  • One of the things that I was the most excited about when we decided to come out to the UK is the easy access to the EU. Flying to Europe from the USA (especially the west coast) is always a tiresome journey so I am stoked that we can now simply jump on a quick flight. No more jet lag!! Jeff found an amazing deal on tickets to Greece so we took them! While we were gone my brother was taking care of Ted :)

Oh, I cannot tell you just how jealous I am. Greece is my favourite place on the planet and, between 2000 and 2010, I went there every year, and sometimes
twice! Everywhere you go you will be welcomed by the local cats (or furry con-artists) who are so anxious to make friends and then share any foods that
you may have to hand. The sun is far too strong for a pallid Saxon like me but the people are even warmer. Out of all the hundreds of Greeks that I met
during my travels there, only one or two were less than brilliant. I have so many happy memories to keep me going now that ill-health prevents me from
travelling abroad. Please keep up the flow of super videos because they're so entertaining.............................................the ancient Englishman.

The cats were definitely my favorite part about our trip. We saw soooo many 🥹. We went to Athens and while we were there we met a local man who was feeding a colony of them. We got to chatting with him about the cats and his life (he lived in London for 20 years and he is a historian) and it is now one of my favorite travel memories.

One tip... Don't call it a fanny pack when you're in the UK, it means a totally different thing.

Greece is good for a history enthusiasts like myself and they have sick beaches ofc. I went their on holiday twice as a kid. I couldn't live there mind you. It's way too dry for me. I'd miss the colours/nature of England

thats the thing we can just travel anywhere see so many different cultures, i could hop on a plane and be in germany in a few hours, or italy, or greece, and its not that expensive, its as if america doesnt want people moving, we have the trains, the buses the planes, opening everything up to new experiences

It’s really upsetting how much they land lock us with costs of travel. I am so jealous at the easy access that you all have for opportunities to learn about the world.

Hi Abbie & Jeff, Greece looks Idyllic but beware of Pegasuses swooping down on your Moussaka don't want you to go hungry again! Cheers Jim X

No Pegasuses this time, Jim :) But we did run into a Siren singing a song. Stay tuned !

Will you share the name of the restaurant where you had the salad? My niece is getting married in Santorini next May, so we will be going for the first time.

Hi Shelley. Let's see if my comment sticks this time. The place is called Platis, just outside of Emporio. It's a small family owned restaurant: goo.gl/maps/vYqGfPidyzb87JSC7

Yay my comments are actually showing up this time. A little more info: we found it just by chance. It was open late and right near our AirBnB so we checked it out. Very good food even though the restaurant looks a bit rugged. Very nice family that runs it.
Emporio is on the south east side of Santorini. My guess is that your niece is probably getting married somewhere in the north by Fira or Oia (both of which are beautiful). If this is your first time to Santorini and you are not near those 2 bigger towns, I would highly recommend renting a car, scooter, or quad to get around. The bus isn't very reliable :)

@@WVHSFootball thanks for the advice. She is getting married in the SW area, somewhere near Caldera Beach, but she’s staying in Oia. Not sure where we are staying yet.

DO NOT SAY FANNY PACK.. Please google this as fanny means something else here in the UK!!!

    • @clowderlibrary
      @clowderlibrary  Před rokem +1

We call it a fanny pack in the US and I will always call it that 😅

I googled the UK definition. Now I understand why we got a couple raised eyebrows at the train station after Abbie was talking about her pack :)
