There are a lot of expats like you who chose to raise and fight their chickens here in the philippines. How do you find your stay so far? Ours is far from a perfect country but the people here are generally accomodating and friendly. I wish you luck in all your endeavors here.

I got hooked on drugs. Got pulled over went to jail was detoxing. Got out the next day had to wear a drug patch. I was hurting; depressed lost my job and my wife was disappointed in me. But she told me that she knew I could beat it and get better. She looked at me and told me hunny just focus on your gamefowl and I’ll work and carry us. Cock fighting was the only thing that pulled me out of drugs. It’s been 3 years now I’ve been clean. I’ve got better gamefowl, my wife is still here. I just bought her a new car myself a new boat. We both got fantastic jobs paying are taxes! If not for game birds I’d be totally opposite. Thank you for carrying on gamefowl and saving my life thank you to all!

I have a very similar story ,if it weren't for game birds to focus on I would most likely be dead now. I got addicted to heroin and that's all I cared about every day all day for about 5 years. I stopped raising birds damn near destroyed my family exhausted all funds . one day I got arrested for possession my wife wanted to kill my ass because I had hid my addiction and lied to her to the point she was ready to pack her shit and leave.well that day I checked into detox got clean stuck with a program and needed an outlet to busy my mind busy..I still had all my equipment for raising birds got my money up and started over with 4 roosters and 8 hens.that was 5 years ago now and I haven't looked back .so a big thank you to my wife for sticking by me and reminding of my passion , and Johnny Jumper even though I never met him or Nathan personally for providing amazing birds ,this has got my life back on track and gave me a purpose again. Thank you for sharing your story and good luck on continuing your sobriety. Long live the game fowl heritage.

It's part of the cultures of south east asian peoples too. The spanish texts says that when they came here in the Philippines in 1521, natives were already fighting "big but unusally tamed cocks", those were the exact words of the writer Pigafetta.

As long as there are so many organizations for the protection of animals, eg. PETA, that do not know anything about the cockfighting and that they accuse the farmers of inducing them and training them to fight. And as long as they receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations, they will continue to enforce the criminalization of the cockfighting. Money talks.

If we came here to be free, times have dramatically changed. I believe they came with us probably on the "May Flower" if our original founders of this country raised and participated in this sport, why isn't it that there not considered a living monument like the Shamo are in Japan? The American game cock is beautiful and noble as well as brave. What a great animal he is!

Gamebirds & Gamedogs need to be brought back legal.. At least then, the scumbags and backyard breeders would have NO place in these animal's & they'd all have access to real vet care & everything else. In reality, it's the BEST choice FOR THE ANIMAL'S!!!!

how is cock fighting immoral when they get taken away they get put down. but before they get taken there treated like kings. gamefowl are warriors gladiators doing whats natural to them. we do much worse things to the livestock that we eat. we love our birds and its shown thrue the time and effort that we put into them some dogs get less attention and broiler chickens only get a few months to live and they throw baby roosters into grinders now thats immoral
