  • What are the foods to avoid during pregnancy and what should you eat more of when you are pregnant. Because while losing weight while pregnant isn't good, you also need to be careful about not gaining too much weight. Food for pregnant women is mainly the same as if you were not pregnant, but there are definitely some modifications you need to be making and there are some foods you absolutely should avoid. I'll talk about how much you should dry to consume, how much weight gain is normal and at the end of the video, I'll share what I think is THE superfood for your pregnancy.

    Stay away from white carbs

    DHA: eat such as shrimp and mercy low fish
    Saturated fats: stay away from: sausage cake butter
    Hysteria idk how to spell: heat turkey meat and eash garden vegetables.
    Don't eat unpasteurized cheese/ blue
    Caffeine: moderation
    No alcohol
    Talk to OBGYN about meds
    Super foods: avocados

    I’m from India we cook different types of lentils on daily basis . Vegetarian Indian home made food consists everything we need during our pregnancy. I’m in my first trimester . Love from India to all moms expecting.❤️

      Hi there! I’m about 5 weeks in. I’ve been super hungry, too, but as long as you’re eating small meals, you can have healthy snacks in between meals when you get hungry! Almond butter on an apple slice with chia seeds on top is a really good snack! If you’re like me, you can also munch on sardines with lime, salt, and hot sauce! Very good for you and baby!

      aww I'm so happy for you. I just had a miscarriage 5weeks ago, finding out at my 12week scan that my baby stopped growing at 9 weeks. 😢. I was heartbroken.ive had children previously and never experienced this.

I would speak to your dr just to confirm when would be safe for you but so far I’m now 17 weeks and baby is healthy. My baby I lost due date was two weeks ago which was hard to deal with and all the emotions you go through are valid 💖

    Khichuri ( rice and lentils)
    Put your lentils(100gms) in water for half an hour, then wash the rice(200gms) and those lentils.
    Hot oil~fry chopped onions, chopped garlic, ginger paste, salt, green chilli~ after stir in a little bit ~ put those rice and lentils~ stir them well for a while~ put small amount of water to boil.
    Now enjoy with an omelet.

    First trimester. I'm 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow.
    We had been trying scine 2019 and kind of given up on getting pregnant. I was 9 days late when I decided to take a test. I was expecting it to be negative as that's all I've ever gotten. I was very shocked when it instantly turned positive.

      If you are RH negative then your doctor is supposed to give you a RhoGAM shot to prevent your immune system from attacking the baby if the baby is from an RH positive father

    Being a French person, cooking lentils is one of my to go dinner when I'm lazy. First, you wash them throughly in cold water. Then you put it in a pot with clean cold water. The water should be a centimer above you lentils level. Make sure not to put to much lentils in the pot, it "swells" when cooked. Now put a whole (not chopped) onion in the pot and put 2 cloves in the onion. Add some laurel leaves (1 or two depending on the amount of lentils and to your taste). Cook on low heat until tender. Add sea salt at the end. If there's not enough water, add some and drain when cooked. You can eat it with smoked sausages or normal or vegan sausages. You can let it cool down and make a salad out of it adding tomatoes and cucumber for exemple. That's the easiest way to cook it. Otherwise, you can make a curry out of it, cooking it with coconut milk and curry paste. xx

      it's good and healthy. Takes a little bit of time to cook though (around 30/40 minutes). But it doesn't need much attention. Tell me if you ever try to cook and taste some !

    i just found out im positively pregnant just 2 days ago. way to go me. drank alcohol and ate sashimi during new years celebration, flew back from vacation with diarrhea and almost passing out at the airport, took sugary electrolyte to recover and did really pass out on the drive back home. now, having the big dilemma since ive never liked eating avocado since childhood 😂 ohh the joys of being pregnant.

