  • Xbox consoles are DYING...
According to Tom Warren from the Verge, Xbox console sales are down 31% in Q3 over the same time last year. This is coming with the news that revenues are up for gaming content and service due to the acquisition of Activision and Blizzard. We are also seeing Satya Nadella bragging about being the number one publisher on PlayStation 5 in the current marketplace.
All of this is pointing towards Xbox being a third party publisher and ditching the hardware market, especially since the Xbox Series is trailing behind the Xbox One in lifetime sales. The question for now is... will Xbox make another console? Or will Xbox cease to be as a hardware platform and move solely to publishing game?

I unfortunately think that you're right. Once again Microsoft creates something really cool in the beginning, then when people like it, they begin half passing the whole thing, gets confused why people no longer like the product line and then just give up. Pathetic company. Used to be a big Microsoft fan, I've completely switched away from them due to their constant blunders and incredible ego. Fuck Microsoft.
    Zune
    Windows Phone
    Band
Surface RT (this one was just half baked from the start)
Cortana (could've been really cool, especially if they had an AI product like co-pilot and just called it Cortana and used it as a personal assistant, which I believe is the route Apple is going with Siri)
Xbox One (had a ton of cool features, I loved the idea of one box all of entertainment, but instead of just going hey btw it handles cable too and video calls and then focusing on games, they made it all about that crap and decided to try and let publishers determine if games can be exchanged)
I honestly think that had Microsoft rid of their ego in 2010, we could be looking at Microsoft acting as a major third place or even second place consumer market eco-system from Band, to Windows Phone, to Windows, to the Xbox. Complete integration kind of like how Apple has it.

Ego… I think that’s honestly the problem. It’s a vanity project. They just want to brag about their longevity and power of their hardware yet are in distant third place. They would make way more money if they went third party.

At least every console system actually felt like consoles with plenty of original IPS and sequels. NOT just remakes and remasters of the same shit.

100% deserved. I don't get how they could have been so moronic to think that they can constantly pull nonsense if they are in third place. Really they should have removed the monthly subscription to play online, they should should have removed that entire Windows 8 crap UI and reworked it form the ground Games like that Vampire one that was horrible should have been canned and whoever had the idea that your flagship FPS game (Halo) should have any microtransactions at all after its rough launch should have been banned to the shadow realm. ...Funny story, I got my first PS5 yesterday, the slim D-chassis one, and when I encountered that bug where the console was stuck on the pretty particle-filled screen with the soothing music after it updated its dualsense software for the first time, so I had to restart it, I had that question again, "Did I make a mistake by sticking with the playstation series? Should I have gone for Xbox?".
So... I guess I made the right choice in the end, even though I had to buy a Nacon controller because the placement of any playstation's controller's left analog stick wrecks my thumb?
I mean, the PS5 looks so cool both on the outside and within, my PS4 games look and feel incredible on the PS5, and holy sμιτ those quick loading times! I no longer have to sit and wait an hour for Red Redemption 2 and Bannerlord to load themselves up!
Not to mention that my Nacon unlimited controller works flawlessly on it!
There would also be Elden Lean, which, though it still has that issue with the pointless, buggy and poorly-designed mounted stance system that lets enemies frustratingly knock me off of Torrent a few hits, runs better than it ever did on the PS4, as if it were always meant for the PS5!
Looks like things related to the gaming industry went my way, for once after ages of being constantly disappointed by game developers almost everywhere!
Dare I write it, I think I'm 100% satisfied with the PS5! No irony, no joke, Sony did a great job with it!
Now, all Fromsoft has to do is fix their mounted stance system so that it actually won't get in the way of me fighting on Torrent and I'll declare that... Gaming-wise, I'm happy with what I've got.

Why do you think OEM windows sales went up PC gaming will take consoles over combined with tablets and phones. The younger gen doesn't care about consoles anymore. Exclusives are going to go away and Sony's money hatting isn't paying off for publishers.

"All of this is pointing towards Xbox being a third party publisher and ditching the hardware market, especially since the Xbox Series is trailing behind the Xbox One in lifetime sales."
No. It doesn't point towards that at all. Two things, first, console sales for all manufacturers for years have hit a ceiling of about 250 million units. Nintendo's Iwata and Fils-Aime have made that point since the early 2000s. If you add up the Xbox One and Series S|X, as well as PS4 and PS5 units, you'll notice we've already hit that ceiling. Xbox hardware isn't selling because everyone who wants an Xbox already has one, not because the hardware is unpopular. Xbox isn't worried however, because software and services is where the margins are.
Second, hardware is the main source of revenue for Xbox. I'm sure the Xbox execs would wish that most players simply played on Gamepass or PC, but unfortunately for them, most of their players use a console, which means that they'll continue to push hardware. Xbox is not going to become a third party publisher any time soon. Unless the software from non-console users starts exceeding console, they'll keep pushing console.

    • @DirectGamingYT
      @DirectGamingYT  Před měsícem +2

So, in one breath you say that Xbox doesn’t need to sell hardware, but the immediately say that their number one source of revenue is hardware…?
Which is it? Because, if they were doing fine on hardware sales, I very much doubt that they would be offering their former exclusives on their rival platforms.
Sure, there’s a ceiling of people who want to purchase consoles, but they should be fighting tooth and nail for those people, not just making all of their IP multi platform and essentially giving up on the console market, which they have all but done. I want them to succeed, but they don’t deliver quality products. They’ve had too many shortcomings in making great titles in the last decade, and they don’t seem to be trying to do anything about that.
