Whether he makes you want to dance or he makes you feel deep emotion..you can not listen to a so g by EP and not feel something. Fantastic reaction.

    Great reaction, thank you. Yeah this performance always blows me away for sure. If you like this, you might well like, How Great Thou Art. The traditional religious hymns but there are a couple performances, the early one is in a blue suit I think and not many years later and it is painful for me to watch because right before his death oh, but he does want in the white suit and she is just killing it operatically. It's like even as his health started to go downhill his voice just got more and more commanding. It will definitely bring tears to your eyes.

    Simon and Garfunkel taken TO SCHOOL here. Legends in their own right... they loved Elvis' take. Paul Simon has been quoted as being in total disbelief how good this sounded in person to him. Elvis was always with his backup band. They could harmonize with Elvis every bit as good as Simon & Garfunkel could, and he believed so strongly in his backup singers that when the Texas AstroDome owners told Elvis to "leave the black girls home" Elvis was quoted by Myrna (one of the Inspirations) as replying to them "Then I won't be there." Elvis immediately won that debate and CHANGED LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCE FOREVER for many people of color around the United States and world.

    "Paul Simon has also noted that Elvis Presley's rendition was a “touch on the dramatic side.” “But so was the song,” he added. “When I first heard Elvis perform 'Bridge Over Troubled Water,' it was unbelievable. I thought to myself, 'How the hell can I compete with that?' ”

    • @chrisdonnelly3577
      @chrisdonnelly3577 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes, but no.
      Art Garfunkel became very jealous after his best friend and band mate Paul Simon said, 'Artie, I just saw Elvis, doing our song Bridge etc, He did it better than us and he is a better singer than you, Art!'
      Simon and Garfunkel didn't perform again together until New York, Central Park in 1981.....The song Bridge over Troubled Water was recorded in 1970 by both Simon and Garfunkel and Mr Presley.

    This is a perfect example of why Elvis is/was Elvis! So much passion, such a powerful, perfect voice. Simon and Garfunkel did a great version, but it was unquestionably their best song. Elvis could sing any power ballad and be arguable better than the original upon whose career that song depended (You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, You Don't Have To Say You Love Me, Blue I Just Can't Help Believing, Unchained Melody, etc.)

    Beautiful reaction to the most talented and versatile singer and entertainer ever! Elvis was the bridge over troubled water to family, friends and strangers in need. He grew up in extreme poverty and gave away much of his fortune when he became a superstar. Elvis had no formal musical training and couldn't even read music. He even taught himself to play several instruments by ear. There was no autotune or lypsynching back then. He was just pure, raw talent and passion. He sang lots of different types of music and recorded over 700 songs.

    Elvis was the total package; the (incredible) voice, the style, the stage mannerism, the clothes, the look, the different material he mastered, the humillity, the way he felt and could conway the feeling of a song to us. Elvis is the ecco that will never die. Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Poul McCartney, David Bowie, Britney Spears, Elton John, Billy Idol, Freddy Mercery, Robert Plant (led Zeppelin), Bruno Mars and MANY other singers, saw Elvis as THEIR idol !!

      No offense to S&G, but they’re not on the same level as The King. Not even close. The impersonator point makes no sense. The studio version on TTWII is an even better version of this song. I can’t think of more than 2 songs that Elvis did, that were done better by the original performer. 1. Hey Jude. 2. Yesterday. On a side note, his version of Proud Mary is better than the original, but not better than Ike a Tina’s version.

      @@drblakeslovick4607 what he did, was kick the door in and allow Americans that didn’t know this style, to hear music that had R&B, country and gospel influences. If not for him, black artists would not be heard and for that they should be ever grateful. Facts!! Also, the music he “stole” was not even popular with blacks at the time, and his versions put a twist on the originals that made them far superior. Hound dog, heartbreak hotel, that’s alright little momma and blue moon of Kentucky sung by the original artists are garbage until he re-arranged the music, sang with a different sound and added other instruments. The woke thing to do is hate and blame racism for why a certain race isn’t better than another race at something, but in this case it’s just hating and blatant racism in itself. He gave opportunity to people that would not have had one otherwise, introduced original artists to his fan base to encourage them to hear his influencers and gave credit where credit was due. Sorry if your snowflake or racist feelings are hurt because the king of rock and roll happens to be a white man, but as much as you would like the critical race theory to re-write history……it’s not working. Especially with someone that is sealed in amber as the best to ever do it. And there is no argument that can be made to change that fact.