    This is the best video I’ve found on this. You’re very clear about this and go into detail about certain things I’ve been interested in. It’s been difficult to let go of certain foods but the fact that you stated pregnant women are 20x more likely to develop infections made me finally come to terms with letting them all go right now. I always like to know the why. Thanks ☺️

    I started out my pregnancy trying to eat healthy, but my morning sickness was triggered by fruit, even fruit flavoured things and drinks. I ended up in hospital with HG, unable to eat or drink anything, on an IV only for 10 days. Now I'm in my 3rd trimester and I still can't handle fruit, even though it tastes so nice to me.

    This was great information and entertaining 😝 I am 36 weeks pregnant (getting so excited 🥰🥰) and I have tried to be super mindful of making healthier food choices. I have always loved whole grains and veggies. We are big meat eaters too. I think a big one for me was eating more variety. I tend to just stick with foods I enjoy. I am trying to switch it up a little more with different vegetables/fruit etc.
    During this pregnancy a staple "craving" or just a food I have wanted to consume every single day would be dairy & bananas. I have always had a little milk and cheese here and there. But after around 5 weeks pregnant I brought a high protien natural greek yoghurt to have every morning. And also just a regular supermarket block of cheese for snacks. And I am STILL eating at least 2 bananas a day 😳😅
    Another "craving" that I have been experiencing since around 32 weeks is lots of healthy fats. I've been wanting to eat wayyy more avocado, tahini, walnuts and oily fish. Which I enjoy. Walnuts are my FAVOURITE at the moment. So I am just listening to my body and trying to make healthy food choices for myself & bubby based on what I currently feel like in that moment. Sometimes its hard not to eat half a tub of icecream! But thats when I stop myself (due to not wanting a sugar headache later on) and reach for some fruit and yoghurt or glass of milk!

    Lentils are so fabulous! When my husband and I went vegan for a hot minute they were a big thing that I used. 😆 Usually I just follow instructions on the back to cook them?
    However I usually put them in soups or mixed with taco season as a base for taco anything instead of meat 🤷‍♀️

    7 weeks pregnant. we had to terminate my first pregnancy at 22 weeks last year cuz of the complications to the baby. It was so traumatic. We are blessed to get pregnant again and this time hopefully everything turns out well. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

    Yay for lentils! My favorite way to incorporate more lentils in my diet is to just add them in any time I'm making rice with a meal ...usually I will just switch half of the amount of rice I'm using for lentils or quinoa (I prefer lentils and rice with Mexican or Middle Eastern cuisine and quinoa with East Asian cuisine)
    I also like adding lentils to soups

    I am on my third semester, 29 weeks. I had Vit D deficiency. I took vit D supplements every day. But I think one food source that helped me to recover from it is spinach. I have two meals of spinach weekly. Plus broccoli, green beans, chicken, pork, eggs, and salmon. For fruits, I consume one banana and apple daily. For milk, I opt to almond milk unsweetened.

      Unfortunately what she is saying is all wrong. Read Real Food for Pregnancy by Lily Nichols. She didn’t mention a single animal source for folate, how about eggs. Doesn’t mention that you should be taking a methyl-folate, not folic acid. If you have the MTHFR mutation, which you wouldn’t know without genetic testing, your body won’t be able to convert folic acid. Recommending processed grains like whole wheat. Not understanding the most up to date data on saturated fat and cholesterol. Wonder if she knows that even the AHA stopped using LDL as a marker for cardiovascular issues in 2013.

    Hello! Thanks for the information, I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with my first!
    As for lentils, I love making these dishes. They are so healthy and a good source of protein! Lentils in general are famous in the Middle East, it’s called “the meat of the poor” because it is high in protein and more affordable than most meat options!

    The brown colored lentils are boiled for 15ish minutes (until they are not hard and are eatable) then I drain them and and cook them again with rice (can use any rice you like) add the amount of water you would add to cook rice with salt and extra virgin olive oil(the more olive oil you use the better). For the topping you can make caramelized onion. For a side dish make a salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, parsley, all chopped small with fresh lemon juice and a pinch of salt).

