Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar | Day 06 EBC and Three Passes Trek Nepal

- The day when we finally reach the Everest Base Camp (EBC) and also hike up to the Kala Patthar. 17th October 2022, the day when we finally reach the Everest Base Camp (EBC) on the 06th day of the trek in Nepal. We started the trek from Lobuche (5000 m) and it took us 03 hours to reach EBC (5364 m) which was at a distance of around 08 km.

After coming back to Gorakshep (5190 m) I went to Kala Patthar (5644 m) and then quickly hiked all the way back to Lobuche. The other three co-trekkers would stay at Lobuche and I would continue my journey to Cho la, Gokyo lakes and Renjo la on my own. After grabbing a quick lunch at Lobuche I hiked all the way to Dzongla (4800 m) via Chola Tsho (4510 m).

Excellent video and information!!! Really a nice job! I was guiding a group of 7 to the Everest Base Camp at the same time you were there. We had a memorial at EBC for Sandy Irvine who disappeared with George Mallory on Everest in 1924. We had a family relative of Sandy Irvine with our group, Jeff Irvine.
Thank you very much for sharing your experience here. I keep reading about the 1924 Everest expedition. While I was hiking towards EBC, I was trying to imagine how the terrain would have looked like a 100 years ago.

yes, the bag...one really has to make very very sure what's really necessary to carry with. i did rupin pass with all jeans...and my god, what a bad experience it was! all because of the load i had to carry. nice video, btw.

The images were shot on the phone. Everything else, is shot on GoPro
Great Job in 6 days,normally people do in 8 to 10 days. And you showed no Symptoms of altitude sickness. 6th day should be with some details you skimmed a lot ,I think.

congrats.... great achievement...just curious.. is there some rule that you cannot hike beyond the rock.. i mean towards Mt. Everst....
One definitely needs to have permission to hike further. You can walk around for some distance but then later you would need permits and it is definitely not a terrain where one would wish to go unplanned.
Manav one this i want to ask you that whether a trekker can go further beyond this kala pathar upto the Everest base camp 1
Nope. It will be quite impossible to hike towards Khumbu icefall without climbing equipment

Manav, from recent EBC experience pl. suggest 2-3 trekking shoes for EBC

How is the battery life on your Suunto 9 peak when you have gps on and tracking your activity? Does it have solar charging?
There is no solar charging
It runs for two full days (12 hour hike each day)
