honestly a shame that Disney/Star Wars couldn’t have taken nites from this movie. Because they showed how to do a good ‘passing of the torch’ without having to trash what came before.
I don't know if it's one you would do on the channel or not but you should really watch the 1950s Mark Of Zorro. This is essentially a sequel to that movie and it's extremely well done
yeah, she was absolutely gorgeous
ZORRO was my superhero growing up in the 60's!
One of my favorites from when I was a little kid! My dad used to watch the old black and white Zorro television show with me, it was awesome.
Growing up watching this and reenacting it with my cousins is such a cherished memory
I was in love of Antonio Banderas for years after this movie. 😂😂❤
Classic film!
You would LOVE The Count of Monte Cristo
I would say that we need more movies/show of this heavily underrated hero but I’m also concerned, considering how modern media is, they’d F it up
Alot of people also think Lieutenant Aldo Raine in Inglorious Basterds was snorting coke as well, im pretty certain it is supposed to be snuff. It’s a type of tobacco that can be sniffed.
This was my first Antonio Banderas movie and it's still my favorite!
It's between this and Desperado for me..
One of my all time favorite movies! Glad you enjoyed it
This was really good. Better than what I expected
This is a great movie.
Fantastic movie!
Had a teen crush on catherine zeta jones when i first saw her in this movie in the 90s
I love this movie SO much!
Some of the best training montages I’ve ever seen
Great reaction! There's a direct sequel to this called The Legend of Zorro 👀
Put me in the mood to rewatch this classic
I remember going to see the sequel to this on the big screen and I think it’s better than the 1st one. I recommend it. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Antonio Banderas have such good chemistry as Elena and Alejandro. It’s a shame they only made 2. It’s the only Zorro movies I’ve seen, never seen any older ones or even the original. I’m not sure if there’s been any new versions of Zorro since these movies.
best life action zorro adaptation
I absolutely LOVE the training circle scenes. Hopkins's performance reminds me so much of his time as Abraham Van Helsing. Same wisdom, same skills, same swagger.
Glad to see you doing movies again. If i may make a suggestion, the movie "Unbroken" a true story during WW2. I think youd love it, wud love to see your take!
1:00 This was back when California was a part of the Spanish Empire before Mexico won it's independence. So Raphael is the governor appointed by the Spanish Crown.
My favorite movie when I was young
I hate it took so long to watch it
Alejandro “Only one question.”
CPT Love “Really? What is that?
Alejandro “How would you like your remains displayed?”
Awesome movie.... Three musketeers next !! The one with Kiefer Sutherland....90s one!
Defo watch the sequel
Antonio Banderas,Catherine Zeta Jones and Anthony Hobkins.
Great reaction ❤😊
Appreciate it!
Awesome reaction of my favorite superhero movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
I appreciate it
That rediculous barell on the revolver is a real thing, they have a stock you can attach and it was meant for a light 6 shot ....carbine i guesss you would call it so you can handle it from a horseback instead of a long rifle.
Aye Devin, were you ever in a video doing curls and some guy comes up and steals some kids plates of a barbell? I saw a video on twitter and I swear the guy looks exactly like you.
Diego and Alejandro’s Zorro Outfits are actually VERY different when you look closely. Diego’s reflects his Spanish Heritage (Metal Clasp, European style Hat, Gloves that Flare out, and Heeled Boots) while Alejandro’s reflects his Mexican Nationality (Open Shirt, Tribal Design on the Hat, Thinner Gloves and Cowboy Stirrups on the Boots).
Sweet can’t wait until you react to the sequel
If you want to see a wacky, hilarious version watch *Zorro, The Gay Blade* starring George Hamilton. He also did a vampire comedy called *Love At First Bite.*
First Antonio Banderas movie I saw was *Never Talk To Strangers.*
Love this movie. Unrelated, but I hope you check out Hacksaw Ridge one of these days.
Devin g brother I edited your alien vs predator video and u didn't even check it out my G😂. Great content though
1:08 that’s like a powdered form of tobacco. They had a snuff box.
This is a good Zorro movie. There is a comical version called Zorro the Gay Blade you might find funny.
Damn good movie
You should watch Double Jeopardy
That wasn't cocaine, that was a pinch of snuff that he sniffed. It used to be a fashionable habit among the aristocracy.
Hope you check out the sequel.
44 Minutes The North Hollywood Shootout
There is two of these.
Watch hacksaw ridge
Dev… he wasn’t snorting cocaine lol … back in those days, you either smoked a pipe, a cigar or you snorted tobacco. Cigarettes weren’t really popular .
You like Antonio as an actor React to DESPERADO if it's not a 10/10 it won't be below an 8
OH NVM SEE YOU SEEN FINNA GO WATCH IT 😂
Great movie
Do you speak spanish dawg ???
Nah I don’t lol. I just talk fast
Até hoje esperando Tropa de Elite 2
Elite squad 2, go?
Zorro was one of the characters that influenced and inspired the creators of Batman.
10:29 she looks like your girlfriend Devin so XD
LOVE this movie. Now, Listen to me my brother, DO NOT watch the sequel. The Legend of Zorro. TRUST ME
I heard it sucked
It was AWFUL, the tone was completely different and also they made it into a kids movie, no joke@@deving9793
Honor thy mother and thy father is the 5th Commandment. Remember the Sabbath day and honor it and do no work or buying or selling, is the 4th Commandment.
Get your head out of your ass Hollywood.
Please try to never cut your reaction to show only movie scenes.
Movie scenes do it work without your reaction.
How such a epic film had the worst sequel ever I’ll never understand
skip part two, in fact dont bother with part two -___
Back when movies were all practical effects based 🥲 just look at that final explosion for godsake!