    As for red lentils, I love to make soup. I first wash and let them set for at least one hour (this makes them cool faster) I wash them multiple times. In a pan I add chopped onions with some extra virgin olive oil and fresh chopped garlic. Then add the washed lentils and stir together for about 10 minutes. Add water and some chicken broth spices, some coriander and salt). Cook until the lentils are almost dissolved. You can make it extra smooth by using a hand blender. Once cooked to your desire, add fresh lemon juice. You can have a side dish of white onion or green onion or pickles or bread or you can have all of them!

    Hello I love your vids! I'm 17 weeks and 3 days so my 2 trimester. My eating is just coming back. My morning sickness was 24/7 and my hole 1st trimester and a few weeks of my 2nd. This is my first pregnancy so I'm trying to learn everything I can. I took early childhood education in school and was a teacher's aid to months to 5 yr olds. So I know some things but I feel like I can never learn enough about our body n baby.

    I’ve been craving hot spicy chips . I have been opting for healthy cheese puffs instead and only eating it once every two weeks as a snack . It’s hard not to give into cravings but making a healthy alternative helps .

    I’ll start off by saying that I am a new listener and I absolutely adore you Diana! I am 11 weeks pregnant with our first baby after trying for 7 years. We just had our fist ultrasound last week and baby is growing perfectly and heartbeat is strong😊 for the last four days I have had a debilitating headache so pretty much been laying in a dark room with a cool cloth for days. SO, I had my first cup of black coffee in the attempt of lightening this and it actually did help. I also took my bp at home which was normal. I of course called my OB after the weekend and they are closed for an office party so I will be calling again tomorrow but I was wondering if you cover this on your channel? If not, I would love to know your take or if anyone else has experienced anything like this? Thank you and your channel rocks!!

    It's so easy to cook lentils. Just saute with olive oil and chopped onion for few minutes, then add water, chicken, beef or vegetable broth. Let it cook until tender. Add salt, cumin power and any other seasoning you might like, but make sure to add the cumin because it help prevent bloating and gases. I add chopped chard and or chopped spinach to this soup for more nutrition and it actually complement the flavor. Some people add carrots and potatoes. It's up to you.
    I sometimes saute fresh chopped garlic and chapped cilantro in olive oil and add it to this soup at the end.
    To eat it, you can serve it with homemade bread/sumaq crotons.
    I like my soup on the liquidy side, not too thick. So, for 1 cup of dried and washed lentils, I use about 5 cups of liquid. Some of that liquid evaporates during cooking. The amount of spinach and Chard can be determined by you based on your preference. Play with the ingredients to see which ones work for you.
    Tip: in the middle east, we sometimes add fresh dough, pasta sheets like to this dish. You could also add any type of small pasta to it halfway during cooking, maybe after adding the spinach and or Chard.

    Thank you for all the great content you put together for this community. I've been watching your channel since I found out about my 3rd pregnancy. Baby girl was born 6/13/22, 8lbs 3oz and 20in long. I was 40 weeks 5 days. We weren't sure if I'd be able to be at the Birth Center in our town, which was one of my biggest goals with this pregnancy. Labor just wasn't starting on it's own. However, my team of midwives decided based on my previous pregnancies, the health of this current baby and the fact that my water has never broken naturally, but once it has been broken I give birth quickly, they would let me have my water broken at the Birth Center with the understanding that if no progress was made in a couple hours they'd transfer me to the hospital. Within 3 hours I had my baby in my arms.

    I’m 10 weeks pregnant and this video helped a LOT!
    I’m having twins and the nausea makes it hard to eat certain things, like water. I read about the small frequent sips but for some reason water triggers my nausea. Which is weird since normally I drink lots of water, but it seems that now that I need it the most I can’t keep it down.

    Oh I LOVE lentils so I got so excited to hear you say they are rich in folate 😂 they’re so easy to cook - great in curry, soups; my fave way to cook them is to simply give them a wash, soak them whilst I prep my other ingredients, and then add them to whatever I’m making. 😍😍😍

      @@jmiey mostly not, only gets a bit uncomfortable when baby squishes into your internal organs, like bladder/kidneys and stuff. But it's mostly uncomfortable, it's more amusing then anything watching your whole belly shift from one side to the other
