The coloration on these birds is gorgeous. It would be great to be able to impart the beauty of these birds for future generations without fear of being accused of illegal activity.
I am from the Philippines this animal Reproduction is part of my profession as an Agriculturist and I want to research about what appropriate laws for this certain hobby of our heritage since I come from a lineage of Farming community. Please allowed me to checked this proper practice of management. Thumbs Up Sir for this kind of Enthusiasts as part of Farming we call it Animal Industry connected to Economic purposes as Categorically Approved )animal husbandry. i was around it in the 90s there wasnt any drugs or anything. it was clean fun. something that got us out and running around. i was a teenager it got me rubbing shoulders with people of all ages i learned alot and met alot of great people.
A lot of people involved in the sport today give it a bad name. By making it illegal they’ve attracted all the low life scum bags. You can’t go to a derby now without seeing people act a complete fool and ruining the night.

got out of these. morgans more commonly come white legged, or families that are white and yellow. few come only yellow. halfwoods gamefarm took them over from me

Im from the Dominican Republic and i go to the cockpit all the time I'm over there, I'm not into cockfighting I'm mor into breading but when I'm in the DR I get invited from causing and even my wife, I fell it is in our blood for us Dominican, to go to the cockpit once a week.
I love game chickens and know that every bird who goes to the pit if given the choice of either going to the pit to fight for his life and the lives of his hens and offspring at 6 months old or older, or being hung by his feet and having his throat slit at 8 weeks old, would go for the chance to fight for his life when he is older and more mature. But somehow most people are not able to comprehend how that could possibly be true even for birds that are dead game by their own nature. Why is it impossible for them to comprehend something that is so totally obvious? Why??? Is there any way they could learn to comprehend that which is so totally obvious?
Why are there no perches in those pens? Why is there no shelter from rain in any part of the pens? Are there perches inside the drums at the end of the pens?
Wow nunca pense que fueran tantas restricciones. Yo criava mis gallitos desde pequeño y me encantaba ver los colores como cresian hasta que la abuela mia desidia ponerlos en el caso para comerlos. Hoy en dia me sigue este gusto por estos animalitos. Compre mi casita y e pensado comprar un pollito y creserlo es cucharlo cantar y verlo contento eso para mi es como terapia quisas por que los crie de muy pequeño pero viendo todas estas limitaciones es de pensarse .desafortunada mente estos animalitos no se pueden criar juntos y que no se aviolenten entre si. No culpo alas autoridades por todas estas restricciones ya que son basadas en experiencia de cituaciones con esto.preservar estos animalitos no nada varato el vitaminarlos en mi tiempos noera para pelerlos era mas para tenerlos fuertes y resistireran a las enfermedades como en los cambios de clima teniamos jeringuillas pera vacunarlos protegerlos. Y ahora todo eso se mal interpreta. Se rasuravan para el coruco . Se cortava la cresta para mejor reproducción al menos eso nos desian los viejitos que tenian estos animalitos hasta donde es verdadero pues no lo se solo son costumbres quiza. Bueno como todo ser racional tenemos que apegarnos a las reglas y respetar los convenios .comparto esto con respeto .

Any game fowl books u recommend???
Depends on the breeds that have your interest. There are books on Old English bantams, Books such as Oriental Gamefowl by Horst Schmudde, Kenny Troiano's got a few books on American Gamefowl as well as a podcast, There's an out of print trilogy called the Modern Cocker which was written dealing with the sporting aspect, but it also covers feeding, disease, breeder selection, pens, etc.

Depends on what your goals are. If you want to make money, sell what is desirable in your area. If you just like having them, then keep what makes you happy. I keep other breeds besides my game fowl because I like the variety.

The Federal Government ruled illegal in Puerto Rico. The problem is that gamefowl been here for decades if not more and now the birds are been sold for almost nothing or killed for meat and are very aggressive breeds by nature.

Why do you not provide perches?
Good question. One reason is I would not be able to put the perch high enough for the birds to have to use their wings when they come down to the ground. This causes all the impact of landing to affect just the leg joints, whereas a higher perch allows them to use their wings to soften the landing. The other reason is about the only way I can figure to put a perch in would be to run it across the pen through the wire. This would invite the birds to want to roost there at night instead of the barrel and would put them up close to the wire where predators could reach them.

Glad I live in the border and go to Mexico where we can still have this beautiful past time. Over here they wanted to prohibited game birds but they will never be able to.

Now I'm worried I got mine because coyotes keep killing my chickens and the gifted game fawl mix I had at the time protexted her chick from a eagle and fox.
I have a hatch game hen, I love her so much! I tell people I even have a "fighting chicken" but I educate. She's currently sitting on 2 surrogate eggs cus she's been broody for months now. She's a good broody, Doesnt peck but she's P8ssed im bothering her.

What happens to the birds when authorities confescate them?
it depends on the situation. Sometimes they "Adopt out" the birds, though that is usually only the females and young birds. The males are often euthanized on site prior to the trial or euthanized after taken to the "rescue" after being deemed "too abused for rehabilitation". Rarely they'll hold all the birds alive til the court case is settled and they are often cared for by people who are unfamiliar with the specific needs of this breed.

I don’t own any chickens but if people stop raising them they will become extinct , like a lot of other animals, all these animal activist who take chickens that are being taken care of very well, then kill them are a bunch of murdering hypocrites , If I was a chicken, I would like the chance to live two years and more if I win, than a eating chicken, 4 to 6 weeks in standing room only. I personally would love to have chickens if I was in the country, not the city !!!!!!! They are beautiful, smart, and can even be trained !!!! As for game chickens, true game chickens, they don’t have to be trained to fight, it’s breed in them and whoever owns should take proper precautions to keep the roosters separated, and accidents do happen and only real idiots who are looking for a reason to charge you would not realize this, it sounds like they are a bunch of corrupt people and again that steal properly cared for chickens then euthanize them!!!!!!!!!! They are the real criminals, period!!!!!
This is why you never keep birds & implements in one same spot. Always should keep them at someone else’s spot.

I have a claret hatch cross that has been with her brother and been with a law grey i found a tinted brown egg i pen today is. This normal
tinted brown eggs can happen in gamefowl. now if you start seeing blue or green I'd be worried.

Thank you. I do sell once in awhile, many others have inquired. Unfortunately things haven't worked in my favor this fall for getting things sold. With winter coming I may have to wait til spring.

This guy doesn't show birds. These birds aren't proven. He's just raises them in MN. He obtained it from Davymax in Redgranite, WI when David still had birds years ago. The law came after him for making too much noise online how good of his birds were back then got caught selling too undercover pigs. It was a big mess. You want good Morgan's there are respectable breeders out there has proven qaulity blood.

My birds want's to die a beautiful death in the pit rather than in edge of a kitchen knife. They get bored if they can't fight... I sometimes fought them without betting, only fools bet beyond resources.

Aquarium fish fight and kill/eat each other. Cats and dogs fight but you can own both, currently. Are there laws against this? Let roosters be roosters! I hear a two syllable bird call throughout the video that I haven’t heard before. Errr errrr!??? Wonder what it means? Predator call?
It can be a warning call. It’s a call that lets other chickens know that something’s up and there may be danger. My rooster does it all the time if he gets nervous. If he is alerting to an aerial predator he does a long drawn out scream, and an attack that is in action will have the typical squawking sound.
It may also be younger roosters trying to crow
