I’m 24 born in 99, my dad from England put me onto Skynyrd in 2009. We went to see them at Thunder valley in 14, I already had loved them, saw them again 2019 in Gary’s last California concert n man I could feel the energy he put into that night I could just tell he was barely standing but I’ve never been more grateful for that night (he was recovering from heart valve replacement surgery n postponed the concert) and bless that band for inspiring me cuz I also played in a band covering some of their songs
@zoramirez-jv9hj great music forsure,so many talented people that can play real music had a bad ending,I played guitar in a few local bands,always did skyward and bad company,and some good country songs but even with local not mainstream bands,we lost our way because of drugs are family problems,fun times while it lasted,lead singer died at 47 from drugs,our bodies can only handle so much,it started to bother me that when I looked at the people I was entertaining they were drugged up are drunk,but I try and remember the good times.
So sad good guy very underrated guitar player terrible way he left this world man lost so much his band his friends then his wife ended up paralyzed killing girlfriend in DUI crash , now they are all up there together jam away
As much as I admire and love his guitar play and don’t want throw cold water on this video, I feel it’s important to remind everyone here how he got in that wheelchair in the first place: driving fast and under the influence. Please don’t drink and drive. :((

No it was one of the greatest guitar players to ever live , you see he actually ended up this way because after his band broke up following a fatal plane crash he tried to move on with his life until his wife died during a miscarriage of an unborn baby and then was paralyzed in a car accident the year before the band he lived for reunited and wasn't able to play , he had a hard life man

First of anybody who really knows the case Debrah was driving that car not Allen that day , yes he did have a drug and drinking problem but why is that so the man had lost one of his best friend and and essentially a father figure to him in Ronnie ,he lost his band because Skynyrd died with Ronnie and at the time the band was officially done and he also lost his wife and child hood sweetheart and is unborn child in the span of 3 years. So yeah the guy was essentially drowning himself away In sorrow he was in pain and imo just tryna numb himself

If you have no sympathy for him then you have no sympathy for anyone. We all make mistakes. And this was their lifestyle and Debra knew it. No one knows what really happened. Some say Allen, as a passenger, would yank the steering wheel as a joke, though I think this is unlikely how the crash happened. He was probably just drunk and speeding. But both were thrown from the car, probably from not wearing seatbelts. Also, it's easy to criticize drunk drivers in todays climate, but decades ago it was much more acceptable, especially in their industry. My granddad had over 20 DUIs in his lifetime. It sounds bad but it's just how it was.
God bless his soul and let him rest! He gave us something great to take with us!

I was with these guys at this concert. It was very emotional seeing Allen like that.
