That was the best way the Doctor was able to save her limbs...they created that through surgery. So she can at least carry thing with her hands and have the ability to write....She was born perfect and became a victim of war as a child. During that time her father was killed. What remained was her mother.
The community should have been more understanding considering it's not a foreign story, which has left many other's mutilated, no arms legs, lips and much worse.
It's really disappointing that we human beings can be cruel with disregard of another's feelings...such a lack of empathy.
