- There are 3 reading challenges that I'm going to be doing this year. if you would like to read any of the books that I'll be reading make sure you are following me on goodreads. I've set up lists where you can see all the books that I've picked.
1. A to Z reading challenge
-read 26 books and each book's title starts with a different letter in the alphabet.
I think this will be the easiest challenge for me to complete since I have all of the titles picked out already.
2. the 50 States reading challenge
-reading a book that represents each US state.
-The book should take place primarily in one particular state.
-Ideally, i would like to read a book that is from an author of that particular state.
-reading books by Indigenous, Black, and immigrant authors will be high priority.
3. reading a book from every country in the world
-for countries that have been colonized i want to make sure i prioritize Indigenous authors

Very interesting ideas! Are you planning on keeping the challenges completely separate? I would have thought you could tick off a lot of the states and the alphabet at the same time if you wanted to do it that way? But that might be cheating 😅
They’ll have their own “episodes” -I’ve already started the A to Z challenge! I hope for the read around the world one I can find some really unique graphic novels
Funny- I was thinking along the same lines for this year and planned to do something similar. I love the links you included for the reading around the world! I thought I would start that one with focusing on reading one book from each continent this year (minus Antarctica).
For Michigan, perhaps a lighter and easier read for this challenge but that still absolutely tells a lot about the real history and culture of Michigan and is also written by an author from Michigan is Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. You might have read it in school growing up! I also recently read November Girl that’s a sort of contemporary fantasy about Lake Superior which I think may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but the Great Lakes are so integral to Michigan and that is an amazing book that captures the beauty and terror of Lake Superior. I can’t figure out where the author, Lydia Kang, grew up though!

That Lake Superior book sounds FASCINATING
@@clowderlibrary I LOVED it. I have no idea how I even stumbled across it, but it was a five star read for me. Deals with very heavy real world topics like abuse, race, mental health, and self harm. But then has this very fun and also very intense and scary fantastical element because the November girl has only ever met one human before (all kinds of hilarious behavior ensues because of this), she’s literally the daughter of one of the most dangerous bodies of water in the world, and she doesn’t view death or nature the way many humans do. HIGHLY recommend!
