    In this video I’ll be showing you what I did to weather the Hasbro Pulse LO-LA59 (LOLA) animatronic from the Kenobi series to make it more screen accurate. I love weathered droids, as most things in the Star Wars universe, droids should have a some weathering!

    Thanks for the great tutorial! My fiancé and I just found these at Target for $35! Huge post-holiday discount. For that price it’s a no brainer. Side note: Adam Savage did a teardown video for Lola on his Tested channel and the mechanics are honestly just astounding. Amazing feat of toy engineering - check it out if you haven’t already! Happy crafting y’all

    A little dish soap in your wash really helps it run and find the cracks on its own.

    5:28 - Believe me, making something look rough is insanely nerve wracking the first time you do it. I did a voyage on the Starcruiser where I was a mechanic with this jumpsuit. I got a great looking menchaics overalls, put star wars badges and greeblies on it and spent a great deal of time getting it looking JUUUUUUST right. And then I got to destroy it! Its a mechanic jumpsuit! If it were prestine, it wouldnt look right. So I wore the fabric around the buttons with sandpaper, I took a lighter to a couple of flaps and zippers, and splattered it with acrylic paint.
    Hardest thing I ever did, but it looks GREAT!

    I bought 2... one for the wife and one for me. I want mine more of an Imperial Looking droid however... what would you use to paint the red to say a dark gray color instead? Spray paint then some sort of top coat?
    Thanks for any thoughts.

    • @StarWarsReplicas
      @StarWarsReplicas  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah just mask the white with painter’s tape and a regular rattle can should do the trick. I always hit anything I spray paint with light “wet sanding” to give it a slight metallic shine

    • @bobafett4ever
      @bobafett4ever Před 6 měsíci

      @@StarWarsReplicas Thanks for the response. As I'm new to this, do you do the wet sanding prior to the spray painting, or after? Would you use 800 grit, and literally just wet and gently rub down the red ring, which I want to turn to either gray or black?
      Thanks again!

    • @StarWarsReplicas
      @StarWarsReplicas  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@bobafett4ever after spray painting I usually do a very light wet sanding. 800-1000 grit should be good 👍🏼

    Thanks for this! One thing, I read up on rub n buff, and it's supposed to be permanent. You mention it comes right off, so I'm hesitant to use it. If I apply it, I wouldn't want it to come off when people touch it. You said chlorox wipes take it right off, just wanted to verify

    • @StarWarsReplicas
      @StarWarsReplicas  Před rokem

      It can be permanent if you really get in there and heat it up with friction. But it’s a wax so ultimately a solvent like alcohol will remove it
